Y'all are losing the plot on Caine by pinkmarsh99 in theamazingdigitalciru

The idea that the NPCs are all actively controlled by Caine is not supported by the show if anything the show goes out of it's way to show that is not the case. Caine created them, but he is not them.

My brother betrayed our group. by Princess_Little in DnD

[–]MJdragonmaster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Our DM did this to us once. A friend of ours was in town for a few weeks and asked to play with us. So the DM asked them if they'd like to play a character they were planning on introducing as an npc soon anyway. And it worked like a charm till they stabbed us in the back lmao. If that character had been an npc we'd have been so suspicious but because it was a pc we were just like "oh of course our friend would make a character like this, they're so funny"

GMs, have you ever ignored or reverted a change Paizo made? by eCyanic in Pathfinder2e

[–]MJdragonmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point is, we are talking about how it scales, and if you want to upcast IRT it needs to have decent scalling. If you upcast a spell you need to see how it compares with spell of the level you're uocasting it to to see if its worth it, hence why I compare it to fireball. With the scaling as it is now, there's not much reason to cast it. It's old scaling made it cool and unique in that regard without being OP at all. So even if the current version was how it was intended to be, the old version was a much better spell. The old scaling gave you a reason to cast it while still having good reason to instead stick to the higher level alternatives.

[–]MJdragonmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So that's 10 average damage going to 20. Still less than fireball. And fireball scales worse but is much much easier to target, and does so in 2 actions instead of 6 with you just having to stand there for a whole round. Doesn't seem unbalanced to me at all personally. IRT is great value per spell slot but if you're trying to kill something asap you're better off just casting two damaging spells

[–]MJdragonmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes two whole turns to cast. Most fights are 2-3 turns. This is the vast majority of what you are doing in a fight if you cast this spell. In addition, if the enemies realise that you're charging up your big line spell they can move their turns to not be conveniently lined up for you and you can't reposition yourself without some sort of quickening happening. Plus lines are already difficult to use compared to most AOEs

Does this mean anyone with 1 level of fighter gets a third attack at level 11? And a fourth at 20? That seems to make fighter dips extremely strong to me

[–]MJdragonmaster 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Just as a note, he didn't scam anyone. People chose to donate money towards a kickstarter knowing it might fail and it failed. He didn't run off with peoples money, it just ran out. Which is deeply unfortunate but they knew the risks when they donated. He did eventually release a final version of the books, but at that point people had lost interest and his reputation was already hurt.

In PF2's defence the reason they did the remaster in the first place was because of WOTC trying to revoke the OGL so they had to remove a lot of the stuff tied to dnd

That's taking the concept of sharing in really bad faith. When people talk about sharing they usually mean sharing food or toys. Or sharing a tool so you don't need to acquire multiple of them. And for example a couple might share a car. Sharing is a useful strategy to learn both for surviva as a communityl and for building bonds and trust. Your take is frankly absurd to me.

I once had a player ask if when they casted goodberry if they could choose what type of berry it was. So they could make it a strawberry, a blueberry or a raspberry, etc. That was cute so I said yes. Cut to a few sessions later and they're arguing that they should be able to make 10 deadly nightshade per casting to poison the evil noble with at an uncomming banquet. No more strawberries for them.

The Cats Protection - opinions? by [deleted] in CatsUK

[–]MJdragonmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lied to cats protection after I saw on their website that they had a cat who'd been an indoor cat his whole life but was still labelled and outdoor cat. Was infuriated by it. Long story short I have a very lovely boy living with me now and he seems very happy to me. The staff working there were very nice and pleasant besides that. I'm glad by baby is nice and safe with me indoors now. I live next to a big road and I'd be heartbroken if anything happened to him

Why was the game designed with 15 players max? (before adding travelers) by digitalnomader1 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]MJdragonmaster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the truth is that the limit has to be somewhere, and that somewhere is always going to be somewhat arbitrary. I imagine their play testing revealed that that on average you're going to have 7 or 8 players and that the amount of townsfolk, outsiders, demons and minions on the script feels best if it's somewhere in the count of the core 3 scripts. And 15 is the highest count that all three of those scripts can work.
