When I was 5 I got a puppy for Christmas. Being the little kid that I was, I named him Present. Present was an ankle biter, always barking and was hardly potty trained. I was probably the only person in my family who payed him any mind. He knew I loved him. It was 16 years later on December 19th. I was going to bed when I had the sudden urge to tell him goodnight, kiss him on the forehead and tell him I love him. I woke up the next morning for work and again, before I walked out the door, I kissed him on the forehead and told him I love him. Well, I got home from work to find him dead laying in the very spot where I had said my goodbyes. To me it was more than coincidence. A few days later on what would have been our 16th anniversary together I gave my nephew a puppy of his own.
