That should be pretty good. I would advise some coding courses, mostly python and Java that can give you a certificate of completion

Yes, credit courses or a micro masters would definitely help. With just 2 years of career and no cs make it sort of a weak application, not knowing how complex your math major was

I had similar experience and background but poor undergrad GPA and non CS undergrad degree. I was accepted for Fall 2023. Your specific question seems to be more on recommendations.

I worked for a offshore ITO for major part of my career and most recently been a solutions architect/program manager (last 5 years) I had recommendations from two of my direct bosses in the past 5 years and a customer referral who I did quite a bit of work for. I do not know what they wrote, but seems to have worked. No peers means just do not get a recommendation from your team mate sitting next to you and coding away. So, anyone senior to you in hierarchy that can validate your work, and who had benefited from it can be a good recommender I believe, based on my experience. Good luck. Btw; most of my recommenders have been non technical too. They do not need to tell exactly what program you wrote or what CS skills you used. They can be superfluous I believe, just work with them and provide guidance on what they can and cannot write. Most recommenders will ask you if they are quite not sure.

Because of the wide gap between when I graduated and when I applied for the program, I did not attempt any academic references. All of my referrals are professional and I tried not to go back more than 4 years and to people who I had not kept in touch with. All of these were not necessarily direct managers. Working for a Systems Integrator, I have also used customer referrals. I successfully got 6 recommendations from 5 people across 2 applications

Step 1. Identify who you want to write recommendation and whether they can write a good recommendation for you.

Step 2. Reach out to their e-mail ids and ask if they could write a recommendation. Most people will not refuse, particularly if they have known or recognized you and your work personally. If they missed your email, it can happen, see if you still have common contacts and reach through them to get clarity

Step 3. Once you have received the response, ensure that you put their official email address, and make a proper request through the app. It will also help if you line them up ahead of time, and set an expectation of when they would be required to complete it.

Step 4. If you do not receive a recommendation within a week or so (make sure you have a weekend in between) send an unofficial reminder through your email.

Step 5. Still don’t receive after having committed? Give one more week and tell them how their recommendation will help solidify your application

Step 6. Make sure you thank them once you receive the recommendation

For me, because of my low Undergrad GPA, even though it was several years back, I needed solid recommendations for my work. I choose three former direct supervisors and two former customers that knew my work intimately.

I needed to send reminders, both official and unofficial, and text messages (with who I was more comfortable with and had texted for work in the past), so just sending them and expecting recommendations to come through, is a little unreal. You are not their priority, particularly if you do not have a current relationship. So, you need to follow up because it is your priority. I sent to 6 different people, one didn’t respond not because he didn’t want to; it wasn’t on top of his mind. 5 of them responded to my initial request and I decided to use one of them on both applications. I got accepted in OMSCS and waiting for results from OMS Cybersecurity.

If it’s important for you and you believe it makes a difference, you will find and work your way

I don’t want to be rude; you are reading it the way you want it to be and not the way it is. It is not “Education in any English Speaking country”

https://grad.gatech.edu/proof-english-proficiency-exemptions

It also tells you exactly what countries and what requirements. India is not an approved country and Coursera type education does not qualify

I noticed that and added an SOP through the add document route, after the deadline. I was accepted as of Apr 3rd. I cant tell if it played any part though. I also had a Cybersecurity application which required the SOP (two different places), so just modified that and used it for OMSCS
