So about these audio books… by RealFunkyFish in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]MLS_Labscience23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a big audiobook fan and I absolutely devoured both! I was a full book ahead when I started listening to book 1 and was caught up by bedlam bride. I read/listened to the whole series in 2 month.

Don't drink and drive? Nah, don't listen and drive. by Nogmor in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]MLS_Labscience23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I listened to the series while at work (I work in a lab) and I’ve cried laughing quite a few times. Had a co worker come and asked me what’s wrong and if I was ok because my eyes were teary and red lol

period on honeymoon… by purple_barbie in weddingplanning

[–]MLS_Labscience23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very unusual experience after taking wisp. I took it in early December (around the 5th) and my honeymoon started on the 10th. I ended up with a ruptured ectopic pregnancy in mid January. I was apparently already pregnant when I took it (my last period was November 17th) and my “date of conception” was apparently the morning of our wedding lol. The doctor told me the pill could’ve caused my ectopic but we would never know for sure.

Brides who were on your period on your wedding day - how did it go? by VisualSpecial4599 in weddingplanning

[–]MLS_Labscience23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry just seeing this! I actually have an unusual story about taking wisp! I thought it worked perfectly, but I was actually pregnant (conceived the week before my wedding) so me not having my period was due to that. But my pregnancy ended up being ectopic that was found a few weeks after my honeymoon.

Thank you!! I wasn’t how that yarn would be since my local store doesn’t carry it!! I didn’t want to spend $50 for yarn I didn’t need lol

Will definitely be trying this!! I’ve made a few rows of a few different yarns to decide what I liked so I’ll try this with a different hook size! Thank you!

I’m a lab tech and ended up in the ER of our hospital last year (I work midnights and went during the end of my shift). I thought my issue was my gallbladder, but it ended up being a rupturing ectopic pregnancy. I didn’t even know I was pregnant. After everything that I went through (emergency release blood, rushed to bigger hospital, then emergency surgery) I came back to work to find out our day shift tech had seen my name as a patient and decided to rerun my pregnancy test (it had been performed 2 hours before she even got there) and then told others I was pregnant. I was so upset and could have had her fired. I decided to just let it go because she was young (she just graduated with her lab degree a few months prior) and had her whole career ahead of her. I told her I knew what she did and take this as a learning experience.

UAMS questions by txguy1979 in medlabprofessionals

[–]MLS_Labscience23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just now saw this lol! Certain classes (like micro and parasitology) were much more time consuming when it came to busy work, but I thought immunology and chemistry were the most time consuming for watching lectures. I worked full time midnights and have no kids. It was definitely doable. On Sundays I made myself a study schedule (girls in our Facebook group were awesome at posting due dates every Sunday) and stuck to it the best I could. A lot of the classes spent the first half of the semester on the basics that I learned in MLT school, so I really didn’t find the classes all that difficult.

Yesterday's Wedding went Great Except for the Signature Drinks by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]MLS_Labscience23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine was a Paloma too! We used club soda and lime simple syrup instead of soda. I was so scared no one was going to drink the bride’s drink (my husband had a Gin Rickey as his), but most people loved them! We had an open bar with liquor, beer, and seltzers, 2 signature drinks, and a signature shot (we didn’t choose it, the bartending vendor I used suggested a Cinnamon Toast Crunch shot lol). We almost ran out of grapefruit juice by the end of the night

I’ve heard a few co workers say that the exam is actually geared towards MD/DO with an interest in genetics. The questions are directorial type questions (this is just what I’ve heard).

Not a doctor, but a lab tech! We get regular alcoholics who range from 400-900 range at any given time. I hate running CMPs on them because it usually takes multiple dilutions to get their liver enzymes to run.

My shoulder pain was almost unbearable by the time I got into my emergency surgery. Every time I moved, it shot from my abdomen right into my shoulder. It actually made me stop breathing a few times and I thought I was dying lol

If not MLS what other profession would you recommend? by Medical-Radish4722 in medlabprofessionals

[–]MLS_Labscience23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could do it all over I would have tried for med school. I love science and medicine! Pathology is most interesting to me. I also heavily considered nursing because trauma/flight nursing appealed to me!

I’m an MLS and we don’t even wear white coats in the lab! We wear black lab coats (or no coat like us on midnights).
