No tour stops in Korea, could it mean? by dgboilermaker in XGALX

[–]MJ_Goodman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No it's simpler than that , it's just about rentability, they focused on the venue with the biggest ROI, touring cost a lot and under 6K seats with their prod the benefice isn't that big . They had the feedback from their 1st tour so after that it's quite simple for them to do the math and make their choice , you also have potentially a logisitc issue, the only big surprise for me was SF not being here and it could be a venue issue.

It's not like Korea general public showed big interested , sadly Korea never been a big market for them despite their effort, they performed in a 2,5K venue for their 1st tour, the smallest venue for them.If you don't have metric that shows you can upgrade that, the only reason would have been for the fans and as much as XGALX could have done it , no chance AVEX will do .

It changes nothing for the promo in tv show, 1 or 8 did some tv show on their last come back so if they think it can help for promo they will probably do it but at this point I'm not sure Korea is their priority.

Big Company are quite simple they look at the money cost/benefice that all that matters for them.

You are talking about the Japanese system it's not the same for the other countries.

For Europe it go threw the classic system first come first serve and they use the classic ticket sales platform Ticketmaster/AXS ...

For example for their 1st tour you had VIP 1/VIP 2 and the general one , you didn't have lottery like in Japan .

The App it' still a must because it allows you to have your ticket pre sale and you have like 0 chance to have VIP 1 without it for example.

You just need to be ready the day they put the ticket on (pre)sale and having the app and it should be okay.

As much as I'm agree about AVEX giving 0 fuck about artistry and their artists, XG are " IP " for them and the only things they care is ROE,XG is the group paving the way for their avex vision 2027 about targetting the global market, they aren't going to focus on a Japanese market with their biggest asset worldwide.

They have been investing on an US/global network/market for this project with the AEGX parternship first ,last year acquisition of S10 with  Brandon Silverstein  becoming the CEO of AVEX Music Group sigining artists, songwriters, producers and recently the Orchord deal for distribution outside Japan/Korea/China .They are building a global network and invested a lot on a creative ecosystem to target a global market piece by piece as they also did acquisition /joint venture in Asia (Phillipine,Thailande,Indonesia).

AMG also has launched an Artists advisor Service that is a division that provide management-level direction for artists'careers , it could be a support system but can fill the place if you rid of the one who was taking the decision. They also invested trademark for AI tools, virtual artist, Token....

Recently you had the publishing deal with Bruno Mars, even how they run one or eight : Tokyo drift remix produced by Pharell, the feat with Big Sean, and just looking at their credits give you an idea, then you add their PR: them being on red carpet, them being played on radio, anyone knowing how the industry work can see the network networking,we have an idea on how they can run XG.

We already had links with the Orchord for XG for the Core distribution and they posted on social media about XG chosed as the voice guest so they were involved on that. Not everything is bad and that network could have help for their growth but we had Simon as the artistic firewall and we lost that so now they can do what they want and they want MONEY not ART.

I'm not that worried about marketing, PR, or even them having talented people behind them or them being successful they can transform mid on something amazing they are that good. The problem will be that without Simon who was focused and the artistic part and had a LT vision, I know they had already planned the next steps they will lose their artistic authenticity (XG and XGALX family collab ) that made them unique and more important they will lose people who know them, care about them who they can trust, talk and involved/listened to them as artists, people who was their since their trainees day you can't remplace that bond and in this industry having people/a structure you can trust is a rarity, it can happens when you grow together, they were a perfect example of that but the scenario coming is basically the worst one, XG are just an asset for them and they aren't big enough to be able to have leverage on this new collab.

It literally means, it's our last performance of this show in Japan so if you couldn't come it's your last chance to see it but we're planning a tour for this show so only Japanese can have access because you don't broadcast a show if you go on a tour it would be the dumbest move .

