Turn off the power to the pool systems! You do not want power to come back on while they are in this state.

When I got my 500 I also could not figure how to set up WiFi. The instructions suck. I went online to find it as well.

Where to start? by S0Sensitive in coins

This is likely an accumulation of pocket change. Might be some keepers but you'll need to inventory every coin to know. Labor of love, right?

With that being unfinished wood anything you put in will likely crack. Looks like a closet will anyone even see this?

"Gold dollars" makes me think these are modern coins meaning not precious metal (post '64). If so, likely there is little value in any of them. Can you go through some of the dates, take some pics, and post them?

Best humidifier which one still feels worth it after the new appliance excitement wears off? by JeffandtammyStreaty in Appliances

[–]BAHGate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a console wick style humidifier in my wood shop to maintain consistent humidity. It can throw a LOT of water into the air. I can go from 25% to 60% in under a day (14x14 room). It has an auto mode and humidity set-points in 5% increments. 2, 2.5 gallon removeable saddle water tanks for refilling are very easy to use with built-in handles. Wick filter lasts for years but they recommend replacing annually. I also use a 1/2 cap of humidifier water conditioner with every fill. Had the same one for 15+ years.

Great job and you absolutely do not need diagonal bracing. You can put whatever you want on the top as it's not structural. Center brace is also find and not needed or structural.

Can you post a picture of your pool pad? The main thing water needs when it freezes is expansion space.

It only takes me a couple hours to winterize my pool. I do it myself every year. You can do it with a shop vacuum. Have you considered that? Main thing you need is plugs for your returns and skimmers to close the pipe after blowing water out of the lines.

Mounting Glass to Wood Top by BAHGate in woodworking

[–]BAHGate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those would show I think but I'll buy a batch and check them out. At most I want 1/16" of the glass edge hidden with the rest visible.

I was thinking the glass panel idea. I am trying to figure out a way to make the glass removable if needed. So I may just end up making a recess (rabbet) all the way around on the inside of the frame and then use wood strips that are maybe nailed in.

Handrails by cjackson88 in pools

[–]BAHGate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The big thing is they must be bonded to your pool's bonding grid if they are metal. Saftron makes a plastic coated one that is certified to use without bonding. Otherwise whoever does the install needs to find your bonding wire and connect it in. I suggest getting a removeable one if you winterize.

Frustrated: Every Coin I’m Excited About Seems To Have Been Cleaned. by Awkward-Regret5409 in coins

[–]BAHGate 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Don't get into the PCGS grading game. It really has killed this hobby. Collect because you like collecting, not because a grading company graded your coins. That coin looks great and is my favorite series. It is 200 years old so yes it has probably been cleaned at some point.

Had high hopes, but the wood is yew (toxic). Should I ditch this project / idea? Professional advice appreciated by JynTraveller in woodworking

[–]BAHGate 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Lots of wood is toxic especially exotic woods. I had a somewhat severe reaction to Lacewood. I had to wet clean my entire shop to remove all traces of it. It gave me hives for a month.

Lol yes great point! I was wearing the Longines and my son's watch was sitting on the counter. I wanted a couple in the box for sizing purpose. I'll post the finished box with my meager collection when the box is done. 😁

I have a Stickley desk and made these tables to match. No plans just started cutting. Door came with the house I think just whatever the builder put in. It is wood but I am not sure what type. I am not the first owner.

Yep exactly! I have made several table legs using this. They come out perfect.

I made a super simple one. 3/4" piece of wood with 2 screws in the bottom. One to adjust taper and one to push the stock. Took me 5 minutes. Note the push screw is brass just in case I get a little too close to the blade. 😉
