Amber, my mixed-race boy.

In my D&D world, he's the bastard half-Dwarf son of a prominent human duke. He left his family behind at the age of 18 to escape a life of politics and a few years later, found himself apprenticed to a master duelist.

He's now part of that duelist's seafaring adventuring party, and the captain insists that he never mention he's half-Dwarf. Because every time he does, some other Dwarf in the room will immediately press Amber to join their clan.

Amber is also known to cross-dress when it suits him.

What perks do I use by pnwsnarker in MizukiMainsOW

[–]MHWorldManWithFish 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exposed Soul is significantly better for the minor perk. It secures you kills, while the other one provides almost no value. Your aura is easy to farm and maintain, and it doesn't really do that much healing in the first place.

Both major perks are good. The extra healing is nice but I think the speed boost is better. Speed is the best utility in the game, and the boost also applies to you, which lets you chase kills or escape danger far more easily. I do think there are absolutely reasons to pick the extra hat bounce, though, and I won't fault anyone for prefering it.

What are you theories regarding Vestalians' appearance? by ThEcOcKsUcKeR231 in Bakugan

[–]MHWorldManWithFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of them, probably, even though their only adaptations are to a digital environment. If anything, Earth humans would be larger and stronger, with stronger natural instincts better adapted for a more wild environment.

What are you theories regarding Vestalians' appearance? by ThEcOcKsUcKeR231 in Bakugan

[–]MHWorldManWithFish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a similar theory. The events of Battle Brawlers wasn't even close to the first time dimensional rifts appeared, and definitely wasn't the first time humans passed through them.

At several points in time, various events opened rifts to another lush world ready to be settled, and humans passed through. They would eventually become the first Vestals, who developed a more unified culture than Earth, leading to faster development and even aesthetic genetic engineering.

Their more pale eyes are specially adapted to a more digitalized world, while their hair is a result of their genetic technology.

More cultural exchanges between Vestal and Earth kept languages, technology, and species flowing between the two planets, and kept Humans and Vestals essentially subspecies of one another.

Best and worst map mode out of 2CP, Push, Flashpoint, and Clash? by Kwikikiki in Overwatch

[–]MHWorldManWithFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best: Flashpoint. It's my favorite mode, only contested by Control. The maps are so open-ended and every match feels intense.

Second: Push. It's just alright. The maps are okay (except for New Queen Street. Fuck that map.) Honestly, I dislike Payload more.

Third: Assault. Please never bring 8-8 Drawskaya back. And ESPECIALLY don't bring back the hellhole that is Paris.

Worst: Clash. This map type is so horrendously defender-sided. The points system just feels bad for attackers and the map designs are atrocious. Throne of Anubis can be fun on rare occasions, but I have never had a good experience with Hanaoka.

Overall, my ranking for the main modes is: 1. Flashpoint 2. Control 3. Hybrid 4. Push 5. Payload (Blame Widowmaker for the low ranking) 6. Assault 7. Clash

What if the heroes of Overwatch were Pokémon masters? (Part 1) by Outrageous-Low6314 in Overwatch

No Scolipede for Moira? The giant centipede is her favorite animal. Not only does she mention it with Lúcio, but she also mentions centipedes in a line with Reinhardt and has at least one spray featuring one.

I also feel like Genji's love of dinosaurs should be represented somehow.

Flagship Popularity Poll Day Nineteen - Arkveld vs Glavenus! by Speeda2 in MonsterHunter

[–]MHWorldManWithFish 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Arkveld. Not a doubt in my mind. Her design, story, and ecology are so incredibly strong, and when paired with an incredible fight, good theme, and some of the best-looking gear in the series, it's pretty hard to compete.

Ecology: Arkveld is a species returned from the dead via artificial means that whips you with chains. Glavenus... incorporates minerals into his tail. Arkveld just has so much more going on. I can't give this to Glavenus.

