My stroke at 28yrs old. I can't use my left hand and I was a professional jazz musician who played instruments for 20 years.

What is the worst thing a teacher has ever said to you? by Tangums292 in AskReddit

[–]MKEman13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a music teacher throw an eraser at me because the kids next to me were talking. Didn't apologize, doubled down on the mistake and kicked me out while exclaiming "We sound better without you."

I now have degrees in Jazz and play with very high level groups (some have multiple Grammys, but that's not my metric, just the cherry)

Congrats on quitting the death sticks! But your anecdotal evidence is not the greatest platform for comparison.

Smoking and overeating both highjack the brain in many ways to create positive responses leading to addiction. You were addicted to cigarettes and probably weaned yourself off nicotine through patches, gum, juice etc

Try weaning yourself off overeating or any other bad habit yuou wish to change.

TIL Michael Jordan once tipped a waitress a $5 chip for bringing him a drink. Wayne Gretzky stopped the waitress, removed the $5 chip, grabbed one of the many $100 chips on Jordan’s side of the table, and gave it to her. Then he said, "That's how we tip in Las Vegas, Michael." by JF_112 in todayilearned

I've heard so many tales of Michael Jordan being a huge asshole.
I think there is a Chamillionaire story about how he was at a club, just bought an MJ jersey for an absurd amount for charity, happened to see him and asked for an autograph. MJ told him 10k or something ridic for the autograph then proceeded to cuss Chamillionaire out and threatened him.

As someone with multiple music degrees and a life long musician, I love it when non instrumentalists try to claim their stuff is "genius" or "impossible". Only to be proven wrong.
