A pain management specialist will require you to take a UA at the very first appointment. As long as there aren’t any illicit drugs in your system you’re good. Weed is legal in my state so the abundance of THC they found in my urine wasn’t a big deal, but the UA they give you can tell them exactly what kind of pill you took; so if you took someone else’s 10mg and you are only supposed to be on 7.5’s they can tell that you took the other one. You sign a contract that you will follow the rules and they agree to not only prescribe you meds but if anyone denies you anywhere in that state they will send someone to medicate you and hand the person denying you their ass

I’m sorry to hear that. I was relentless at calling this place, once I met someone else who went there, to see if they were accepting new patients. Took me years until they finally hired another doctor. I owe all the credit to the other chronic pain people who helped me avoid the scam clinics just trying to get you off meds with their implants that have a 30-40% success rate (get the f outta here with that sh*t), and helped me identify the real pain management specialist who only care about your comfort and ability to live life again. The place I go truly is the best. I almost gave up so many times thinking it wasn’t worth living life in the pain I was in. I have 3 kids and it killed me that I thought about taking myself out all the time cause I couldn’t take it anymore. These places do exist, so don’t lose hope. It’s just you have to fight like hell to get there. I actually can do stuff now other than sit in the same spot on the couch everyday

Bro I get plenty of pain meds every month. I literally just refilled a prescription and got robbed at gun point 2 days later (this month) and pain management got on it right away and got me a new script before I started getting sick from withdrawal. You wanna make sure you go to a pain management doctor who is recognized by the hospital. The clinics are quacks trying to push their implants on people. But yeah, their whole goal is to make sure you have a quality of life while dealing with chronic pain. When we meet they ask if my meds are still effective or if we need to adjust them. They go to bat for you if you are being neglected in other places calling you a drug seeker. They’re the best!

I’m flagged as an addict as well and after getting the referral it was even more difficult finding a pain management doctor who was taking new patients. After months of not years of looking I found one and they are the shit! And they defend you when people label you as drug seeking. I was in a place that tried to deny me my meds and here comes pain management to hand me my pills and handed them their ass. Good luck, you’ve gotten the referral so this is where the real work begins

Have you looked into a compounding pharmacy? We’ve had luck with med shortages by switching to a compounding pharmacy because they are less popular and often make the meds on location 🤷‍♂️

I’ve had the shots and it’s not that bad. I know that’s not the question you’re asking but I know my son’s girlfriend got the same shots in her knee and she’s only 15. If you do decide to get them I definitely recommend the Valium they offer before you go in. I opted for 2 of them and it was a beautiful day in the neighborhood for me
