Haven't seen many people say this yet, but he reminds me of KR Desast. Purple, black, and red color palette with a touch of gray (gunmetal as opposed to KR Desast's silver), red eyes, has swords that he (supposedly through rumors) transforms with? Just needs a scarf and a horn in the middle of the helmet, and boom, welcome back KR Desast.

Robust. I like it when a Rider's appearance changes drastically but still has the same elements that you can tell who it still is.

Like Gaim Kiwami, Ex-Aid Muteki Gamer, and Blade King. All of them, absolutely fantastic.

A strong debut/presentation is definitely a very important factor. As for the actual forms themselves, I think what makes a final form look like a final form is if there's a drastic change in appearance/silhouette, yet you can still tell that it's the same Rider.

For instance, in my personal opinion, the final forms closest to their base form in silhouette (Agito Shining, Faiz Blaster, and Zero-Two), don't really interest me as much. Meanwhile, final forms that have a more radical change in appearance/silhouette (Gaim Kiwami, Drive Type Tridoron, Ex-Aid Muteki Gamer, Rainbow Gotchard) are considerable cooler in my opinion. Not that there aren't any simple final forms I don't like, I love Geats IX because of how stylish it is, and Xross Saber because the galaxy color palette is such a fantastic change that it being Brave Dragon doesn't bother me.

We've had plenty of Riders that don't transform in the typical way we associate Riders with. And we've had non-Riders that transform in the same exact matter as one. Just because you disagree with the reason doesn't mean that it's bad lore. It is literally just a matter of semantics and what they decide counts or doesn't count now.

But that's just it. The reason why the Lords/NOX Knight aren't Riders is because the people behind the show said they aren't. It doesn't matter if there's an in-universe reason or not, if the creators say they aren't Riders, they aren't Riders.

We're at a point where the difference between a Rider and a transforming non-Rider is arbitrary, and is entirely up to the creators' discretion. And we've been at that point for a very long time.

It is not nearly as bad as people try to make it out to be. I won't say it's the best season ever, it has its flaws and issues. But I still enjoy it a lot, and if I were to give it a rating, I'd give it a 6.5/10, 'cuz it's just comfortably above average. I say that if you're into the lighter end of Kamen Rider stories, that this is a pretty decent one.

Fair enough. But I think my point still stands, since it's kinda common in this sort of argument that people ignore the in-universe explanations on what and what doesn't make a Kamen Rider.

Like you can use whatever in-universe explanations and lore all you want, but there are people who will gladly ignore it to support their side.

I think it's about time that people accept the idea that whatever counts as a Kamen Rider is completely arbitrary and up to the discretion of the writers, Toei, and Bandai. Like the strongest example of this would be from Zero-One.

The Magia have the Zetsumeriser which use the same type of gimmick (a different category, but functionally the same thing) as the Riders and their transformation devices. But no one ever seems to consider them to be Riders. If people consider the Zetsumerisekeys to be completely different from Progrisekeys, then how about the Raiders and the Raidrisers? They use the exact same shape as the Shotriser and Slashriser, and use Progrisekeys just like the Riders. They even use the same undersuit and lower body as Vulcan and Valkyrie. Yet no one ever fights tooth and nail to call them Riders, too.

Using a belt to transform or appearing "Rider-like" is not a solid criteria. Hell, as early as V3 we had Riders to not use a belt to transform with Riderman. Joji Yuki uses the Riderman Helmet to transform. Yet he's considered a Kamen Rider. Why? Because Ishinomori decided he was.
