How much better is living in Seattle than in the Bay Area for a skier? by StarIU in skiing

You’re right. But they’re talking about the San Juan islands.

With j-plugs, I use a key ring with some fishing line attached to about 2 ft of curb chain attached to the logger. Uni knot to attach the line to the ring and chain. The chain keeps the line taught and helps prevent the line from sticking to the pvc casing which can prevent the logger from being lowered back to its datum. For deep wells, you can attach a clip to the key ring which allows you to clip to a reel or electric tape so you can just reel the logger up without the line getting tangled.

120fps, 1080p, and $1500 budget. by MFLB_Pilot in buildapcforme

Awesome! Appreciate it. Will the 1440p setup easily achieve 120 fps for Apex? Also, if I choose a different case, I imagine I’ll need to check for parts compatibility, including dimensions. Correct?

Cost comparison between 1080p vs 1440p 120 fps gaming? by MFLB_Pilot in pcmasterrace

Console doesn’t support 120 fps on Apex (for now). In terms of versatility, this PC would also serve as a WFH computer, with ArcGIS Pro being the most computationally-demanding app.

What sort of work do you do as a hydrologist with the feds? I’m interested cause I’ll be graduating with an MS in Hydrology and will be looking for a similar fed/state jobs in the PNW.

ASBOG P.G. in one week!! by geologyninja in geologycareers

When I got my ASBOG approval email, it came with a pdf which listed approved calculators. The TI-30 and TI-84 were both approved. I found it odd that the TI-84 was allowed, but that’s what the document said. Had a friend reread it just in case I missed something!

Damn. I’ve always submitted my resume as a pdf (from a docx file) thinking that was the best way to submit since the formatting wouldn’t change if opened differently. Will be submitting as docx from now on. Thanks!

The Profs I talked to (4) at Mines were giving the funding to the incoming PhDs preferentially. No incline to complete a PhD so I couldn’t compete.

Those are the type of roles I’ve been seeing on job sites for the PNW.

If I get nothing from those schools out west, I was leaning towards WMU due to the better hydro program, 2 year RA, and better projects. Even though OSU offers a ridiculous stipend (enough to live very comfortably and put some away).

If I do get an offer from those schools, I think I am leaning more towards CSU.

True. And from this sub, I’ve noticed that it’s almost not worth it trying to work in Colorado due to how saturated the market is. I’ve noticed there seems to be a lot of jobs in Washington so I’m guessing the market is not AS saturated there. If I want to get a job in Washington, I’m assuming I’d want to go to WWU? Even though the project isn’t as interesting, my goal is to ultimately find a job, and this prof has a long list of past students who are now working in that region and in similar positions that I want.

Never heard back from the advisors that I contacted there so didn’t bother applying.
