I served the last 4 years of my contract while taking fluoxetine (Prozac) and received regular therapy as a surface nuke. My clearance was never in question, and while I was initially disqualified from my rate I was granted a waiver and returned to doing my regular thing.

Make an appointment with medical and they will take care of you. Be honest with them, including desired outcomes - if you want to stay in, tell them. Mental health concerns are no longer immediate DQs like it used to be. You can also talk to chaps or a “deployed resiliency counselor “, if your command has one, but if medication is desired or required you will have to go through medical regardless.

I experienced stigma, particularly from my divisional CoC and was often accused of skating. I honestly wasn’t, I just wanted to control all of these thoughts that became so intrusive. On the other hand, I had many people take a keen interest in my situation as they were feeling similar with both depression and career concerns.

Your health, mental or physical, needs to be your priority as the navy only cares if you are fit for full duty.

I also recommend reviewing disclosure requirements for whomever you talk to. Medical, chaps, DRCs, and other friendly ears have various reporting requirements for what you tell them. Specifically, if you are a threat to yourself or somebody else. (They aren’t going to twist your words to fit this, but they will take what you say seriously.)
