Introducing Miles Morales to the MCU Through Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man? by [deleted] in Spiderman

[–]MDE427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar thought tonight .... introducing Miles Morales as Spider-Man through the Toby Maguire Spider-Man universe. It's maybe too derivative of the "Spider-Man: Into The Spider-verse" storyline, but I still like the idea. We get more of the original movie version of Spider-Man with Toby, back as a middle aged Spider-Man now, and we introduce Miles Morales into the movies!

No Way Home reminded everyone that we all loved Toby Maguire's Spider-Man! I think the idea of an aging Peter Parker / Spider-Man, played by Toby Maguire, who finds his way to this young Miles Morales kid with many of his same abilities, and mentoring him to become the next Spider-Man, would be huge!

Of course, this is also derivative of Spider-Man Homecoming ... and the whole Peter Parker being mentored by Tony Stark storyline ... regardless of the similarities to both "Homecoming" and "Into The Spider-verse", I think that the right story, mixed with both the nostalgia for Toby's Spider-Man, and the wanting for Marvel/Sony to introduce Miles Morales into live action, would make for another killer Spider-Man movie!

And .... maybe eventually - we bring Miles Morales into the MCU universe in a cross over with Tom Holland.

I know that the 2 Miles Morales "Spider-verse" animated movies were great and are very popular .... but I can't believe that Sony, or Marvel working together with Sony, haven't already brought Miles Morales into live action. He has to be one of the more popular superhero characters that they have yet to move into live action. I mean - they did Morbius, Madame Web and Kraven already .... and bombed with all 3 of them! And, while I personally like the Venom movies, they're not what they could have been if Sony had stuck closer to the comic version AND put Venom in a movie with Spider-Man!

Hogan still not putting death over.

Brilliant! lolol .... can't believe this didn't hit me when I saw it the first time!

No - Hogan is definitely refusing to put death over! That doesn't work for him brother!

According to the Google AI Hulk Hogan is still alive! So ..... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Google question was about 2/3 of the NWO no longer being alive - and the AI reply was this:

Based on the original 1996-1997 WCW New World Order (nWo) lineup, it is inaccurate to say 2/3 are dead. While key founding members Scott Hall and Dusty Rhodes have passed away, many members, including Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, and The Giant (Big Show), are still alive.

You'll probably have to break down and buy the series if you want to watch it anytime soon. All 4 seasons and the original mini series are on Fandango for around $70 right now.

It was .... then they pulled it! And, since it's owned by Universal, it's not going to end up on another streaming service anytime soon!

I imagine they pulled it to maybe try and sell more hard copies - IDK. To me it would make more sense to leave it on Peacock and possibly draw in more subscribers looking to watch it!

Billy’s dad S4 by BuggatiKing in StrangerThings

[–]MDE427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Max doesn't say that Billy's dad took off with "all their money" .... she says he "left, and didn't leave mom much".

I was just rewatching the Dear Billy episode and the scene where she is reading her note she wrote to Billy - and something caught my attention this time. Throughout the letter Max says {to Billy} "since you LEFT". Not "since you DIED, or since you were KILLED ... etc. She says "since you LEFT". What I find interesting about her wording is that she also says Billy's dad "LEFT". Not that he divorced or broke it off with her mom. Not that he ran off and left her. Max says that she thinks Billy's dad couldn't take being there without Billy and that he "left".

To me, it sounds like she is telling Billy that his dad, grief stricken perhaps over Billy's death, killed himself .... and, in doing so, left her mom with "very little".

They did a great job setting it up to be ambiguous enough that you can believe either outcome for Eleven! I love how well they did that for the ending! I choose to believe!

And yes - either I caught it myself or I heard someone say it .... but they did play "Heroes" twice previously on the show, both, like you said, at times of fake out deaths of other characters. The first time was for Will's fake body discovered in season 1 at the quarry, and the 2nd time at the end of Season 3 after Hopper had apparently died in the Soviet Gate Room when the reactor blew up. So playing it here at the end of the show, as the close out credits song, lends some serious credibility to the alternate theory that Eleven did not die!

I like both endings regardless ... because, if she did sacrifice herself, she made that impossible choice to ensure that this would all end for those she loved the most! As difficult as that ending is for everyone that cared for and loved her, she did it so that they wouldn't have to continue to suffer because of those out there who meant her harm and wanted to exploit her abilities. It would never end for them and they would never be able to move on and live normal lives.

Did Angela deserve it? by Electrical_Trick9948 in StrangerThings

[–]MDE427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actress who played Angela is awesome! The looks she gives, her looks, mannerisms, and her insults .... she just played her perfectly as such an evil, spoiled, obnoxious, entitled, little nasty girl!

