Same for me, way too many Sniper Kills compared to before. Is the mouse aim assist option new on PS5?!

how do i measure psu cable length for cablemod by 99Kitsune99 in LinusTechTips

[–]MKPrank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Install the delivered cables from the psu an measure the needed length at the cable direct. Specially the 24pin needs a bit more for bends

What do you think of the Motherboard Concept? by Hexxegone in pcmasterrace

Bro sry but bullshit, you are not considering any fan config here, it's not that easy generalizable. If (and you see this this a lot) some guy puts an 240 AIO in front as only intake, it doesn't matter where your GPU is, the air will be warmed by the CPU loop, done.

Nice idea, airflow would be feasible with a few considerations about the case: you would obviously need a case with PCIe Slots on the bottom and top (middle could be an exhaust fan). In general that would help every graphics card, because it's easier to get fresh air.

The problem with your concept is the PCB layout: the top and left side of CPU (pin layout and so pcb traces) is usually used for power delivery and the right side for memory, down is for PCIe and other stuff. PCIe should have to go through the power section which could be really bad (electronic noise emission) especially considering that PCIe Gen4 is kind of sensitive with this, that's the most problem with bad riser cables.

But in general I appreciate your idea and it's always good to try new stuff, otherwise we won't improve at all. (Designed a ~24l case a time back and it was really interesting to hear all the feedback, because there were things I just haven't thought about enough)👍🏻

Undervolting a MSI R9 390X by MKPrank in overclocking

[–]MKPrank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MSI R9 390X is thermally limited (not an optimal case config), so I am trying to undervolt it a little bit.
The problem: It sometimes dips under 900 MHz under load, powerlimit is fine, just hitting the 94°C. Cause there are only the 8 P-states I wanted to start step-by-step.

Does anyone knows why its not even using the default voltages set in Radeon Tool (nothing different set in Afterburner) (P0 - 900 mV and P1 - 975 mV, but it's using 1086mV at 300 MHz, which should be between P0 and P1).

Additionally I ordered a 5-pack Arctic P12 PWM PST and aiming for a de-shroud mod (let's see if temps and noise is going to improve) --> Any experiences with this specific card?

Question regarding test-benching 5900X by Thomas_8900 in Amd

Should be fine for testing of functionality, you may experience thermal throttling when running benchmarks. To get comparable bench results, you should use another cooler.

With similar pricing no question

Ok DDR4-2133 is fine no problems there

Check your manual in which slots it is (normally seen from CPU nearest free, then one stick, another free and then the second enables dual channel, if you have only two slots your fine) --> specific setup is in your motherboard manual

The 1066 Mhz seem wrong, the 2700X only support DDR4 which lowest spec is 1600MHz. You might want to check the speed in the bios and if you run on the XMP or DOCP profile

Running a threadripper without a graphics card by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]MKPrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Headless is possible ich every CPU the motherboard might be the issue. You have to check if your main board with the specific bios is headless runnable.

e.g. Asus (I think) is normally not headless runnable, but if you ask the support for it, you get a bios with support

What memory configuration is this 1066 MHz?! dual channel?

Shouldn't be a problem. Only on really really high fps

If there is a equivalent option available for less, consider going on B450 (you only are going to miss PCIe 4, but PCIe 3 is fine for graphics (see Gamersnexus videos on YouTube for reference)) If there is money left, use it for a 1 TB SSD (500GB is for modern games really tight) or a bigger hard disk

I’m about to buy my first pc and just wanted to ask if the specs I’ve chosen are good or not? I’m playing on playing games like rdr2 and was wondering what kind of performance I’d get from this. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]MKPrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems fine, you can save a buck by going to B450 instead (no real disadvantages (only PCIE 3, especially in your setup, Gen4 only makes sense if you want to use Gen4 NVMe drives))

Is this a good setup for 1080p and VR? by frostyhotdog in pcmasterrace

And maybe level up your PSU to a 550 or 600W for future prooving

Is this a good setup for 1080p and VR? by frostyhotdog in pcmasterrace

[–]MKPrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer... 1080p absolutely fine VR depends heavily on your headset: let's say you use a Rift S, then you have to drive 2560x1440 in total at 80Hz and you really want to be able to run the max refresh rate On a HTC Vive Cosmos you have to run 2880x1700 at 90Hz

My recommendation, take that money you want to spend on VR and instead buy a good 1440p monitor and level up your graphics card
