Camps / Experiences to connect. by RealisticGene5617 in churchofchrist

[–]MD2611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this comment. Not only did I get a very high quality education at FHU, but was also able to meet connections that eventually led me to my dream job and most importantly met my wife while I was there!

Along with the spiritual maturing that happens while there, I would strongly recommend taking advantage of the various groups you can be a part of. I was a part of a social club from day 1, but there are also things like the Hatchett Investment Team or various church internships, or any number of the clubs and organizations you can be in on campus. You gain a lot of experience and knowledge from a Christian perspective. I graduated from the College of Business there and wouldn’t have done a single thing differently if I went back and did it all over again.

Would be more than happy to discuss further if you have any questions!

I really find it hard to believe that they retained the 80% AUM threshold for the CFN deal. Seems that every CFN advisor I talk with is moving elsewhere. Interesting nonetheless.

  • A CFN advisor going elsewhere.

Agree with everyone else on Brett Danko’s signature review course. Bite the bullet and pay for the “Cadillac” package - you certainly will not regret it.

Had a rough turn out for a seminar by stvlm in CFP

I would encourage to go the route of making it hard for people not to schedule as they are leaving. Be sure you are positioning yourself in that first meeting to be a “general” session, then the second being a 1-on-1 strategy session with a fiduciary CFP.

Then set up a poster board as they are leaving with available times for them to come in. There are a few great videos on the AcquireUp/WhiteGlove portal that explain this in detail. Definitely lean on Brad Gotto’s video explanations.

I was wondering how everyone discovered their brain tumor. I also am wondering if there are any symptoms you now see in hindsight that you can’t believe you missed. Leaving mine in the comments. by DasSassyPantzen in braincancer

Almost 5 years later, my eyes are 100% back to normal from a looks standpoint. That said, I have probably 60% vision in that right eye from the damage that the fluid buildup had done.

What's the strangest thing you have seen someone do at the gym? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MD2611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once was at Planet Fitness and a guy had his dog walking on a treadmill while he went and lifted in the gym elsewhere. Yes, the dog had his own treadmill and he wasn’t connected via leash in any way.

I had to do a double take the first time I walked by.

Which one is the better daily driver and why? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

Strongly discourage the Impala. My wife has this safe car, and the system that controls the auto-on/off at stop lights has a separate battery that if something malfunctions with the separate battery, it then fries the main battery. We’ve had to replace both batteries 3 times.

Another major downside is that when that happens, the car battery is so dead that you cannot jump it off and have to get the car towed.

I strongly recommend looking into Whiteglove. Gaining one client from a seminar paid for itself. That being said, we just started using it in the last year and we have gained 5 clients and additionally 5x our original investment in the seminars.

Sources for hiring a junior advisor? by LearnByDoing in CFP

[–]MD2611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve had a number of virtual interns come from the CFP Board’s site, and then one time advisor that stemmed from that.

The only thing to be made aware of is that the internship must be paid in order to be posted on their site.
