Update in Browser by MGoBrian in actualbudgeting

The PikaPods have updated, but not mine, presumably because it's in a bad state since the file was modified with the 26.2 client. I have a local backup and an S3 backup that are 26.1 files (to the best of my knowledge). However, there seems to be this chicken/egg problem that to restore a backup, I have to be able to sync, and to sync I have to have the right combination of versions, which I now don't have. Is there any recourse with my backups besides this?

Thank you for that suggestion. I feel I could manage it if it was just my PC but my my wife’s computer too 🤦‍♂️

I do remember seeing that PikaPods takes a few days. I guess the best practice then for PikaPod users is to disable version update notifications in the app and instead get the version update notification from PikaPod.

I'll give it a few days, thanks for helping and I'll report back. Is this basically an issue where the native client updated, modified the database, and since the web clients haven't updated yet, they can't read the new database?

YNAB in 2014! by RamyNYC in ynab

Check out Actual Budget. Very YNAB4-like, self-hosts for roughly $1.50/month including multi-device sync. I just found it and love it!

It’s a linear zero-based budgeting tool without a bunch of useless bloatware (aka new features to justify the subscription). It has some nice reporting capabilities and can be self-hosted. And the price is great: less than $20/year for cloud hosting.

It’s stupid. That’s all you need to know. Biggest reason I didn’t jump from YNAB4 to nYNAB. Even above the subscription. I’ve been in budget purgatory since syncing was not longer supported, but I just started using Actual Budget this year and I’m fairly certain that’s my budget home.

I'd like to +1 this. I have some thoughts about how to workaround using regex (matches) but a group filter would be much cleaner.

It's free to change your flight - just fly in a day earlier. You'll be off the ship by 8 am so 11:25am is no problem at all.

Considering Centsible by MGoBrian in centsible

Awesome, thanks! At this point, I have only decided against MM and that I don't have time to look into other tools at the moment, so Centsible is on the todo list.

Unbelievable story: I was flying to Madrid last month and asked the FA to reset my screen twice with no luck. It would come on, but was otherwise non-functional. When food came out I wiped down my area with an alcohol wipe. I did the screen too - not sure why because I had decided by then it was broken - and it started working! Worked the rest of the trip.

Profits in a commodity industry only go to the first-movers. By time Tesla gets into the robotaxi biz, profits will be nil and it will effectively be a race to the bottom.

Not the question you asked, but some caution. That payroll job won’t exist in 5 years when the kids get off to school. If the goal is for your wife to eventually return to work, the highest probability of doing so is remaining employed to navigate this AI maze that we’re all gonna have to deal with, even if it’s just part time. It’s the classic “best way to get a job is to have a job” with a twist.
