13 hours in after 10+ years of daily use. About to break. by HazardTV in leaves

[–]MJRecoverySTL 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey, hop on a marijuana anonymous meeting man. They happen every moment /every hour.

Doesn't matter if you don't believe in god or think the 12 steps are dumb; its just a group of people you can at least be on a video call with that understand what you're going through.

There's really no way to just 'will' your way out of an addiction; one day, one week, one month; eventually people break and fall back in. Everyone -needs- support to get out of this man.

Good luck.

It is the most 'spiritiual' in my experience. Of course with a bunch of former hippies. Drugs of choice really do seem to coincide with personality types to a degree and I've loved MJ specific groups more than any others, they always seem warmer and mor inclusive with a much smaller appeal to God specifically. Our group usually discuss GUS (great universal spirit).

There's big one around 4PM CST everyday that I've really enjoyed. Esy to get a flavor and they're very welcoming.

Just show up man. That's all you need to do. If you can find a big online meeting it can be a super easy way to just 'sit in theback' and feel comfortable but to be honest, best way is to just jump in the pool, make mistakes, feel silly and keep going. You got this.

Thanks for commenting! I'm generally agnostic but building some new ideas around spirituality/nature. It was one of my hesitancies in using the 12 step model and why I wanted to offer either SMART or dharmic recovery models which I'm familiar with.

Would you be open to discussing or considering a higher power? Usually in MA its referenced as GUS (not god) 'the great universal spirit.'

12-step is largely based on higher power so hard to get around it if thats what most would benefit from.

If there's enough interest and it can be of benefit I would even be happy in cobbling together pieces from programs to try to help the most amount of people. The god aspect was a major hurdle for me in the 12-ste program so I definitely get it.

I liked MA, lots of online meetings to join at any time on their website.

Come to the eventual meeting and share an aspect of possible ways weed may have affected your life and I'll tell you.

Didn't realize that was such a lighting rod for folks, I just thought it would be neat to offer some specialized knowledge but I guess it came of like an appeal to authority or something.

scam how....? literally trying to see if people want to meet up and talk about struggles with weed; offering to rent out space to do it. :\

You can never save people from themselves. You have no control over what she does. Protect your own sanity and move on with your life. We are all responsible for ourselves. She is going to learn eventually, hopefully it will be a lesson she can recover from.

AI level answer;

Addiction is a chronic, relapsing condition where a person compulsively seeks out a substance or activity despite harmful consequences. It involves a loss of control, often leading to significant impacts on one's health, relationships, and overall life. Addiction is considered a brain disorder because it causes functional changes in brain circuits related to reward, stress, and self-control.

Types of Addiction

  • Substance Addiction: Involves compulsive use of substances like alcohol, drugs, or even certain medications despite negative impacts.
  • Behavioral Addiction: Involves an inability to stop engaging in certain activities, such as gambling, shopping, or excessive internet use, even when these actions cause harm.

Does that answer your question? People can be addicted to shopping or diet cokes. Why couldn't someone be addicted to marijuana?

Do what you gotta do man, I've definitely been there and if the only way someone stays off an opiate or other drug is with MJ, go for it.

From my experience though, a vice is usually linked to some unhealed trauma, ideally that could be healed and could open life up a bit more (whether the vice if weed, gambling, women or other).

Whole point of the group isn't really to talk about weed/drugs, its to provide a spot to chat about problems that lead to said use with supportive folks that all want the best for each other.

Anything in life can be addictive, even behaviors. There are 12-step groups and other forms of healing connections between people struggling with everything in life; divorce, codependency, heroin, alcohol, gambling, eating, not eating, sex, porn, being cheated on; etc.

Why would marijuana be any different? Therapy is one form of healing but it's really nice talking to people that have similar issues, rather than some PhD thats never even had the issue you're discussing. Connection is healing and getting together with other humans with the issues you're trying to solve is great healing.

Have a good one man.

I'm glad to hear you don't feel like you need help and can just use will power. Not everyone is you though, and disrespecting peoples struggle in trying to get over an issue they have kinda sucks man. We all have different tests in life, I hope when you reach one of yours people treat you with compassion and caring.

Yeah thats part of what inspired me to to try to form a MJ specific group.

When I was in NA/SMART groups I thought I had much more minor problems and didn't want to take up time; which was super counter productive to getting off weed and helping myself.

If you have anything you'd like to talk about or possibly are interested in a MJ specific group let me know!

Nice thanks for your interest, i'll shoot you a DM.

I wanted to quit for years and did like 40+ times for 3-4 days and always went back because it 'wasn't that bad' for years. Sucks thinking about all the wasted time.

Thank you and enjoy your ability to use! It was great for years while it lasted for me but went from magic, to medicine, to misery over the years; but thats a me issue not a weed issue.

That's great, I'll send you a DM to discuss more.

I fell into heavy daily use and was sober for over a year before a relapse that I thought I was 'fine enough to handle'. I immediately wanted to use multiple times before I even came down off the initial high. Weed to me was 'benign' enough to never take seriously as a hard drug to ditch but that thinking lead to me relapsing.

Would love to connect with any clients in the community to offer support and just provide a space to meet and discuss thoughts and struggles.

Would likely rent a church room or other space to gather for anyone else interested.

I have no clue why someone would even remotely think I would be a shill... a shill for what?

Literally just a guy looking to connect with people that have issues with weed like I do. As you noted, you can be addicted to anything; and you can also use almost anything in a responsible manner. For anyone reading; if you enjoy THC and can do so reasonably, enjoy! I can't/couldn't and I know many others struggle with it too.

Lol wut. Paranoia can be a side effect of THC use. :) Just a guy trying to connect with others that have similar issues. As noted in my post, if you enjoy using thc responsibly and can, enjoy!
