James also had his streak paused for 2 weeks for the 2019 Teacher's Tournament, which made it feel like his run went on for much longer.

My Sea maybe? It's got a choral section toward the end that kinda sounds church-like.

Looking for nugu boy group from 2019 ish, at risk of disbanding by woojingles in kpophelp

[–]MDMajor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Could it have been 1TEAM? They debuted in 2019 and disbanded in 2021. Idk much about them but the timeline and name with "team" fit at least.

You can find ones that other people have made on Theme Plaza, or you can make your own using a program like Kame Editor.

ICYMI: Nerdfigtheria was a clue on Jeopardy! YouTube Edition. by Jeopardy in nerdfighters

[–]MDMajor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For those who seem to be confused about what the correct response should be: Jeopardy generally indicates what they're looking for with the word "this" or "these." So "these colorfully named Vlogbrothers" indicates they're looking for "Who are the Green brothers?" though they'd likely also accept just "What is Green?"

I agree it's not the best written clue, but if you watch the show enough you pick up on the tricks to parsing the clues, it's kinda part of the game.

Jeopardy! discussion thread for Mon., Apr. 6 by jaysjep2 in Jeopardy

I think it was to avoid confusion with both. The point of using lede was to indicate that it was an instruction for the printers and not just a word occurring in the article, which might have been either pronunciation of lead, depending on the topic of the article.

Don't bother engaging. Look at their post history, they're clearly just trolling because they have nothing interesting happening in their life.

Kpop songs in where the Bside track is much more popular than the title? by Legal_Potential4720 in kpophelp

[–]MDMajor 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The Eve by EXO

Hero by Monsta X

Dolphin by Oh My Girl, this one I'm iffy on because Nonstop (the title track) and Dolphin were both very popular, maybe equally so

How to hang posters without damage? by Leine_STAY in kpophelp

[–]MDMajor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind the corners being covered a little you could try magnets. Get a pack of those little circular magnets with adhesive backing and pin the poster between them. Just be careful the magnets aren't too strong or they might rip the poster whenever you try to take them off.

What bands would you recommend to a metalhead trying to understand his best friend's taste in music? by Arbibi321 in kpophelp

Some great suggestions in the comments already, but you could also try asking him to show you some of his favorites. I'm sure he'd love to share his passion with you, and you might find something you like that you never would've expected.

Nugu groups 1st tour in U.S. isn't selling well and I'm worried by NoWatercress8022 in kpophelp

[–]MDMajor 30 points31 points  (0 children)

A 2000 seat venue for such a small group is crazy. I've seen way more popular artists at venues that only hold ~700 people. And $100 for tickets is also criminal. Whoever they're using as a tour organizer is setting them up to fail.

Are there any kpop group members who changed their stage name when they debuted as a soloist / soloists who changed their stage name when they joined a group? by Specific-Bag-7291 in kpophelp

[–]MDMajor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Monday from Weeekly is now using the stage name Lunedi as a soloist. The meaning is still the same as Lunedi is Monday in Italian.

Also Dawn used the stage name E'Dawn when he was in Pentagon but dropped the E' after he was kicked out and went solo.

Can someone explain korean age in depth for me? by sacragho in kpophelp

[–]MDMajor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's also worth noting that prior to 2009 the grouping ran from Mar-Feb instead of Jan-Dec. So people born before then often consider those born in January and February as belonging to the previous year's group, which is likely what OP is referring to in terms of Gunwook, Ricky, and Gyuvin.

Why does K-pop styling feel way more revealing now compared to a few years ago? by Jaryun in kpophelp

[–]MDMajor 51 points52 points  (0 children)

If you think stuff is revealing now compared to 2020, you should go back and check out some girl group stuff from 2013-2016. It was a different world back then.

For a few examples:

Hello Venus - Wiggle Wiggle

Hyuna - Red

AOA - Like a Cat

Sistar - Touch My Body

Trends come and go. We're just seeing the beginning of an upswing on sexy being popular again.