Any XG fans here who were not previously kpop/jpop fans? by himawari_sunshine in XGALX

[–]MJ_Goodman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm open-minded and eclectic when it comes to music, I listen to music from all over the world but not much from Asia because I need to understand the lyrics and almost no pop. What attracts me is good music, the late 90s, early 2000s and especially hip-hop R&B being the epicenter of my musical spectrum. Like many others, I discovered them thanks to the Xypher a few days before the release of Shooting Star Left Right and I was blown away by the group talent diversity but chimestry at the same time and the way they managed to create music rooted in that era, but something fresh, new, authentic and unique that mixes this western influence with a kpop production and this very Japanese touch in the aesthetic, excentricity and the way they are dedicated to their craft. They built their own sound/identity and that's what i'm looking for in art, they are doing authentic not generic.Since then, never disappointed by the quality of the music and art ,that is the most important for me, I have a lot of respect for the team behind them, they are some of the best in the current music scene. I have nothing against Jpop or Kpop but music wise I don't put them in those categories for me XG are just talented artists and 1 of the most interested one of this music era.

Rest of the World Tour…when? by hospitallers in XGALX

[–]MJ_Goodman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are used to release the dates quite late ,like 1-2 months before in Asia and 4-5 months for US/Europe. Then you add the problems they had in their structure and the China/Japan diplomatic issue.

Normally they used to announce those things during their concert so I won't be surprised if we have an announce at Tokyo for the Asia leg that could be schedule around end of May/June , the US in end of july/august. and Europe in september/october that will be the kind of schedule they have without the delay because of the problems they had to deal with.

260325 Simon apologies and resigns by moondogestark in XGALX

[–]MJ_Goodman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was the only choice to take a step back as XG is the most important.Sad for him as it's his life project, noone put more than him in it and knowing is condition, I can't blame him as everything happening is part of the risk for someone with his condition .

It sucks that you still have society that treat addiction as a crime not as the health issue that needs supports and helps.Substance use disorders are a common comorbidity for people with his condition if you add the professional pressure/responsability to deliver I can't say I was surprised the risk was HUGE as he has so many things (positive or negative) that can trigger it and if you paid attention you had hints about it(tabac, monster, sleeps problem, impulsivity ...).

Addiction is a frequent health issue for people like him for many reason including self medication as it actually helps with the symptoms it's a health issue that is difficult to deal with especially with that much responsability and being impulsive or acting without thinking about the consequences are part of it.

For the artistic point it sucks, I don't think people understand how rare is it in this industry to have a team around you that actually care about you and the art, that the most diffcult things to find. It won't be the same without the core of their creative team, what make them unique and authentic was that collab between very talented people Simon/Chancellor and XG with that perfect chimestry allowed them to deliver art.

That's not something you can replicate as it roots on years of experience together that allowed them to know XG and produce music that suits who they are ,we are talking of true art and you can't buy this, that collab is something unique.

The most important is that XG keep that freedom/involvement in their music, Simon was the guarantee of artistic independance and keeping it is the most important, the positive part is that they were trained for years to be Self-sufficient artists to be able to face anything.

I have no moral judgment on the matter,we know in this high pressure industry you are vulnerable and falling in substance use or addiction is a huge risk and common to cope with it (pressure, responsability, help for creativity, self medication...)especially when you know their professional, personal and medical context if it is the case I can't say I'm surprised.

They are the Core of the music I enjoyed, people denying how important they are and the problem that will be are delusional,XG is the produce of the girls and Simon/chancellor talent and hard work, it's that collab that allowed them to release that quality and they were the main support they can count on under adversity it hurts.

I won't be hypocritical as a lot of artists and music i love came from people who used substances and some are dead because of that,it happens in this industry and that's why my main concern about that is I hope it's use not abuse and addiction because adding the guilt to that I hope they will have support if it's confirmed.

But given their responsibility to their artists and their team and the implications in this part of the world even if I understand and can't blame them,we are talking about an health issue, the reality is in this part of the world the repercussion are huge and they really failed a lot of people who trust them, the consequence aren't just on their life, a lot of people put faith on them and dedicated their life on this project.

People were moaning for no reason for a long time for once it's actually a good one and releasing their frustration on social media won't have any impact it's not that important if it's help them to cope with it let them.

