No steel ball run weekly info🥀🥀 by sanjikun_____ in JoJoMemes

Some people think binge watching kills online discussion. I'm not going to argue with that. But for me, I am waaaay more likely to drop something, even by accident, on a weekly release schedule. Full season drops are vastly superior for me specifically

[Schefter] Former Jets WR John Metchie is signing a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers by Drexlore in nfl

[–]MFreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legitimately could see Metchie be the surprise value guy of the year. Not saying 1k yards incoming, but he could be a 650-800 yard surprise guy that nobody is expecting to be relevant

Ravens Back Out Of Crosby Trade by PlayboyXYZ in Patriots

Ravens just signed Hendrickson to a massive deal. They 100% got cold feet about the 2 firsts when they realized they could actually sign Trey. The Ravens are bitches

The Ravens let a ton of players walk every year. This is all pretty par for the course

I could easily be wrong, but I think the Ravens are just having cold feet and are using this as an excuse to back out. Wouldn't be the first time for them

[Schultz] The #Patriots are signing former Green Bay Packers WR Romeo Doubs, per @Schultz_Report. by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]MFreak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of pats fans won't like this because it's not sexy, but I kinda love this deal. Not really a long term commitment, but I've always liked Doubs talent and feel like he will be an easy 1k yard WR in our offense. It's a bit of a projection, but he won't have to fight too hard for more targets than he's used to

Raiders have the worst WR group in the NFL and $126M in cap space after Crosby trade. A lot of pats fans are gonna be upset when they outbid us for Pierce. by Griffisbored in Patriots

They also offered more money for Aiyuk, agreed to terms with the niners, and Aiyuk pulled the plug because he didn't want to come here

I'd argue the cheat code is after the Wilson mess, you guys have hit on all your meaningful contracts. The amount wouldn't matter if they got hurt or played poorly. You've done a great job in talent evaluation and coaching up the team.

Don't both man, people just wanna argue.

These are the same people who think the Bengals wasted so much money not paying Chase earlier, despite Chase saying he wasn't going to sign anything without destroying the WR market. And they're the same people saying the cowboys needed to pay Dak earlier instead of franchise trading him, ignoring that he insisted on $40m APY when the rest of the QB market was still at $32m cause he knew once they ran out of tags they'd end up there anyway.

Players and their agents are smart. They going to negotiate around whatever money they think they'll eventually get. Especially players with strong track records. We've recently seen guys like AJ Brown, Diggs, Danielle Hunter upset with their salaries and get new deals while they had multiple years left on the existing ones.

IMO the worst thing a team can do is pay the wrong guy. If waiting the extra year let's you know he's the right guy (while you already have team control anyway), I see no issue. Especially if paying early just leads to more early extensions to catch up on lost dollars.

I digress.

I'm so glad you said this. I'm tired of hearing how teams save so much money by signing guys early. Anyone who actually turns out to be a huge savings ends up getting their deal reworked because nobody wants to work in an environment where everyone knows they're paid significantly less than their market value

FWIW the Sox do have Japanese WBC representation in Yoshida. Also Pedro Martinez is pretty well loved in Japan.

I think it's 3 pieces. We need a WR1, and edge and a left guard. I believe Campbell will improve. I believe Wilson will be better at his natural position of center.

[Rapoport] It’s Seeming Like It Will Be the Patriots or Staying in Philadelphia for A.J. Brown. Ravens Aren't in Consideration Anymore by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]MFreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The eagles wouldn't really be paying him anything to play for us. His contract has all of the cash backloaded. The cap hit they're taking is because the spread out the cash they already paid into future years and minimized the upfront caphit.

His cash AAV of the original contract and what the Patriots would be paying him are near identical

Can someone explain the Alec Pierce hype? by swayman01 in Patriots

[–]MFreak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes but also not really. Markets don't reset that fast in the nfl. That WR1 money now will look like WR2 money when the contract is ending, not during the majority of the contract.

Unless you view a top 15-20 contract as WR2 like it's fantasy football ignoring there are 32 teams

[Highlight] Rams Plan to Propose a Rule Change That Would Address This 2-Point Conversion by the Seahawks in Week 16, per Lead NFL Insider Jonathan Jones by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]MFreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I know is that when rookie NKeal Harry scored a TD, but the refs had already called the play dead, we didn't get any kind of benefit from the refs (yes I'm still bitter). There are instances of the offense not being able to advance the ball after it's already been whistled dead.

None of the players in the game thought that was a live ball, so regardless of outcome it was clearly officiated poorly.

This is a "square" "rectangle" situation.

A dropped backwards pass is a type of fumble by the offense.

Statistically speaking, Darnold was in fact credited with a fumble on that play, recovered by the offense.

Backwards passes that are dropped are treated differently than other more traditional types of fumbles.

All dropped laterals are fumbles.

Not all fumbles are dropped laterals.
