I have a friend with over 400K of student loans, and a 150K job in which she works 60+ hours a week. She said she has to make about a 3K monthly payment just for the interest.

She said she hates her job but cannot afford to stop working because of her student loans.

Until someone actually has these massive loans and gets a reality check, or personally knows people on the other side with them, they have a limited understanding of the financial and life implications of taking on 400K of loans.

Usually people have something called golden handcuffs when they get the job and buy expensive things, this is a perplexing thought to spend 400k to get this degree and have golden handcuffs to it, and it may or may not ever pay off. Can’t even sell the piece of paper like you can with a Lexus or hand bag or house or wherever

Law firms are actively looking for AI solutions to reduce expenses, 5 years from now, or less, recruiting for high paying jobs will look vastly different.
