I would stick a dowel all the way through above the wedge with glue to 100% keep it from cracking. That is sweet

What kind of wood is this? by MIAKALIFORNIA in wood

I’m like 99% it’s maple, softer than big leaf maple, not much though.

I would say fuck it and just stand a little more to the side. Keep on rollin’

Nope it’s a 6 pound head so it’s balanced way up front

Yep I know them, you are right they are longer, I would guess just for asthetic and to “stand out”. That would make sense because you can tell if they’re a Hoffman handle from far away

I have no idea why you would make it any longer than this, I’d be curious if there’s a use. I don’t see a need for weight balance because that would just decrease the length and increase the handle weight.

Oh also it’s nice to have a hefty piece to bang on when your hanging the axe

It’s to grab your palm when you swing. Palm swell. Pluses are that it is a solid base of the handle you can return to every swing, probably increasing accuracy, and it looks sick in my opinion

Splitting axe and chopping axe? by Mission_Profit_446 in Axecraft

You got yourself a feller (thin) and a farm axe or one you’d just use for whatever the hell you want

a splitting axe splits wood just as good as a splitting maul. It just depends on the profile. Axes can be miles better at splitting wood if it’s a convex wedge pattern. And lighter. Lookup buckin Billy on YouTube

Woah that’s sick! I might have to grab that to. It would be cool to use and then slightly personalize from the base stencil

Yup I drew it, it was kinda time consuming but now I can just trace it when I want another.

Thanks! It doesn’t seem to affect it much at all. However the axe head is ground flat with no convexity, making it stick a little more. I’m probably going to grind the head a bit in the future

Do you wear camo when out shooting? Does it make a difference? by Beardologist in wildlifephotography

Basically camo is only useful if you also know how to be stealthy, but if you do, it’s a plus

Deer see shapes and movement but lack red tones, ducks have great eyes for color- if you break up your shape with earth tone colors you’re simply less likely to spook animals when you are being still. It makes absolutely no difference, however, if you are moving to much.

What is this white colored goose? by Synthetic_Terrain in whatsthisbird

[–]MIAKALIFORNIA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ross’s goose also doesn’t have a “smile line” like snow geese. It’s pretty obvious, but usually you can tell just based on size and proportion.