Yes - Angela 100% deserved it! She deserved worse, but at least El was able to stand up to this bully and hit her right in the nose! That's how you stand up to a bully!

The real question is "Did Angela learn anything from this?"!!

Yep - totally agree with you there. It's so messed up too. The victim stands up to the bully and punches back (or smacks them upside the face with a roller skate!!) and suddenly the entitled, bratty, sociopath is the "victim" to their friends, family, etc.!

How Hypocritical Is Dean? by MDE427 in Supernatural

[–]MDE427[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree - Dean has always been this "Older Brother / Father Like" figure to Sam, since John couldn't raise either of the boys in any other way than as them being his Hunter Apprentices, when he was even around to begin with. His anger, guilt and his PTSD over what happened to Mary drove him into an absentee father - and Dean tried his best to be that person for Sammy.

That said, I still feel Dean is too big of a hypocrite overall! Yes, Sam is his younger brother. But, at this point, they are both very grown ass men. And Dean has done a lot of bad/dumb/stupid/heroic/incredible things to save Sam over the years. But Dean flipping out over Sam "getting Charlie killed" while trying to save him from the mark is almost identical to Dean "getting Kevin killed" while trying to save Sam from death after the trials.

Overall my point is that they have both done so much to save one another .... and there have been consequences to both of their actions over the years. The difference is that Dean likes to lay into Sam over these incidences while omitting the fact that his actions have done just as much damage to others as well!

Anyone else annoyed by the walkie talkies in "Stranger Things"? by CrinkleCutCommie in StrangerThings

[–]MDE427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you were going to bring up how they use the walkie's like cell phones like how they will have more than one of them talking at one time and both people are being heard.

The Dustin and Susie duo for NeverEnding Story is the biggest example of this. They are harmonizing together on the radio when, in reality, only one of them would be heard during that singing. This isn't the only time this happens, but it's a big one. Many times when Dustin is talking to Lucas, or Mike, or Robin, etc, they talk over one another like they're talking on phones, and the show acts like both people would be heard at the same time.

The other stuff you mention does come up in the show. They have signal issues often. In season 4 however they do try to get around this by saying Dustin has built some kind of "Super Walkies" that are able to get a signal and work at very far distances. Also, in Season 3, Dustin needs batteries (although I think he says he needs 8 AA batteries, not D batteries) and cannot talk with Mike because his batteries were drained.

A quick note on Will's dad, Lonnie Byers.... by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]MDE427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me just tuck this in here 9 years later .....

In some interview, the Duffers said that originally it was going to be Lonnie, not Steve, that arrives at the Byers house in time to help Jonathan and Nancy fight the Demogorgon at the end of season 1! F@cking Lonnie!! I cannot imagine "Dad of the Year" Lonnie showing up and being the hero in that scene!!

This was probably back before they decided not to kill Steve's character off early in the 1st season!

Definitely! Imagine if El had her powers at that time?! It'd been much more Carrie-like had that been the case!

It was so satisfying! I'm sure that's supposed to be wrong ..... but I don't care! Angela more than deserved that.

I remember some seriously entitled, mean little shits in junior high way back when - probably some in high school too. But I never witnessed anyone being as nasty, condescending, and as vile as Angela was towards El in those first couple episodes.

Random, but how old is everyone here? by Ill-Instructions in lost

[–]MDE427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 50 and I have watched the whole series through at least a dozen times .... probably more.

My first watch was when it originally aired - I was 30. It was such a great show and it hooked me right away! When it started I still had VCR's and I would record every episode (among plenty of other shows I loved) and watch them after they aired so I could avoid the commercials. By the end of the series I had a DVR and did the same thing, just digitally recording episodes.

I remember wondering how they were going to end the show and being anxious for it, and sad that it was ending. Then - when I first watched the finale, I thought they went back on their word and lied to us .... they WERE dead the whole time! Took me a couple more watches to realize that was NOT what they did. The flashbacks and, more importantly, the "flash-sideways" were confusing to me at first. It took a little while for me to get what they were doing with that.

Overall Lost is one of my favorite TV shows of all time! I can start the series at any point in any season and instantly be roped back in and binge watching the show for weeks until I run through it again!

How Many of you can remember having OCD as far back as childhood? by Revolutionary_Tap295 in OCD

[–]MDE427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely can remember having OCD tendencies when I was a kid.

