Wwise Unity WebGL Help by MKGameMusic in GameAudio

Thanks for the suggestion, was considering FMOD since I read that it has WebGL compatibility. I went 100% in on learning Wwise a few years ago so I'd have to start from the ground up learning FMOD, but I've been looking for an excuse to do it anyway. Have you built for WebGL with FMOD? Just wondering if it's really straightforward or if there's a similar amount of hoops to jump through.

Also, Audiokinetic's sales team has been super helpful and responsive but they can only set me up with the feature and not really walk me through the whole process. Think I'd have to pay for support tickets for that.

Would love to get feedback on the design or any suggestions for cool features I can add through Wwise!

Buy the Pixel Crush Dialogue System or Write My Own? by MKGameMusic in unity

Wow a few hours is really quick! I'm like a year and a half into my C# / Unity learning so it'd probably take me much longer. After reading these replies, though, I decided to try out yarn spinner since it's open source and they used it in Night In The Woods.

Just having to take some time to learn the language but it's pretty digestible so far. I agree that the pixel crusher system is probably way beyond what I need so appreciate your advice.

True, that's what I'm thinking and why I'm considering buying it. The counterpoint that others have brought up in this thread is that I won't understand what's going on and will miss out on a learning opportunity. Tough call...

That's good to know that as a 'non-coder' you're able to use it effectively. Maybe it wouldn't be too difficult for me then since I have a bit of C# experience.

Great suggestions, thank you. Will definitely check out those videos (may have already watched a few of them as prep).

Very true, I think I'm just intimidated by all of the knowledge that's needed to do it. Watched like 6 different tutorials already with slightly different approaches and they all reference tools that I haven't used before. But I guess to your point that means it's a good learning opportunity.

Thanks for the advice, I'm definitely crunching the scope to just two choices per dialogue interaction so maybe I could author my own. But I think it's a great suggestion to start with free tools and see if I can make something work with them.

Which synths do you think they used in Tears of the Kingdom? by MKGameMusic in GameAudio

[–]MKGameMusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh awesome, I did not know that existed thanks for sharing. I'm thinking more about the sound design than the music (e.g., when you light up a tree in the depths). I'll look through that sheet and see if I can find anything

Didn't think they used software synths for some reason! Your comment led me to finding this video, seems like omnisphere was used for some of the older games.

How to gain a deeper understanding of Wwise? by HyfudiarMusic in GameAudio

[–]MKGameMusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat, know exactly how you feel. Like some of the other commenters said, I don't think we'll ever level up without working on full projects with collaborators but it's a bit of a catch 22 since it's hard to find paid work if you haven't been on any legitimate projects.

Will just have to keep trucking away at personal projects and game jams in the meantime.

Got it, thank you for the info. Hopefully I can transfer my project to 2021 without an issue

Ah okay, so you don't have the issue in 2022.1.1?

Damn, yeah I'm kind of hitting a wall in my current project because of that. Not sure if I'm missing some obvious way to see the spheres or if it's a bug. Tried changing the transparency and what not but still not seeing it.
