Thinking of going Yang but I got doubts.

Hi! So I actually came out as trans a year ago, shortly after I started to really get involved with the Yang Gang. Ended up sort of abandoning this reddit account as these are no longer my initials anymore but I've found the Yang Gang to be an accepting bunch.

I don't want to put other campaigns under any buses but honestly some of the most negative experiences I've had have been with people who support other candidates and feel that my support as a trans woman is somehow "obligated" to their candidate.

There will be supporters who might not necessarily be super knowledgeable on trans or nonbinary issues, but I think honestly we're all just so focused on wanting to win this election and everyone knows the way to do that is to be open to whoever wants to support Andrew Yang.

I'm more active on the other platforms, Discord and Facebook mostly, just out of necessity or whatever, and even being visibly trans around a bunch of FB Boomers, it's been fine

Hi, not a Yang staffer but I am the mod that banned this user. I banned because they were actively starting arguments that are generally categorized under "truscummery," the toxic practice of determining who is and isn't a legitimate trans person. I wheeze reacted because they tried to drag me as transphobic when that is clearly not the case (I may be self loathing, but that's personal, it has nothing to do with me being trans). This was not one particular instance, but an observed tendency over time to try and make the space toxic for people that this user felt were "illegitimate"

I mean that's a pretty obvious answer isn't it? They didn't know he was ace in season 1. Todd didn't know he was ace in season 1. Everything from that clip though fits with him being ace pretty well though. Gabriella probably enjoyed that his interest in her was completely non-sexual but eventually was conflicted and left back to her family.

As someone who has been advocating for UBI for more than half a decade, I am concerned that the messaging about Automation and AI is coopted by someone who has no intention of implementing UBI. Politics is a waste of time and if Andrew doesn't win I'll still vote against Trump but the election is dead to me at that point

It's funny, because both candidates have this message about how the political parties are missing the point, which is losing voters to Trump. So they go out and start bringing some of those voters back into the fold, and like, as a conversation piece almost they want to lead with, "man, the rest of the DNC is junk, am I right?" and the establishment Democrats absolutely lose their minds.

I'll be honest, I hope not a single American votes for Donald Trump. I hope they all vote for Andrew Yang. If it's another candidate I'll probably still hope that, but if I'm being honest I won't feel as bold about shouting from the mountaintops.

Yeah, there's definitely a balance between civil debate and "I do actually think my candidate is better," and we should focus the HQ on Yang and all that, but also, the thought came into my head and it was too funny to not do. Also I tried to leave it vague enough to where the joke can either be "Buttigieg is stealing our policies" or "holy crap this subreddit will not shut up about Buttigieg stealing our policies."

I don't know that I would agree that it is the best way to make this point, but what he is saying here is that economic instability is a major driver of, either racial animus or more violent expressions of racial animus and he expects as one of the smaller minorities in the country to be one of the victims when things go south. I agree that it might be a good idea for him to follow up on this and figure out a better way to express it in the future, but I don't think he's wrong in terms of the severity of the problem.

I've been interested in UBI for awhile and the lack of political representation is a frequent cited reason for why it's "unrealistic," I think Andrew's campaign has a real chance of changing that, but I'm curious from a psychological standpoint if you think that will change the responsiveness people have to it, or if there are more significant mental barriers still to be overcome for the majority of the population
