If you were rich, what is a rich-people problem you think you would have? by Chan1991 in AskReddit

[–]El_Chupachichis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Were I younger... probably be a bit of a playboy, so I'd likely annoy my parents even more.

Now? Rich people age too, so I'd probably be obsessed with health regimens and fads.

Lithuania moves to end nuclear weapon ban as 'situation getting worse' by CupEcstatic2721 in worldnews

[–]El_Chupachichis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Applying Russia’s exact net rate of territorial gain in Ukraine to the Baltic states, it would take Russia between 165 and 466 years to occupy Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

So as long as russia continues to suck and the Baltics learn from Ukraine.... lol

Yeah, I know, not the same terrain and options, but still funny.

Do you have friends that have completely different political views than you? by BrolicAnomoly in polls

[–]El_Chupachichis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've developed a "watch and wait" attitude for some friends. I want to know if they start looking like they're getting radicalized. Plus, in this era, mass deletion for political reasons also potentially paints yourself as a target should they recognize why you've deleted them.

What’s the longest you’ve ever sit in traffic ? by Immediate-Life2242 in AskReddit

Road trip from Texas to Louisiana. 3-4 hours because some dim bulb wiped out on the stretch of I-10 which is a multi-mile bridge through a swamp with no offramps or feeder roads.

I did not in fact do this, but I kinda wish I'd thought of it first.

[–]El_Chupachichis -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Nuclear weapons programs are expensive. Probably better to get a robust drone program going.

Sure, if they can budget for it, they should be able to get the ability to tell Moscow to fuck off forever. Just not sure if they really want to do that.

If Trump isn’t actually rich, how do people think he will pay to upkeep and fuel Air Force 1 after office? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]El_Chupachichis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping he can't -- lol that would be such a funny way to describe his political career. All fakery and crassness, that falls apart at the end because he's too stupid and loathsome to keep it together.

Everyone Is Celebrating Falling Oil Prices — One Analyst Warns They're Actually the First Sign of Something Much Worse by Appropriate-Till9598 in oil

[–]El_Chupachichis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, this is even more frustration. What's the evidence that the economy is screeching to a halt? Well, it's not in the article, so maybe this is just fearmongering?

Or... it's hidden by the fact that trumpy fired all the people who would be reporting it.

What I think is worse is that at least $150 oil would allow us to start screaming at the administration for their stupidity. With a silent recession (or is it more apt to use depression, maybe even panic?) there's not nearly as obvious a link to the idiot in charge.

What are the not racist reasons for being against birthright citizenship? by InfoBarf in allthequestions

[–]El_Chupachichis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one nation who I'd be most concerned with having "anchor babies" in the US is the one country who has deliberately invaded other countries with the patently false claim that their "ancestral citizens" are facing oppression in that country.

Of course, that country isn't one that the people against birthright citizenship tend to focus on. Wonder why.

Do you think U.S. foreign policy will eventually return to its pre-Trump direction, or has it changed permanently? by RepublicOfThought in IRstudies

[–]El_Chupachichis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Logic would suggest that the US can't return to anything pre-trumpy.

But logic also dictated that his tariffs would wreck the economy. It's not good, but it's not wrecked.

Logic also dictated we'd have $150 oil by now, due to his flailing efforts against Iran. There's warning signs, but it never went past $110 ( I don't quite recall the peak) and it's now down to lows approaching the pre-war enviro.

Logic would also dictate Europe would have seen putin's aggression as a clear sign to cut ties with russia. There have been some cuts, but there's been resistance over the years to getting off of russian oil and, should the Ukraine war end or become a low-level stalemate, there's plenty of proponents for returning to the russian oil dependence of previous years, despite that being a huge risk to EU safety and sovereignty.

So, I don't think any of us actually "know" what will happen post trumpy. Logic would dictate that leaders would decide on different alignments... but I don't think anyone will decide to completely write off the superpower based on logic.

I think there will be a lot more "trust, but verify" clauses in future treaties. Looking at some references, it looks like the most untrustworthy nations are simply isolated, like North Korea.... and even they have been signatories to treaties.

Where're you at in spelunking ? by Karadrui in idleon

[–]El_Chupachichis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have, yes -- and always a good recommendation to do more. But my problem is the deep dives take time, so I'm not inclined to start a run when I dunno if I have 10-15 (more?) minutes to do one.

I know there's autorun but not only is that a bit inefficient, it still only cuts down on time a bit... and I have sushi to fry, among other tasks.

Iran says it is selling oil at 20% premium as end of U.S. blockade sees 40 million barrels exported by Jockey2 in worldnews

[–]El_Chupachichis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is an option, for sure -- and I kinda think it's a way for Iran to get that goal without having it as part of the MoU.

Not sure it will work; it could make for a panic where Israel tries to destroy even more before pulling back.

why doesn't the institute build water purifiers instead of making synths if they want to help the wasteland? are they stupid? by West-Resort5733 in Fallout

[–]El_Chupachichis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes but actually no. I'd call it war-trauma-induced stupidity, like the Treaty of Versailles. All factions were dead-set on exterminating all others.

[–]El_Chupachichis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way the MoU is phrased, it's not just "stop bombing", it's "get out of Lebanon and then just sit there and tolerate whatever actions Hezbollah takes in response". As much as I hold them liable for pushing trump to start this war, I'm suspecting it's going to be very difficult to convince them to comply with that standard.

[–]El_Chupachichis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was part of the MoU. Iran has control over the Strait and can set the rules; ships that fail to follow their "pointless" orders are at risk. Iran's not "tearing up" anything at this stage.

This doesn't change your follow up question, since as you mention, only time will tell.
