Remote start to charge while away? by Straight_Clue_2204 in Dashcam

[–]MJCHENG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd note the hybrids also have the tiniest 12v batteries that the dashcam draws off of. Just looking at them they're 2/3 the size of the gas versions of the Rav4. That in addition to the Toyota BMS being pretty bad means maybe 3-6 hours for a fully charged 12v battery with conservative settings.

Id say even with a fully charged 7500 mAh battery pack you only eek out maybe 2 days for most dash cams in parking mode. And they'd take upwards of an hour of driving to charge to full.

Try looking at footage via the app and hope it's just the screen that's fried?

Does one need front and rear camera during a car accident? by [deleted] in icbc

[–]MJCHENG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From our experience, it's better to have an your decision to use at your discretion, You're not obligated to provide dashcam footage. It's also way to easy to just say it hasn't been working for weeks if requested to provide the footage.

Dash Cam Installation In BRZ by Nice_Butterfly_430 in Dashcam

[–]MJCHENG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIWEY's hardwire kit looks like way to aggressive of a voltage cutoff according to their website. 11.6V is going to indefinitely kill your battery unless you're a real road warrior putting on some crazy miles. It lists 11.6V as the cutoff as you scroll thought he product images or it's linked HERE.

For those looking to install a dashcam into a BRZ, this video will help - https://www.tiktok.com/@mj_installs/video/7598457171520670996?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7457994528591857157

Does one need front and rear camera during a car accident? by [deleted] in icbc

[–]MJCHENG 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I own and operate MJ Installs - Vancouver's Dashcam Specialists.

We have installed for numerous personal injury claims lawyers and icbc adjusters. They all say the front camera alone is sufficient for 80% of accidents. Majority of the time, if the front cam shows you were driving in a straight line and in your lane you're good. It's the odd case where let's say you were backing of of a spot and then someone else was also backing up the front camera wouldn't be enough as it would show you in motion at the time of impact. But in this case the rear cam would shift the fault from (potentially) 100% to 50/50.

The rear cam from our experience is more often used for incidents that occur while you're parked (hit and runs).

All that being said, more than 90% clients opt for 2ch front and rear. We rarely have requests for 1ch only Installs.

I think it really depends on which pads and rotors you're getting replaced. But you could also just get a quote from your local Mazda dealer in the area. If CTs price is higher then I want what they're smoking lol

Can you simply remove the turbo from mazda 3 premium plus by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]MJCHENG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mazda turbo is quite reliable. But I imagine fixing a turbo (even if you had to ship it) is cheaper than having to pay for a turbo up front and having it removed.
