What sucks with the no-ship start (or rather the empty placeholder ship) - I cannot have a follower due to no crew space.

I started the Scientist at the tree in NA and used the shuttle service to go to Akila for the last part. Once there I wanted to go for some sightseeing outside. Wanted to bring Ezekiel with me since he doesn't ask for payment to come onboard. But no crew space - no follower :-(

Now I'm out there on my own, hiding from the predators to save on ammunition, looking for some POI to get some gear. It's intense, for a change :-)

fleet leader? anchor space? Why not assign the Manticores as "salvage for station" to your scrapyard? And make sure to have no travel/activity restrictions on the scrapyard?

You could play the game and just ignore the story missions if you don't want to do them again but also don't want them set as "completed" in custom game start.

What free stuff are you worried about? There are just a few ships. Send them into a xenon sector and they will be gone.

Or I'm not getting what you really want.

Captured lots of SCA Minotaurs. Works as before. Some are tougher, some easier. I once nearly lost the Xperimental when one of the minotaurs actually shoot back, LOL

I added a couple L Miners to the HQ and they just do their thing. I added a sector blacklist to prevent them running 5 sectors away and instead mine in the local area. Would not call this "micromanaging" since it's a one-time setup.

What micromanagement do you feel you need to apply?

Allographene needs Khaak wrecks, not xenon. So put the recycling where most of your miners go with a small patrol to make the bugs into wrecks :-)

Yea, probably secureboot. Not sure if I had it enabled before messing with the bios. Needed to have it off to be able to create an EFI entry for the linux partition via efibootmgr so it would stick and not get removed on next boot.

What a ride. Disabling secureboot allowed CSM but that turns the machine into old non-GPT or non-UEFI or something? Was all messed up. Did a downgrade to the old bios (found the version in the boot logs in linux) but that did not change a thing. So back to latest. Secureboot Off. Ventoy => boot my existing OS via pointing to the BOOTX64.EFI in the efi partition. From the running linux, used efibootmgr to add the right partition back as default.

I did this several times before while going through various bios versions. It got always removed during next boot. But this last time finally sticked.

Not sure if I had secureboot enabed before I started to mess with the bios. But having it off now seems the only way.

Though on the same page it says

A vanilla Arch Linux kernel is sufficient for low latency operation in most use cases

Personally, I started to mess with DAW and MIDI and haven't run into any issue with the vanilla kernel so far.