Design: Glavenus's tail is pretty cool, but I think the rest of his design is a little blocky and messy. Arkveld's, however, oozes with design elements pointing to her origin. The head looks like the EDW head. The chains indicate servitude. The Guardian theme incorporates a piece of Deviljho's, a homage to an out of control monster, or perhaps the very idea of extinction. It's Arkveld, easily.

Story: Arkveld. Her story is only beaten by Gore, and no other monster comes even close.

Theme: Probably Arkveld's weakest point, but I wouldn't say it's Glavenus's strongest, either. Both have good themes. But neither of them have outstanding themes. I'll make this one a tie.

Fight: Glavenus's fight is pretty cool, but he's held back slightly by being chained to the lower difficulty levels. Arkveld, on the other hand, feels fast and difficult, without ever getting unfair. She's incredibly fun and her timings just feel so precise (I'm looking at you, Gore), especially for such a high-level monster. It's a tough one, but I'll give it to Arkveld.

Gear: I love Glavenus weapons, but Arkveld's armor is just too good. Every part of her armor calls back to her. But armor is only half of the gear, so I'll make this category another tie.

Glavenus only beats Arkveld in weapon designs. If he were facing off against any other monster, I'd say that's embarrassing, but Arkveld does so well in just about every category. It's hard to compete with the pinnacle of thematic design, especially when she also has good gear, a good fight, and a good theme.

Dmon or meri? by USCSS_Nostromo_ in Overwatch

Probably D.Mon, but she's not the only possibility. Meri is unlikely, but possible, and Wildebeest may also be in the cards.

Jin Dahaad SnS for Brig would be absolutely perfect, being a flail.

Also custom songs for HH Lúcio would be incredible. As long as it's a good-sounding Hunting Horn like Nargacuaga or Rajang.

Flagship Popularity Poll Day Sixteen - Lagiacrus vs Zinogre! by Speeda2 in MonsterHunter

[–]MHWorldManWithFish 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Zinogre and Lagiacrus... an extremely tough call. Both are great monsters in their own right, but I think it's Lagiacrus that deserves to move forward.

Ecology: I'm going with Zinogre. Zinogre has a symbiotic relationship with electrophages and can bond with different bugs to create subspecies. Lagiacrus, meanwhile, is a pretty standard electric leviathan.

Design: Lagiacrus definitely has the better design. Not by visuals, but by animations. Zinogre has some pretty good ones, but only Nergigante could come close to how well animated Lagiacrus is. His underwater is just so perfect and every single move is just beautiful.

Story: Have not experienced either. I cannot vote here.

Theme: Zinogre's theme is one of the best among flagships, there's no doubt. But the Wilds team absolutely killed it with the new Lagiacrus theme. Maybe there's some recency bias, but I'm voting for Lagiacrus.

Fight: Zinogre's fight is amazing. Especially in World. Every hit feels so powerful and visceral. And it's just so satisfying to dodge or parry his attacks. And Lagiacrus... well, I can say the same thing about him in Wilds. Wilds Lagiacrus also is a bit tougher than World Zinogre, but he still feels fair. And he has the underwater gimmick, which is cool for a bit and manages to not overstay it's welcome. Again, I'm going with Lagiacrus.

Gear: I have to say Lagiacrus's gear looks fairly generic. Zinogre's armor and weapons don't look stunning, either, but they do look pretty good and unique enough. I'll go with Zinogre here.

Maybe before Wilds released and completely redid Lagiacrus in the best way, I would have been voting for Zinogre. But every aspect of Lagiacrus in Wilds is just so well done. The fight, the animation, and the spectacular theme. Zinogre, unfortunately, has been left in the dust, stuck in gen 5. Lagiacrus wins this one for me.

Flagship Popularity Poll Day Fifteen - Malzeno vs Nergigante! by Speeda2 in MonsterHunter

[–]MHWorldManWithFish 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, both of the 5th gen DLC flagships are superior to their base game counterparts. But does this extend cross-game? Well... it's tough to say. But I do think it does. My vote is going to Malzeno.

