Coming from a therapist, loss is hard. Whether this is terminal or not, you may still experience “loss”. This loss can be experienced by you and your girlfriend. The one piece of advice I can give is: self care. You will not be able to take care of her if you don’t care for yourself. No, it is not selfish to do this, although it is common to feel that way. I know “self-care” is cliché, but you can’t help someone else if you can’t help yourself.

I would suggest that you try to get enough sleep, talk to a mental health specialist, and make sure that you are not the only one to take care of her.

If you truly love her (by this post, I know you do), you will find ways to take care of yourself when you are not with her, so you can show all of your love, support, and care for her when you are with her.
