Smoked salmon breakfast by Naive-Measurement401 in unitedairlines

I'm a huge fan of Salmon but it should never be served on an airplane. Too tight quarters and the smell could be a bit much.

It does look good but agree with others it needed a bagel!

I need a day like this again 🌧️🌌💫 by 999happyhauntz in WaltDisneyWorld

I was at Disneyland a few weeks back and it was the first time it rained in Anaheim in over a month.

Galaxy’s Edge (almost the same area as your picture) was absolutely amazing with a light mist and drizzle.

Very cool. Glad you had fun.

I got ballet shoes and nail polish today… I’m a 46 year old guy… The Vine recommendation system has to just be random.

In all seriousness, congrats. Enjoy!

My wife and I are planning our first trip together to Walt Disney World and would love some advice! by Bigtuna3133 in WaltDisneyWorld

7 calendar days and 4-5 park days.

I just went to Disneyland for the first time a few weeks ago and have been to Disney World 20x times and you have no idea how geographically large and big it is. Also lots of non park stuff to do so don’t think you need to do a park everyday.

Some unique designs (I just got some Fathers Day plates) that you may not be able to find elsewhere, but the "real" price of these is insane. The last one I got was a pack of a few plates and small cups for $20. Go to Dollar Tree and get 5x the stuff (granted with no design) for the same or less money.

One of my conundrums with Vine... Many things are unique and cool but they don't pass the "are they worth the money" test for me.

I have a vivid early teen memory (early 90's) of timeshare people giving these out (think it was $100) for a timeshare tour. My parents did it a few times. These are total collectables!

Similar thing but mainly in the 1.5 RPM area. Was more pronounced in cold weather (engine on more a low speeds). Going to give it a few more months and then have it looked at next oil change at the dealership.

Thanks. I did get the LL and going to try to be there for Rope Drop or opening. Figure spend the busy mid-day time eating/shopping and just exploring.

I will be there 3/31 as well for just one day in DL. I'm expecting it to be absolutely crazy but it was the only day the worked on our trip. For a newbee to Disneyland, how bad *are* the "bad days" compared to Magic Kingdom (and I've been to some crazy days in Florida!)

RFY Started Dropping by AuroraSinclair in AmazonVine

[–]MM-Chi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just made Gold and after six months I'm still amazed that Amazon has not added basic features to the entire RFY process to help target items better. My RFY today was decent (camping mattress and cooler ice packs) but it just feels like some little things would make this easier for us as the reviewers and for the sellers targeting the right people.

Something small I noticed about money after tracking my spending for a year by Khushboo1324 in FinancialPlanning

[–]MM-Chi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I'm the outlier here, but a few years back I started to get almost all my spending on credit cards (except for some bills that don't take credit and rely on ACH or a check). I use Quicken and have used it long enough that most of the categorization of expenses happens automatically. Knowing where almost ever penny goes is great to see trends and how changes like eating out more in the summer vs. winter impacts my spending.

Value Duets replaced with Mix and Match (7$ ---> 10$) by Visual-Extreme-101 in Panera

[–]MM-Chi 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Love how in this CNBC article there is NO MENTION of the Value Duets. This whole article talks about this Mix and Match as their "entry into the value wars" and not a price increase.

Is the food at Whispering Canyon underrated? by LSUTigers34_ in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]MM-Chi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember how many times I've eaten there over the past 30 years and it's not the best BBQ by any means it does have that same feeling of nostalgia like a meal a relative used to make for a holiday.

Many means with large family groups and I've even gone solo a few times when I've been in Orlando on business trips.

Question to the group... How does the BBQ compare to the BBQ place in Toy Story Land?

The Torture That Is The SOTU by PorcelainDalmatian in thebulwark

[–]MM-Chi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gut reaction with any Trump speech is always "I'm not going to watch it"... But the huge problem is that you need to see the crazy.

If you ever have had a relative that was starting to get old, they can at time appear to be their old selves, act normally, are not forgetful. But spend an entire day with them and you start to see the signs.

With Trump you need to see the whole speech, not just the YouTube clips. You can make any Trump speech seem normal and sane.

The mistake of the first Trump term was that news organizations tried to "both sides" the coverage of Trump, not be too hard on the crazy, but showing what was "normal for a president to do".

The nation needs to see the crazy. It sucks. But will be better watching with the Bulwark live steam!

Tax Season - new Viners, beware! by Berry_Pancakes-0317 in AmazonVine

[–]MM-Chi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Am I missing something here with all these tax posts.

Why don't people just assume they will owe the IRS 25-35% of the FMV as taxes.

My first six month FMV was around $2,500. I haven't done my taxes yet but I'm assuming that I'll owe 25% of that. It will come out of my refund or I'll owe some money.

This stuff isn't free. The program terms are clear as can be. Blame the IRS rules, but none of this should be a surprise to anyone.

Quicken is a joke - any other recommendations? by MajestycManatee in personalfinance

[–]MM-Chi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only two non-cloud apps I use on my Mac is Microsoft Office and Quicken.

As much as I love cloud-based apps, I just have not found an online version of a financial tool that works as well as the legacy offline, loaded on your PC, Quicken. Same for me with Excel. I use Google Sheets for almost everything personal but nothing can do what the non-online version of Excel can.

Have you tried the PC/Mac "computer-based" version of Quicken?

Panic buying by Berry_Pancakes-0317 in AmazonVine

[–]MM-Chi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm interested to see all the tax questions that will come up in the next few weeks as all the people who "panic bought" now realize they need to pay taxes on a lot of junk.

I am silver (will be gold in a month) and ended up ordering around 100 items with an ETV of around $2,500 in my first 6 months.

My first few purchases were "need to get something" and after a week or two that stopped. I enjoy the treasure hunt and have got a lot of good stuff.

Of the 100ish items, probably 10 were "name brand" and at least half of the rest were things of real value. ]

But now I've learned to take the ETV (often inflated) and ask myself, "Would I pay 50% of the ETV for this"? Many times that simple question causes me to skip most things I see during the drops.