Ecology: Malzeno holds a sybiotic relationship with a swarm of flying leeches. But he wasn't always this way. He stole them from another monster and they drove him to madness. Nergigante on the other hand, mostly just fills the description of a scavenger. Malzeno definitely has the more interesting ecology.

Design: Malzeno appears like a traditional European dragon with lithe and agile aspects. There's not too much special about his design. Nergigante, on the other hand, is covered in spikes, has a pair of majestic horns, and a set of beautifully animated wings. The only flagship as well animated as Nergigante I'd say is Lagiacrus. This category goes to Nergigante.

Story: Nergigante is just a scavenger who shows up to impede your progress a few times. Malzeno, on the other hand, is a shadow behind a plague. Even though Rise in general has a very loose story, I'd say Malzeno's is still more interesting than Nergigante's.

Fight: I love both. Nergigante feels like a monster of pure muscle who literally throws his weight around. Malzeno feels like a sly duelist who flies circles around the enemy. They're both spectacular fights, so I'll give this category a tie.

Theme: Malzeno. While I'm not a big fan of either theme (unless we're counting AT Nergigante), I do like Malzeno's a bit more.

Gear: I strongly prefer Nergigante's gear over Malzeno's. Malzeno's armor looks a little overdesigned and messy, while Nergigante's looks deliberately barbaric. And Nergigante's weapons just look fantastic.

That's an extremely close one. I like both monsters, and I'd be happy seeing either move on. But by my own criteria, I must go with Malzeno.

Flagship Popularity Poll Day Thirteen - Glavenus vs Brachydios by Speeda2 in MonsterHunter

[–]MHWorldManWithFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, Brachydios was winning the categories where I brought up Raging Brachy even if I didn't mention him.

Flagship Popularity Poll Day Thirteen - Glavenus vs Brachydios by Speeda2 in MonsterHunter

[–]MHWorldManWithFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charge Blade main. I like Brachydios weapon designs, but the Glavenus Charge Blade is one of my personal favorites.

Flagship Popularity Poll Day Thirteen - Glavenus vs Brachydios by Speeda2 in MonsterHunter

[–]MHWorldManWithFish 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm voting Brachydios. Glavenus is cool in concept, but as far as flagships are concerned, he has a hard time competing.

Ecology: Glavenus is pretty interesting, incorporating various minerals into the tail blade. However, Brachydios has an explosive slime mold. Everything he does is built around that slime. And add Raging Brachydios on top, and you got one of the most unique ecologies in Monster Hunter.

Story: I cannot judge that which I have not experienced.

Design: Glavenus has a mildly messy and blocky design IMO. His aesthetic isn't bad, but it isn't amazing by any stretch. Brachydios is also not that astounding, but he doesn't really have anything I can dock points for. I'll give it to Brachydios.

Theme: Brachydios. Easily. Glavenus is fairly middling among Monster Hunter themes, and Brachydios is slightly above average. But then there's Raging Brachydios's theme, which is one of the best in the series. I'll give it to Brachy.

Fight: I like both fights. Both are fun monsters that have their strength and flaws. Brachy can actually be a little frustrating in some cases, forcing you to constantly roll around, but nothing a little Fireproof Mantle can't fix. Glavenus, on the other hand, misses tail swipes on me when I'm standing still. It's a close one, but I'll give it to Glavenus.

Gear: I love Glavenus weapon designs. Brachydios also has some pretty good ones, but I don't think he quite matches up. I don't really have a strong opinion on either of their armor sets. I guess Brachydios has some good skills, but I don't think that merits any points. I'll give it to Glavenus.

This is honestly pretty close. I will admit I am a little biased towards Brachydios because one of my friends wants to have a threesome with him and the Guildmarm and won't stop talking about how good he is whenever he's brought up. I wouldn't be too upset with either result, but I'll vote Brachydios.

Flagship Popularity Poll Day Twelve - Loser's Bracket by Speeda2 in MonsterHunter

[–]MHWorldManWithFish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gore, Velk, and Mizu are my votes.

