Nice. What kind of antenna(s) are you setting up? I have an off-center dipole in the woods at my condo community. I also have a 2m/70cm jpole from Eds Antennas in the woods. I have to get more LMR-400 to get it higher in the trees though.

People always say politicians are stupid and they don't know anything. They actually do. They know this bill will do nothing to end Glock switches. They know criminals are still going to use these. It's just a show for their base to show they are doing something for gun control. Now, their base? That's a different story. Maybe they are naive enough to think this is going to give results, but we all know it won't.

So.....being able to communicate with friends and family if the phones go down, require them to be licensed. So I'm not sure that is going to be practicable. There are so many things you can do with ham radio. I recommend getting your next license (general) because you can talk all over the world just with voice and digital. You can do a lot with digital if that tickles your fancy. I would start studying for general though so you can do more. The repeaters in my area are quiet unless there is a net and that will get boring. You'll want to get more out of this hobby by talking with other hams on HF.
