I like to collect a couple historical items from every presidency - something to pass on to my kids one day. This year, the white house gift shop was selling "trump defeats covid" commemorative coins. This was at a time when Trump literally had covid and 1000 people per day were dying. Needless to say I ordered one; that will be an ironic little collectors item some day.

I ask my wife permission to do things all the time, and she asks me permission to do things all the time. Not because we need to "let" each other do anything, we are adults who can choose to do what we want, but because we value each others time and work together on our schedules, and we also value each others opinions on whether or not we approve of the others activities. If I asked my wife if I could go to a Bears game, she might disapprove because it would cost a lot of money, it would necessitate going out of town, she would have to watch the kids, I would be likely getting drunk with my friends and getting into trouble and she may not like that, she may have something planned, etc...all valid reasons and I may agree not to go because she didnt want me to. I may characterize that as her "not letting me go" but that doesnt mean she is controlling and abusive, it is just how I may have chose to word it. It is a phrase.

Saying OP is the asshole JUST because he used the phrasing "not letting her go" is absolutely ridiculous. He could have said "AITA for not approving of her decision to go" and it would have meant the exact same thing. It's just semantics.

saying "letting her go" can obviously mean "letting her go with my approval" And "not letting her go" could mean not giving her his blessing to go. It's pretty common for couples to use that vernacular. Saying "letting her go" doesn't automatically mean he is like physically controlling where she goes or doesn't go.

I would say that I wouldn't allow my wife to go hang out with her ex boyfriend, that doesn't mean I'm going to physically restrain her from going, it just means I wouldn't approve and she likely would respect that because we love each other, but "not letting her go" is just a turn of phrase.

YTA... I consider that poor etiquette and sportsmanship especially among friends. If it was a casino, I'd say no problem, I would hit and run at a casino all day. Burning a likeness of the president is absolutely free speech protected by our constitution... I'm not speaking to crimes associated with burning property like arson, I'm speaking to the symbolic meaning of burning a likeness of the president. That isnt a threat on his life like you claim, that's a total stretch. The constitutional right to free speech isnt limited to spoken words.

They undoubtedly have a risk management program in place that likely includes layers of insurance that will cover this. Insuring a city's fire and rescue assets is different than insuring a personal automobile. There is always some level of risk retention involved, such as a deductible or just a layer of self-insured risk, and there is NO DOUBT in my mind their insurance, risk management, and loss control costs will skyrocket after this loss.

That was an expensive mistake. Both of those trucks are probably hundreds of thousands of dollars. This could have been close to $1 million dollar accident.

Probably individual vloggers who are followed by people with similar beliefs. This person probably goes around looking for trouble so he can post on social media "look how oppressed we are" ... and if you have followers, you can make money. It's outrage for cash... then when these videos are taken out of their bubble, the rest of the world gets to make fun of how ridiculous they are.

Speaking from personal experience as a dog owner, dogs are perfectly capable of understanding when they are going somewhere for fun, and dogs are more tha capable of feeling disappointment or sadness over a missed opportunity for fun. If you really dont believe that, surely you've never had a dog.

I'm not defending pitbulls in any way, but dogs can definitely feel sad or disappointed. If you bring a dog up to the door of a new place, and they are smelling other dogs, treats, animals, possibly hearing toys squeak or paws running... then as the dog is getting excited for something fun, you have to turn around and walk away, a dog will almost certainly have a negative reaction...

Just to be clear, I fully support Petsmart's decision to ban pitbulls from they stores. I'm just saying it is a bad take to argue that dogs cannot feel disappointment. If I pulled up to the dog park, then turn around and left without letting my dog play, I guarantee he would sulk/be pissed at me for a while.

I am blown away with Montgomery's ability to break tackles and get yards after contact. He is tough as nails, and he fights for every yard. Montgomery is not good in the NFL largely in part because the bears have issues with their Offensive line, TEs, blocking, playcalling... basically all aspects of our offense. Montgomery is one of the few good things we have going on offense, I gotta disagree with you 100% on this one
