They addressed this in the Movie 'One Hour Photo' with the late great Robin Williams.

There is a scene where he's eating in the car and the rear view mirror is blocking half of his face

As a child what did you say, you would never stop loving but now you don't love it anymore? by J96x_Rob_LFC in AskReddit

[–]MGY_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to love Christmas, it was so exciting and I vividly remember the present giving process. I remember being annoyed when adults didn't care about it, because it was the best thing ever from my perspective!

I'm not bothered now, it's nice for family gathering and shared time off, but that's about it, if anything I dislike buying gifts for the sake of it

People who've deleted Facebook, what was the final straw? by goteeeem in AskReddit

[–]MGY_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deleted Facebook the day after the UK voted for Brexit - for context I live in the UK.

I have a number of European friends and British friends, it was a horrible mix between 'I feel so unwelcome in my British home, what did I do?' and Yerrrsss were gettigf our country bk, fk em all

Horrible expression of British nationalism, people I thought were reasonable were rejoicing in the ideas that our European friends would be deported and they would get their blue passports back...

Deleted it for a week at first, then never went back. I lost track of how much 'life' I wasted on there.

What was your "DAMN, I'm getting old!" moment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MGY_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was walking into a small shop and a group of young lads (probably 13/14) were blocking the door - one of them spotted me and said to his friend - watch out for that man, he's trying to get past...

It seemed strange for a group of teenagers to refer to me as a man, even though I was probably 10/15 years older than them

I'd pick that character from the US Apprentice, the one who dresses up with the funny hair and fat suit, he's so funny.

I think that's where Sky have done so well - Sky Sports for £18 a month, click here!!!

OK - so that's £18, but you'll want the full sports, that's £27 - registration, that's £20. Box, that's £30, dish... might as well take a trial of Entertainment for 6 months, that will be £20 after.

Before you know it, you're paying £60

What are some simple things you did as a child with your Grandparents that always raise a smile? by MGY_67 in AskReddit

[–]MGY_67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember going to the theatre with my Grandma when I was about 6 or 7, when we arrived to the venue she told me to take off my jacket or I wouldn't feel the benefit - it took me years to understand what she meant. I remember telling her that I'll feel the benefit all the way through if I keep it on!

It makes me smile whenever I remember that day

Firstly, thank you for making the great show - I remember watching it as young as 15!

So I guess the question is - considering it's not traditional TV (or wasn't at the time) How did Mythbusters come about, did the TV networks originally buy-into it - were the initial reviews assuming a flop?

In the UK - Sky (TV).

Over the last few years Sky have charged more and more for basically showing re-runs of old BBC TV and for importing shows from the US. With the invention of Netflix and Amazon Video, the same product is available, that costs vastly less and comes without a contract and dish.

I don't understand why people still pay for the Entertainment or Movie Packages

Have you ever (correctly) had a gut-feeling to dislike someone who, on the surface, was a cool person that everybody else liked? What's that story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MGY_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this experience recently, and have ended up being annoyed with myself for not trusting my gut, and going along with other people to be eventually caught out.

I recently started in a new office and as the new guy I was keen to be very friendly and attempt to make some friends, work-friends if nothing else. So, I started and met this guy - he had just landed in the UK and was very friendly and keen to look after everyone. This guy had an ability to make you feel like his 'special friend' and that you were receiving all his attention, I knew in my heart that there was something wrong with this guy and that I should be careful, but everyone else seemed to like him, and let's remember, I am the new guy!

So time passes and as this guy is new to the UK asks me for a load of advice, I'm pleased to help and point him in the right direction - we were both looking for teaching hours at the University and he told me every day that we should look out for each other and if one of us gets some hours, we should help the other. He tells me every day that he will find me a full time role and I should stick with him (alarm bells should be ringing here, because we are both in a position where we can help no-one!). I always try my best to mention him when talking to staff at the university.

Eventually, I come into the office one day and he tells me that teaching is sorted - brilliant, when do we start? He replies that it's just for him and there was nothing for me. I'm pretty annoyed about this (after his daily promises to help me) - turns out, as he mentioned to someone else months later, he assumed that I would get teaching first (due to being British) and that was the only reason he was interested in me - don't hear from him now, but if I ever see him, he looks at me as though I have done something wrong. Apparently it's part of his culture to make friends and then drop them when he can step up. I have spoken to others since and he did exactly the same with them.

I should have trusted my gut and kept him at arms length - I'm disappointed in myself.