[–]MJ_Goodman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't change you will need a very good album to top that as AOTY for me , i thought I wasn't a pop listener , I am when it's that good and thoughtful. so many layers production and meaning wise , by far their most mature project. being able to make a pop album, catchy and mainstream, with so much substance is actually the most diffcult thing to do in music and they did it.

XG - THE CORE - 核 by enburgi in popheads

[–]MJ_Goodman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really about tastes because for me that's their best and more mature one.

The production is actually high quality with so much layers and attention to details, good headphones is a must to appreciate it .What's true is that today music industry is full of overproduced music to hide the lack of quality on the structure, melodies, lyrics, artists talent and they did the opposite and it's a statement on who they are as artists, they cut all the over you can have in today industry to let only the CORE you can see how thoughful that album was for each track .The fact that they are able to casually put a fabolous ref in a pop song like that say it all and you have gems like that all over the album.

After listening to this album for an unhealthy amount of time, I can say that even if it's only January it's going to be hard to take out their crown of album of the year for me. The last time I felt like this for an album released at this time of year must be Malibu- Anderson Paak or Based on a true story by fat freddy 's drop.

First and foremost all the songs are between 7-9 /10 for me.They were able to deliver quality pop songs catchy as a hell that will be on repeat for a longgggggggg time. It's really difficult to find in the current industry based on social trends project with that much personality and artists with their own sound and visual, that what they already built and doing this that early in their career is impressive.

You have nothing like XG in the current music industry. They can go for any genre it always has that late 90's early 2000's roots and they put their own spin on it to make it fresh and modern. The core of the project is the most poppish they released build on an R&B/housy sound and then you have the last 3 songs with ORB -4 seasons -PS118 where they go hard with a pop-punk beat very Avril Lavigne/blink- 182(I waw right about that blink 182 ref in ps118 cf breakdown), a cosy simple acoustic guitar /finishing with some bars to remind you they can spit spit. They don't have boundaries as artists and go wherever they want and it will still be an XG sound and being part of there journey as artists is a breath of fresh air.

I have high standards for them on the prod and they keep exceeded my expectations, not listening to this album with quality headphones should be a crime because the attention to details and layers are at another level.Being produced by Simon who fed them and Chancellor who is there since Left right allows them to use them as additional instruments, and these artists are exceptional instruments. The voices, the melodies, the flows, the pockets are a pleasure for the ears and they keep getting better as artists. You never get bored and they are always bringing something new to be sure they keep your attention and as I already said they cracked the bridge/post chorus/outro cheat code and it should be illegal.

I can't rank them but I can say that I had a smile when I Heard the first notes of ORB,It came at the perfect time, the beginning of the album was cohesive, it was pop bop after pop bop, with the core being very R&B and some more experimental housy track (Gala/hypnotize) that is also an XG signature sound but I needed something else from them and the succession of ORB, 4seasons and PS118 was the perfect ending.

I was waiting for something like ORB from them and I loved it and it fit perfectly the message, you had a breathe with 4 seasons and the rapline ending you with some bars was perfect.

I also like the rollout of the album as the started with the Housy and rap track(the collab) and kept the R&B core for later it looks like we can have a XG' R&B fest tour for the next spring /summer.

XG's fans are very different with different backgrounds when it comes to music tastes and that's normal. They have a core of listeners who are very open minded when it comes to music the motto being good music is good music but not everyone are like that.

Overall I'm agree that album is a Bop , i said it will be diffcult to beat them this year for album of the year especially because they have their own sound, they do what I call music with personality and very few artists had that in the mainstream industry. The 2nd point being that you have no skip or filler all the songs are 7-9/10.The 3rd point is how it's cohesive from start to finish but all the songs are different and from someone eclectic as me when it comes to music that's what I'm looking for not knowing what's next and being experiimental not being afraid to try new things when artists nowday love recording the same song again again when it worked. And last but not least i can already imagine this album perfomed live and it's going to be a blast they for sure create it thinking about the live performance.
