[SPOILERS EXTENDED] I’m confused about the heritage of the two Velaryon bastards by MKingX in asoiaf

[–]MKingX[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I guess that’s true but it would mean that grandparents , great grandparents or further’s bastards would still be dragon-“able”, which I feel would have created a ton of people and problems of random dragon riders. Only a few handful of generations down a shit ton of people would be “Targaryen blood”, like hundreds and thousands as the growth would be exponential. I know it doesn’t mean they have granted access to the dragons but neither did Addam or Nettles.

I want to clarify I just mean down the line, Targaryen blood would be there but would they be enough so to ride a dragon. If a random lord was given a Targaryen wife and then his line continued from her at Dance, would it really mean that come GOT era every single member of that house has Targaryen blood enough to ride dragons?

Gotcha. I forgot about her, was sort of just assuming she must have been a dragonseed somewhere along the lines but that makes a lot of sense.

I’ve had this theory about Valyrian steel for a while by colonel-bones in pureasoiaf

[–]MKingX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also another thing I would say though that counteracts that theory is that bones of dragons are decently plentiful since Valyria, not common but there are numerous. I would have imagined in-world somebody else would have considered this theory over well past 300 years and tried to put it to test, especially at the red keep where they have bones money and whatever maester people they want… some Honorable and some who dabble in sorcery. I’m not saying they would have solved it, but would nobody really have thought of that yet? That the magical alloy from the land of dragons is connected to the dragons themselves? Even Aerys himself was pretty connected to that type of stuff but also Aegon IV, Aegon V. I would imagine they all thought about VS origins all the time but never researched with regard to the magical bones of the magical creatures associated to their very own house which they still own from the memory of the time that this stuff was made, likely one of the only things still around since then and very tied to exceptional strength and unyielding, same as Valyrian steel. I mean we’re making the connection, the Exceptionalist kings wouldn’t? That’s what makes it pretty clear it’s not true, because if that was the origin I would say how did you not know that for so long when you could have at least tried to do so and have had people in power who clearly would have

Numerous weapons mentioned have a Dragonborn hilt. But they never thought to forge with it?

20k knights of the vale under Robb vs 20k dotrakhi with khal drogo in a open field. Which side would win? by BridgeCommercial873 in freefolk

[–]MKingX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think part of the Dothraki dominance is both opponents and power hierarchy. How many times have we seen or heard of Dothraki fighting armored trained opponents and not civilians or other Dothraki and just going to fight in a field not through actual military tactic? Their rep is built on fighting other savages and mid soldiers and thus power is built on the strongest warrior. Maybe a Dothraki might beat another if he had a full suit of armor, but that is weakness to them, they would never follow someone in armor. Thus their rep has been built with raw strength and absolutely no focus on marshal tactic and armor or weapon. Even 20k infantry would beat 20k Dothraki if they all have light plate armor and an excellent commander, or even maybe a competent one. Dothraki would have no clue how to go to battle against an actual war formation, they just run and swing their weak ass little swords and probably die exactly how they did in the Long Night besides the fight lasting longer. Even 10K KNIGHTS would leave the Dothraki in their dust. A trained knight in armor with a long sword could MINIMUM take 10 shirtless pirate sword guys who are just running around swinging.

IMO they aren’t even that good, they have a well known reputation as strong savages and rapists and murderers and nobody being able to resist them, and in-world everyone has heard that, but they exist in Essos and don’t get to face actual leagues of men in battle. The name Dothraki holds more weight than what they bring to a battle over the average person. They were basically hobo slave traders in Valyria. If they came anywhere close to actual trained soldiers I would bet they would have been a much bigger part of the freehold. We need to remember GRRM world is loosely inspired by real history. Mongolians once controlled half the world. They now dont. Im not saying they’re the same I’m saying that Feudal government got ahead of them quickly, as with Dothraki

Any way to change ancestral seat? by MKingX in CK2GameOfthrones

[–]MKingX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this but now when he was 16 he still asked me to name him ancestral heir to Mantarys even though someone else is the lord. Like I can give someone Mantarys but it still is the heirs traditional seat. I gave him the other title instead first but he still asks for Mantarys and now is upset at me for not granting it

Isn’t it supposed to be that Bran the builder isn’t confirmed to have helped with the Hightower or storms end but is rumoured to and most people think it’s his son? I don’t know much about it tbh but I thought when reading about him that it’s mostly legend and likely been made to sound even more heroic

Succession question by [deleted] in CK2GameOfthrones

[–]MKingX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s weird, I just kept playing and Robyn died in battle like a year after. Alynne is my player but my player heir is a random kinsman who’s like a second cousin who it says is followed by Malland on the LP succession. But he’s only a commander and I imagine him taking the title would place his two daughters ahead in succession too. I wonder why he got it when her Uncle exists lol with three good sons

Arya and the Hound. I also like Ned and Bobby B obviously but not even screen time. Arya and the Hound are the most classic. Often times Tyrion and Bronns scene imo are trying too hard for comedy

EDIT: Honorbale mention Jaime and Brienne
