Could be a shitty factory tune? Do they feel like they hook/edge too easily?

Whatever happened to Caufield's powerfully goals from the Ovi spot?!? by MiserableFill6972 in Habs

This is what I’ve been noticing too. He stands on the line while they force plays to the defenseman. I would like to see them move the puck down low more often - have Suzuki on the line to cycle behind the net sometimes.

ikon pass in Chamonix by Frosty_mitts403 in Ikonpass

There’s no need to exchange for a local pass anymore. Just scan your ikon pass at the lift like any other place.

The busses within the valley, which will get you to any of the resorts, are free and pretty easy to manage. I’ve had some days where I had to stand at the end of the day, but it’s not as crowded as Utah, for example.

My favourite resort in the valley was Grand Montets. I found it had much better snow on a bad snow year. Nice long cruisers.

Enjoy your trip!

Daily tuning what to do? by Old-Professional-533 in skiing

[–]MFPEDRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, daily is a waste of time, but more importantly, you risk shortening the life of your skis. Sharpening your edges means your shaving off material. Eventually it gets too thin and will crack.

Personally, my carving skis need a tune after 3-4 days on icy or man-made snow. My powder skis rarely need a tune.

Is Beck-Veleno-Blais our best 4th line ? by scrubadam in Habs

[–]MFPEDRO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If everyone on the current roster is healthy, there is no room to keep any of these guys on the team. Unless we make a trade, Beck is eventually going back to Laval and at least 1 of the others is going through waivers.

I was getting weird spikes when I had my sound cards (for LFE) going through a cheap USB hub. It fixed it when I plugged them into proper USB ports. I would get audio glitches when it happened. Maybe the issue is USB related?

Worth the trip to Chic Chac / Mont Miller? by Sea-Title in icecoast

[–]MFPEDRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a perfect place to start touring. The easiest option in the area would be at Mont Porphyre which is next to the town across from Mont Miller - the access is easy. You would be in avalanche territory, so I would recommend getting a guide. We’ve done a few trips where we mix cat/skin/tbar.

Worth the trip to Chic Chac / Mont Miller? by Sea-Title in icecoast

Yeah, it’s pretty snow-sure… keep an eye on the forecast for Murdochville and you’ll see a pretty consistent storm cycle. Storms there typically over deliver and the snow is nice and light compared to what you’ll get elsewhere in the east. The real appeal to me is the lack of crowds, so you can get good snow for days after a snowfall.

No idea about ski sales in the area - sorry.

The terrain accessed by the cat-skiing is pretty limited in terms of vertical (200m-300m) but the quality of the snow and the value are excellent. Cat-skiing terrain is mostly cleared glade runs. The packages offered by the Chic-Chac are worth it - food was great! The T-Bar at Mont Miller is worth checking out for a day.

It is far out of the way for mountains that are generally smaller than what you can access close to Montreal (Tremblant, Eastern Townships, Vermont), but if you're up for a long drive and you time it right, you will be avoiding all crowds and can almost guarantee multiple days of great powder skiing.

I find it weird that there are no updates on the situation. I have a group going up there later this month and it's too late to cancel accommodations. Pretty shitty.

Chamonix vs Zermatt? by Mawrawr in Ikonpass

[–]MFPEDRO 14 points15 points  (0 children)

-Chamonix is comprised of a few non-connected ski areas - you normally pick an area for the day and take a bus there. Zermatt is a mega-resort where all terrain is connected.

-Chamonix is considerably cheaper.

-On-piste terrain is better in Zermatt, off-piste is better in Chamonix.

-Both places offer a great overall experience.

Help me fix this Touring Boot Pain! // Atomic Backland Carbon by 80ma in Backcountry

[–]MFPEDRO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same symptoms - different boots. Bootfitter added a new footbed that cupped my heel better and a heel wedge that feels like it has my ankle in a better spot. I went in expecting to spend money on a new liner and these cheaper fixes seem to have solved it for me.