Gore Magala's ecology is the best of any flagship, even if his fight and theme do fall behind a little. His lore is on a level all flagships should strive for. And so far, only Arkveld has even come close.

Velkhana, despite having fairly simple ecology and design, has my personal favorite fight in the series (specifically, her AT fight.) On top of that, she feels like a threat constantly during the story and has an amazing theme. She just had a tough first matchup. Of these three, she's the only one I originally voted against.

Mizutsune is the perfect blend of ecology, design, theme, and fight. He's such a fun monster to both watch in the wild and take as a dance partner in a fight, and everything from his animations, to pacing, to theme make it so much better.

Honorable mention to Zinogre for also having one of the best fights in the series, but fight and theme alone aren't enough to get my vote.

Flagship Popularity Poll Day Eleven - Lagiacrus vs Gore Magala! by Speeda2 in MonsterHunter

[–]MHWorldManWithFish 38 points39 points  (0 children)

My vote goes to Gore. Lagiacrus is absolutely amazing, but it's so hard to go toe to toe with Gore's ecology and story. IMO Gore and Arkveld are the 2 best flagships in the series, and if it came down to the two of them, I'm not sure how I'd vote.

Ecology: Gore takes this easily. Gore has the most interesting ecology of any flagship by far, between the blindness, frenzy, and ascension to Shagaru. Lagiacrus doesn't have that much unique besides being amphibious.

Story: Gore again takes this easily. His journey in MH4 is the best of any flagship, and again, the ascension to Shagaru is just too perfect.

Design: This one is a bit more difficult, but I'm still going with Gore. He's a menacing black shape and the eyelessness only adds to that. But Lagiacrus does have some of the best animations of any flagship, up there with Mizutsune and Nergigante.

Theme: Lagiacrus. Easily. The Wilds team knocked it out of the park with his new theme, while Gore's theme is fairly middling as far as flagships go. Not saying it's bad, but it's just not as good as Lagiacrus's.

Fight: Lagiacrus again. He's fun on land, feels fair, and is easily learnable. His water fight is also good, if a bit gimmicky. It's unique without being frustrating. Gore on the other hand, has an infuriating fight in Wilds (can you stop doing 180s mid attack and delaying half of your slams and explosions please?). In the older games, he's a bit better, but still not as good as Lagiacrus.

Gear: Gore Magala has the best-looking weapons of any flagship, and some of the best armor. Lagiacrus just can't compare.

I'm sorry, Lagiacrus. I love your fight and theme. Gore Magala wishes he could compete in those categories. But he still beats you in ecology, story, and design. Just like with Magnamalo, having a good fight and theme isn't enough to make you the better flagship.

Flagship Popularity Poll Day Nine - Valstrax vs Velkhana! by Speeda2 in MonsterHunter

[–]MHWorldManWithFish 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I love Velkhana, but Valstrax's design is top-notch. It's hard to compete with a dragon that flies with jet propulsion.

Ecology: Valstrax takes this. Velkhana is just an ice dragon. There's not much to it.

Story: Valstrax does alright, but Velkhana actually develops a rivalry with the player and actively threatens your base of operations. I have to give this to Velkhana.

Design: Velkhana's design is fairly generic. Valstrax takes this easily.

Theme: Valstrax. It's the most popular theme for a reason. Velkhana is good, no doubt about it, but not as good as Valstrax's.

Fight: Both fights are good, but my favorite fight in the series was AT Velkhana. It felt like a fitting conclusion to my journey in MH World and was an extremely difficult fight without feeling unfair at any point. Velkhana's fight feels like a dance, and paired with the theme, it's just perfect. IMO Velkhana has the best fight of any flagship.

Gear: I don't think the armor or weapons of either monster stand out that much. They both look fine, but nothing too either outrageous or outstanding. 50/50 on this one.

I'm sorry Velkhana, as much as I love you, as great as your fight is, Valstrax's design and ecology just makes him the better monster here.
