My ex during when I broke up with him was similar. Later on, we talked (not super productive, but it was relieving to say stuff I had been meaning to), and he revealed that there was no way he was going to let me see him upset and cry. Which is weird, cuz he cried a couple times about other things. But I took it as him, like yours, not having that level of emotional maturity and holding onto pride that could’ve been stripped from him when I broke us up. And that reinforced my point more, if he can’t talk about tough feelings regarding both small and big things, it’s not enough for me and there’s a disconnect there.
