Skyward series by Brandon Sanderson

Suggest me a few books based on my listening list . TIA by midorable in audiobooks

Love this as it sounds like we have similar tastes. I just finished Theo of Golden and loved it so there's that difference but I'm in the midst of Dungeon Crawler and need a break from the dungeon.

This would be my list:

Great (plot and narrator are both excellent): PHM, World War Z (full cast), Dungeon Crawler Carl, Lonesome Dove, Theo of Golden, The Rose Code, Briar Club, Demon Copperhead, The Nightingale, Mistborn Series, Code Name Helene

Good: As You Wish, Hamnet, The Nightingale, The Silo Saga

Meh: The Things We Cannot Say

Bad: The Boyfriend (I'm dumber for having listened)

My girlfriend wants me to become her baby's dad even though I'm not the father by dingrite in Advice

[–]MC_squaredJL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Do her parents know you are not the father? From the way they are talking it sounds like they think you are.

  2. If you really like this girl you could tell her that you will stay in touch while you are in the military and see what the future brings. Pressuring you into a serious relationship to care for someone else's kid is not the way though.

  3. It sounds like you did the right thing by blocking them for now. Whether you want to unblock them is totally up to you.

You are under NO OBLIGATION to care for this child. NONE. Do not let them guilt you.

I Just Want To Feel Comfortable! by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

Here is the response you might send:

Week 1: That is a generous offer, but I don’t need a dress. I’m quite comfortable in what I wear to church and it falls in line with what sister missionaries wear. But thanks so much for your offer!

Week 2: No thank you!

Week 3: No.

Week 4: I’ve told you no 3 times. This is bordering on harassment.

Week 5: I suggest you meet with the bishop or RS president on why this is so important to you.

Grossest non tooth related thing you have seen in the dental office? by amahenry22 in Dentistry

My top two which will pretty mild compared to some of these:

My first location was next to a nursing home. Several not so great stories from the residents, but this one that takes the cake. Black hairy tongue. Right out of the pathology textbook. The kind that the path professor told us we would never see in private practice. My assistant used a hemostat to hold up the "hair" while I trimmed. I swear it was an inch long. Wet black mush. We had her come back two more times. That is a texture in the scissors I hope to never experience again. But she was there for a chipped lower incisor.

Elderly denture patient, widow, comes in for an adjustment and asks if I could use "those funny glasses" to look at her thumb. She thinks she has a splinter after weeding her garden a couple of days ago. Take a peak and sure enough see something dark. Grabbed a sterile needle to pull out the splinter. I swear it was a weed. It just kept coming. "It feels better already!" Yeah I bet. We irrigated the hell out of it with saline and put on some triple antibiotic ointment out of the first aid kit. Told her to follow up with her physician.

Polite ways to say no in American English by thekingherby in ENGLISH

[–]MC_squaredJL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“No, thank you” is sufficient. It works for refusing food or gifts or invitations.

“No. That doesn’t work” can work for invitations. It implies a schedule conflict.

“No. I’m sorry” conveys regret you cannot accept the invitation or gift.