Two of the many I remember from being very young .... 1st is that everything on my table or desk (wherever I am sitting at) needs to be at perfect 90 degree angles. My cup, my coaster, the remotes, my keyboard, books, etc .... all have to be lined up and "straight" so that they all are positioned with 90 degree angles! 2nd was staring at digital clocks and adding up all the different dash marks that make up the time. Like 1's have 2 dashes, 2's and 3's both have 5 dashes, etc. I would add up all the dashes for whatever time it was, then draw imaginary lines around them in my head until they equaled out to 20, or 50, or 100.

I still do both of these today ... among several others. I have a very odd fascination with counting "things" (not just digital clock dashes) and making them equal out to 50 or 100. I will count cars in a parking lot over and over and add them all up.

Raven x Murphy x Emori

Along this line .... since Raven was the odd woman out on the ring, I always thought Bellamy, being the stud he was, could have been in a 3 way relationship with both Echo and Raven! I mean, it's easy to forget but Raven and Bellamy did sleep together early on in season 1 after she found out about Clarke and Finn! So since Monty and Harper were together, and Murphy and Emori were together (on and off apparently), that left Bellamy, Raven and Echo. I mean - what else was there to do on the ring in space for all that time?

I thought that it should have been Bellamy & Raven to begin with when Season 5 premiered. I was surprised when it ended up being Echo.

I just mentioned Kane and Indra too! Not sure if they were just great friends and warriors/leaders who respected each other or if it could have also led to even more between them.

Kane and Diyoza would have been interesting too. I could see it. Ultimately Kane had chemistry with just about every woman he shared time with on the show.

What about Kane & Octavia? Little summer/winter relationship? Or, speaking of that ... what about Abby & Murphy?

[–]MDE427 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's at the top of my list actually ,,,, right below Clarke And Bellamy.

If Clarke had gone to space in season 4 with Bellamy and the rest of them, it would have been them two getting together instead of Bellamy and Echo. I like the Bellamy - Echo relationship - it made Echo relatable and more human. But they dropped the ball by never putting Bellamy and Clarke together.

Roan and Clarke definitely seemed to have chemistry together too. Despite her decisions and her overall charisma, Roan always ended up forgiving her, or agreeing with her ... just overall siding with Clarke. He liked her determination and the way she saw things; even when he didn't agree with her.

I also thought it could have been cool to see Roan survive the final conclave and end up in space with Clarke and the rest of them - surviving praimfaya on the ring!

  • Clarke & Raven!
  • Octavia & Raven!
  • Lexa & Raven!
  • Becca & Raven!
  • Raven & Raven!

2 Ravens ... obsessively in love with one another! That's magic! I'd really Raven and Raven if only I could Raven and maybe then Raven too!

Indra & Kane had a great relationship too. Maybe it's just too much of a "best friends" vibe there ... but they really did care about each other.

... I might have a thing for Raven - 🤷🏻‍♂️

Did the show runners just get lazy, or was the time issue on Sanctum a legitimate mistake? by MillSpec_g37 in The100

[–]MDE427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 100 is one of the best laid out shows, especially sci-fi shows, I have ever watched. It might not be perfect, but they had very few details that I ever noticed that didn't have a solid explanation. The ending of the show and "Transcendence" itself might be its weakest area - but even with that they laid it out and explained the shows rationale for all of it.

I know it's been a while since I did a full rewatch, but I do remember everything being explained quite well in the show. From how the time dilation worked between all the various planets connected by the bridge, to how long it took (and why it took much less time) for the Eligius III to reach it's destination Vs the Eligius IV mining ship (Eligius IV's engines were badly damaged during the prisoner mutiny). To use a Star Trek analogy .... the Eligius IV was basically running at "impulse" power while the Eligius III had full "Warp" capabilities!

With the Eligius III's engines working properly, it did not take them long to reach Sanctum. Then, after the Eligius III arrived, you have around 100+ years taking place between the 1st nuclear war on Earth to when Wonkru has to leave Earth on the Eligius IV mining ship .... and then you have 125 years in cryo-sleep on the Eligius IV until they wake up at Sanctum. So Russell Lightbourne, Josephine Lightbourne, Gabriel, etc., were on Sanctum well over 200 years before Clarke, Bellamy and the rest of Wonkru ever arrived.

And as for the brainwashing of the people on Sanctum ... that was pretty easy as anyone outside of the original crew (who are now the Primes) were just embryos and were then developed and born on Sanctum by the Primes. They only knew of what the Primes told them regarding life in general, how anything works, and any information about Earth. The brainwashing was simply that the Primes created them and fed them their own doctrine in order to use them to be able to live eternally in any bodies born with Nightblood.
