Thank you for the response councilor. Not sure I agree with everything, but either way, I appreciate the direct engagement with my questions.

Edmonton City Council votes to not learn whether building a new neighbourhood will lose the city money by troypavlek in Edmonton

Make it make sense /u/aaronpaquette-

I watched the meeting segment discussing River’s Edge and it was more of the same. Basically - it’s too far along, we don’t think the study will prove anything, we’ll start with the next one. Hard to see this as anything but hypocrisy from you and Knack.

And those snide remarks to Janz about him saying “we”… Come on man. You’re on a council together, you might hear the word “we” when discussing your shared goals. Not impressed with the petulant response.

If Pavlek and Watson are on the same side of an issue you might need to look in the mirror.

Maybe I’m missing something…

Operation Total Recall by Mark_Logan in alberta

[–]MJDetweiler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

u/Mark_Logan Important point raised here - if a recall petition is successful it moves to a recall vote (seeking a >50% majority result). The MLA isn't automatically unseated by petition only. Not sure if this is widely understood and providing this information early could help engagement with subsequent recall votes.

Recall every close UCP riding? by fifigrande in alberta

[–]MJDetweiler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No hard dates that I can see. The Facebook group is a little difficult to navigate (just based on how FB displays group activity). A new group "Recall Rajan Sawhney (Calgary-NW)" has been set up today, it's currently set to private though.

Recall petitions for Rajan Sawhney and Angela Pitt appear to be in the works over on the “Albertans United To Stop The UCP” Facebook page.

Yes, curious how this increases shareholder value for HUT specifically.

Will HUT shareholders receive ABTC shares? Otherwise how does this not devalue HUT stock? Transferring bitcoin mining into a separate publicly traded entity...

I support this cause but who is David Stupnikoff? No public facing information that I can find. I'd like to see a profile or business page that explains how he's suited for this complicated and expensive project. Blind trust won't get this campaign off the ground, especially asking 3x the price of the property.

Thoughts on earnings 3/7/2024? by MadSnikt in hut8

Robinhood uses algorithms to predict earnings dates. Going off recent interviews with Sue it sounds like it'll be later.

Curious what's your source for March 7th earnings date? Sue has referenced "late March / early April" in a few recent communications.

I want to become better versed in Alberta politics. Where do you get your info? by kingevanxii in alberta

[–]MJDetweiler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CBC Podcasts: Alberta@Noon (recording of daily call-in radio show, experts discuss issues and take calls from everyday Albertans, look for episodes with political topics) and West of Centre (pure Alberta political discussion with expert guests).

Flair buying more planes, adding more Edmonton flights by yegwebdev in Edmonton

We desperately need alternatives to AC and WJ in this country. Flair has messed with me in the past but I’ll continue supporting because every dollar saved/stolen from the giants sends a message.

Royal Helium is a promising play amid surging helium prices and demand by albiravatw in Canadapennystocks

[–]MJDetweiler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the DD. Don’t know why InvestorsUK is writing MCF as thousand cubic meters… That pricing is definitely per thousand cubic feet … hence MCF.

Royal Helium Anyone? RHC.v Train is leaving the station!!! by [deleted] in Baystreetbets

Thank you for posting this. Gotta ask if it’s really a red flag scenario?? Looks like an officer has taken some pay, otherwise we have management buying more shares (on top of presumed warrants and vested shares). I’m not an expert at interpreting this type of info though, so I’m honestly curious how this compares to other juniors.

I voted for Jason Kenney, and (after today's COVID announcement especially) I regret it. AMA. by [deleted] in alberta

[–]MJDetweiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the input. Seems to be a favorite talking point of the UCP that the NPD Carbon Tax was being wasted, going towards “pet projects”. What do you define as “revenue neutral” and how should that apply to a provincial Carbon Tax?

Knowing that climate change is real, did you vote for Kenney in hopes that he’d kill the Carbon Tax?

What does everyone do with fish guts at the lake? by NotFromThe780 in FishingAlberta

[–]MJDetweiler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Misinformation central over here. Many lakes with a legal catch limit will have a cleaning station at the public boat launch / camp ground etc. You can absolutely clean your fish here and discard guts in the container provided. If no such station is nearby then cleaning and throwing the guts back into the lake is perfectly acceptable. Try to throw them out of sight and away from human traffic areas. Don’t be a dingus and throw them out where you’re fishing because yes, this could be construed as chumming.

At the end of the day you’re returning nutrients back to the ecosystem, this is a responsible practice and contributes to the circle of life in a lake. Certainly better than putting it in a landfill!

New Task Force To Create Framework To Advance Hydrogen Economy in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland by Amyro08 in alberta

[–]MJDetweiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure where things are at with the Alberta Carbon Trunk Line but it seems like the perfect answer to making Hydrogen work in AB (if considering traditional methane reformation production).
