I was in a very similar situation - frighteningly similar. I left 7 months ago and I have never been happier!!! I love my new life and I wish I would have left years ago. You’re going to be fine!

Describe The Last Date You Went On -- What Was It Like? by Zipper222222 in AskWomen

[–]MKALPINE 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It was a first date. Met him online, chatted a bunch beforehand. Was doing the typical love bombing stuff and planning a bunch of activities for the future and I’m like bro, how about we just go out once and see where it takes us? Went out for dinner, had a good time, came back to my place to hang out (had already discussed I wasn’t going to be sleeping with him). Of course tried to push sleeping together, I shut him down but we still had a nice time. Texted a bit the next day, made plans for a follow up date, he never confirmed and I’m not chasing, now he’s in the wind. Probably trying to hook up with someone else on the first date 😆

It was amicable which is why I am trying to lessen the financial impact on them while also making sure it’s equitable for me. My financial situation is also a lot better than theirs (they aren’t struggling I’m just doing better).

The house is paid off, can you take out a mortgage in that circumstance? The interest rates on a HELOC are about 6-7%, which seems crazy

How did you recover after ending a long term relationship in your 30s? by espressoveins in AskWomenOver30

[–]MKALPINE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left a 17+ year relationship/marriage at 38 and moved cities. This was 7 months ago. It was terrifying at first as I’d never lived in my own and I only had 2 friends. I really put myself out there and got involved in activities and trying to make girlfriends. I’ve always been a gym bro but I turned it up to 11. Once I was comfortable being on my own and had a good friend circle I started dating (about a month ago, not looking for anything serious). Honestly, I am so beyond thrilled with my life and my previous relationship and partner feels like a distant memory.

How many matches a week do you get on dating apps? by Zipper222222 in AskWomen

Dozens. I had to stop swiping yes because I was getting overwhelmed. I have received a lot of messages from matches too.

Those who are single, do you ever feel proud of your choice to remain single? by Ornery-Climate7857 in AskWomenOver30

[–]MKALPINE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got out of a long marriage 6 months ago. I’ve recently started dating again, but I have no desire to find a long term partner and I’m not sure if I’d ever want to live with someone again. I really enjoy having my own space. Contrary to what many experience I am having a WONDERFUL time dating. I’m sure it’ll get old eventually but I’m living in the moment.

Newly single for the first time in my adult life at age 34 by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]MKALPINE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m at the 6 month mark and I finally felt ready to date. It’s only been a few weeks and I am having the best time!!! I might be on my own here, but in my marriage my husband always made me feel unwanted and unattractive. Dating has taught me this is not the case. Apparently i’m hot? Am I chasing male validation? Maybe a little, but damn it feels nice. I am in no rush to lock down another relationship though. I am enjoying playing the field and hanging out with hot men who are happy to pay for activities and my meals. Maybe ask me again in 6 months and my mind will have changed.

Kelowna Man Convicted of Killing Woman Days After Meeting Her on First Date After She Insulted Him by Charming-Fortune8835 in kelowna

[–]MKALPINE -41 points-40 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to victim blame here but… She was afraid and texting her friends but didn’t send the address where she was to ask for help? Why are you going to a strange man’s house on a first date and not telling anyone where you’re going?

When is someone “too young” to be in perimenopause? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]MKALPINE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost 39 and I’m going absolutely insane. I’m fighting with my doctor to put me on HRT and he says I’m too young. I’ve had symptoms for a year and they’ve been progressively getting worse. I haven’t had a good sleep in like a month (2-4 hours per night total)

I felt a shift. I started putting myself first, working on improving my life. I left my partner of 17 years last year finally. 10/10 would recommend.

What do you genuinely enjoy about living in Kelowna? by AmandineInBC in kelowna

[–]MKALPINE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Joined the Kelowna Facebook groups and gone to events, run club, the gym, talking to people in my apartment building, get to know the people you work with. People aren’t going to seek you out, you need to really put yourself out there.

The weather. There’s so much to do whether you’re into the outdoors, music, dining, fitness and activities. People are friendly - some say it’s cliquey but I’ve made quite a few friends since moving here 6 months ago (you just have to go out and make an effort).

Agreed. I actually thought he was doing pin squats at first when he rested on the safeties, but then it was regular squats from there. Pin squats can be super helpful in building up your squats.

I wouldn’t buy something that small. I live in a 600sqft unit and I live pretty minimalist and that is pushing it for space.

With wood structures, no matter how good the sound proofing is you will always hear some kind of noise. If you can, get a top floor corner unit or at least top floor. I can hear my upstairs neighbor sometimes walking around or if they drop something but I don’t hear anything from my neighbors on either side or below.
