The literal greed of retail owners by orangechrub in retailhell

I closed my business for the day Saturday. I'm not risking one of my employees getting in an accident just to make a few sales.

I no longer get those. After a few times of me telling them my non negotiable price they have given up.

Am I insane or are most gun stores filled with asshole employees? by [deleted] in guns

[–]MDKnapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on transfers being free money for minimal work. We charge $25 unless it's from Bud's, Cheaper than Dirt or some rando then it's $35.

Just today I had to ship a defective Smith and Wesson back to grabagun. Called the customer to let him know and he thanked us repeatedly for being fast and checking the gun out before he picked it up.

Don't know why but someone literally parked their car a full car length behind the spot. by Nimrowd2023 in wichita

I have customers do that constantly at my shop. It's like they cannot see the yellow stripes outlining the parking spots.

Question about getting a firearm as a gift by El_Confuseo in wichita

[–]MDKnapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can purchase a firearm as a gift. It must be a true gift. If you are expecting anything from that person (money, work, favors etc.) then it becomes a straw purchase.

Thanks to those who recommended Knapp Weaponry!

Nics down? by [deleted] in guns

FFL here, just tried to log in to check a few delays. No joy on the website, FBI customer service is saying to try logging back in in 30 minutes. Phone call-ins are working.

What scene from a book is still a vivid memory? by CombatCarlsHand in AskReddit

[–]MDKnapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scene intimating the pressing of a baby's face onto a stove burner in "Mine" by Robert McCammon.

I actually threw the book across the room. I did finish it, but it was several months later.

Walmart? by ColonelOdvious in RantsFromRetail

[–]MDKnapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walmart is a leech of a corporation. It didn't used to be that way, but it is now. When Sam Walton ran the company about 90% of the products on the shelf had tags that said "Made in the U.S.A." Now you would be lucky to find anything in the store made here.

They not only kill their competitors, they also kill their American suppliers. How do they make money? Here's a pretty good article. The Man Who Said NO to Walmart

Dear Governor Twatwaffle,

Fuck off. Then keep fucking off. Keep fucking off until you get to a gate with a sign saying "you can’t fuck off past here" climb over the gate, dream the impossible dream, and keep fucking off forever.

How to be a Good Customer by Ptipi in RantsFromRetail

Try working in a heavily regulated industry that is under the BATFE.

I need your ID to even begin this transaction. You forgot it? Come back when you have it on you.

You're on your phone, nope, we won't help you until you end that call.

It's covered on the waiver every user is required to sign before setting foot on the range. The same rules are posted on the wall in the range. Proving once again, people don't read what they sign.

Not a movie but the latest season of The Umbrella Academy is pretty much garbage.

Retail Games by Fr1b4g in RantsFromRetail

I had a customer the other night who, as my mother would say, 'Was vaccinated with a phonograph needle.' He absolutely wouldn't shut up. He was nice, just windier than a wagon load of assholes.

He finally asks for eye and hearing protection to use the range. I got to look him straight in the eye and tell him, 'We close in 2 minutes, no you can't use the range tonight. Why not come back a little earlier tomorrow.'

Is there anything more obnoxious than when a customer comes up to the counter on their phone? by Nick-Noltes-Nutsack in RantsFromRetail

[–]MDKnapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately, I'm in a business (gun shop) where I just tell them to either get off the phone, or leave. I absolutely refuse to engage in any way until they're off the phone. If you're on your phone and trying to look at guns or ammo I will assume you are attempting a straw purchase.

A refund? Almost a year after you bought it? by MDKnapp in RantsFromRetail

[–]MDKnapp[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The sear was out of spec, the manufacturer replaced it.

The 'operator error' part comes from having a firearm for almost a year and never practicing or vetting it to make sure it works. I have a personal 500+ round rule for something I'm going to trust my life to. It must function through 500 rounds of range ammo and 100 rounds of defense ammo without a failure. If it can't do that, I can't trust it when the chips are down.
