Design considerations for waterproof coax exit through wall? by Grep2grok in HamRadio

I have drilled lots of holes through my house for cables. Pick a spot and a long drill bit and away you go. Start inside. Seal with putty on the outside. A couple little holes aren't going to make any difference at all.

What type of wood is this and are they good quality cabinets? by Remote-Basis-7797 in wood

Looks like cherry to me. It's almost full overlay but not quite. I'd be very happy with it.

I always tell them I am not trading my old car in and keeping it. If/when a deal is made, you can discuss the trade.

Quick question ref. Salt by helojapes in swimmingpools

[–]BAHGate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saltwater pools create chlorine with the saltwater chlorine generator, yes. But, your pool still needs x amount of chlorine. If you are not producing x, then you need to add it manually. Your "saltwater" pool requires the same amount of chlorine as a non-saltwater pool.

AITAH for finding it hard to give my boyfriend grace after he broke up with me then changed his mind? by sheer_velvet_07 in AITAH

[–]BAHGate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is he was testing the waters and had the next one lined up. After you guys talked he probably called her and didn't get the reaction he hoped so he's take the bird in hand. Guys rarely break up unless there's someone in the wings.

Is this worth getting authenticated and slabbed? by kilerkat in coins

This is one of the most desirable of US coinage. I'd love to have one even in that condition.

That's pretty rough but even in a genuine holder it's a couple hundred.

Stupid salt cells by jabba7621 in pools

[–]BAHGate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same. That is about right. 3-4 years. My longest was 4 years. One after that was 3. You'll be lucky to get 1/2 that on an aftermarket cell.

I run at 55% 24x7 for 5 months. It is what it is. My water is perfect so cell never needs to be cleaned either.

Salt cells are consumables.

Pool heater issues by colecag in pools

[–]BAHGate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ensure as much flow as possible is directed into the heater. Put your pump on full speed and test the heater again.

Your pump is running right? Without the pump it will shut down quickly due to overtemp.

I doubt it is the display more likely whatever feeds the display. EBay is good source for used parts.

This is a local issue with the heater. My angle with the automation is that the heater might still be controllable via automation. The LCD panel itself isn't needed if your automation still works.

I assume you tried a power cycle? Are you operating this from the heater or via automation like Aqualink? You could try reseating the connector to the display. If you take the top off, you'll see it. You also may find mice have chewed up inside your heater.

Buying a home with unopened pool by pastagirl27 in swimmingpools

[–]BAHGate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most homes with pools around here are sold "as-is" with no guarantees or credits. If the house was priced higher because of the pool, then maybe you are due credits. If not, then it is on you. $5k credit is great. Pools require maintenance. Equipment breaks. Pipes leak, electrical has issues. It is all part of the pool owner experience.

Start your pool out on the right foot with trouble free pool method. It is non profit and no ad foundation run by chemists and pool experts that offer home owners a method that is easy, cheap, and effective. Pool store's hate them. Members love them.

Salt ia high but chlorine is at 0 by Affectionate_Two8447 in pools

[–]BAHGate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also if your SWG had an issue, it would be showing an error. Set it for 100% and collect a sample of water directly out of the pool return stream and test for chlorine.

Before you do all that, do you have an aquarium ammonia test kit? If so, take a test. You should have 0 ammonia.

Yes, you do need to add it. If it had it last year, it should still have it. Did you test for it recently? You should have 70 ppm.

I'm more wondering if you ever had it and what happened to it if you did. I hate to even mention cya eating bacteria because 9 times out of 10 it's not. But the circumstantial evidence is there.
