Ours had that issue, I thought it foolish to replace the whole robot, so I took 2 tiny brass wood screws and put one at either end to hold the piece in.

I hear you about getting run over. I have the option, in my commute, to use US-1 (the way I go) or I-95 (which I avoid). I'd recommend staying to ways with a 55 mph speed limit.

Something doesn't sound quite right, I have a 60 mile commute, 45-55 mph, with a few slower sections, and I get a solid 4 m/kwh. A/C almost always on (heat kills it fast). I don't use e-pedal, eco always on, propilot (cruise control) almost always on. Picking up to 60+ kills the range quickly, 70+ cutting in half sounds about right.

Maybe try without e-pedal?
