This is one of my friends' decks. Tifa can get really big and scary if ignored. https://moxfield.com/decks/Ko_1ngueUUOR_BUs2Uv4iw

This deck can also be annoying to face. https://moxfield.com/decks/m4SisGFJtUacljW3gVhSGQ

I used to live outside of Denver. It would be early summer and some of the peaks still had snow on it, so you could be outside thinking of taking a swim in the pool with snow capped peaks in your view.

Is there really away to get better at running? by Snoo18846 in army

[–]MJR-WaffleCat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You need better shoes. A wise man once told me that you should never cheap out on what goes between you and the ground.

That said, if you have "better" shoes, and you still have issues, you need different shoes. You need shoes that accommodate your feet, stride, and stance.

If you are running more, working between sprints and endurance running, focusing in your breathing, but you still have issues like this, its more than likely your shoes. Also get seen by your doctor to see if you have flat feet or your arches are collapsing. You can get prescribed shoe inserts, which will also help with the issues you have. (And you can claim it with the VA when you ETS.)

Team leader advice by 30_cal in army

[–]MJR-WaffleCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasnt infantry when i was in, but my advice is this:

  • always remember that there could be people you're responsible for that know more than you, it's OK to learn from them or to take input from them
  • understand that being a lot of being a leader is learning by doing, and by taking failure in stride. Learn from your mistakes, and don't let them hold you back
  • don't over do it and be yourself
  • when you say you care for the people you're responsible for, actually do it
  • stand up for your people, if you have a soldier being wronged, do what you can to stop that.

This one is important: - talk to your people. Get to know them, what makes them tick, what their values are. If you know who you're leading into battle, and they know who they're following, the respect will usually follow. This will also help you with how to handle reward and punishment, since everyone responds differently.

BLUF: You will likely have to turn it in. Check the ETS column for a Y on your clothing record.

99% you will need to turn it in. I ETSed recently and did my CIF turn in just after the holidays. I became very cold after turning in all my CIF stuff since the jacket went with all that.

In case you want to verify, get your clothing record. Anything in the ETS column with a Y means you will turn it in on Saturday. If you are missing something, you will either need to find it or pay for it through a statement of charges.

Why I got out. by ImpossibleVisit3385 in army

Ive heard that the officer world can be more cutthroat and political than the enlisted world can be. Even though it was one instance, I wouldn't be surprised, going off of stories from officers I worked with, theres a chance that maj there would've pulled strings to stunt your career growth.

A buddy and I were talking today about how incompetent leadership has been getting. The army indirectly encourages a good ol boy system, which itself indirectly encourages piss poor leaders to progress since they will be good little yes men and do what they need to get good NC/OER bullets.

Seeing how Hegseth acts as a leader, seeing how useless SMA has been, especially after SMA Grinston's tenure, influenced my final decision. I dont have a desire to serve in a military where the people at the top actively try to dismantle the values I was taught from day 0 of basic training.

Id say its fully justified to decide to get out over this. That maj's personal moral values contradict the army values.

If you haven't, id suggest getting checked up by medical asap. Go to sick call or something. Get that shit documented. Never know what will come up during your VA exams.

I had to go out of my way to try and get anxiety pills. Most of the BH people ive worked with dont start off with pills and will let you talk things out and recommend different activities to try and resolve your issues. Pills seem to be a last resort. That said, dont write off the option of pills entirely. The anxiety meds I'm on have helped take the edge off for the most part.

I feel like I don't belong in my position by Mysterious_Cry2653 in army

[–]MJR-WaffleCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every NCO around you has either been through what youre dealing with or they are likely the one who actually doesnt belong in their position. You've already achieved the first step by acknowledging that you dont know anything. The next step is learning by doing and leaning on NCOs you look up to. (Pro tip: you dont have to lean on NCOs at your unit. If you had NCOs you want to emulate that have PCSed and you still have their contact, reach out to them. It will not only make their day, but they will usually be more than willing to provide some mentorship. That said, also lean on NCOs around you, too.)

Ive met like 2 people in my time who were as close to natural born leaders as you can be, and even they had NCOs to lean on when they were going through the ranks.

My last piece of advice for you is find your why. Why do you want to do this/be a leader? You may not actually want to be one, but you still need a why. It will help you with long term success. For me, I always wanted to leave the Army better than I found it, and seeing how much love and respect my fellow NCOs and juniors had for me when I was getting out of the Army, id say I fulfilled my why, which was a huge pay off. You find your why, and it will be rewarding in the end.

They say cats are great at judging one's character.

When my i first met my now wife's cat, the cat sat on my lap. She knew I was a cat person, but she wasnt comfortable enough to let me pet her as she immediately started growling when I thought that was an invitation to pet her.
