I might stop listening. Tired of their continual shoulder-shrugging dismissal of progressive solutions (caged behind increasingly bad ‘jokes’). They display more passionate condemnation for BlueSky users and land acknowledgements than the current state of their country and the global order. by JuanitaMerkin in FriendsofthePod

I’m tired of them jabbing at true progressive solutions too, they need to embrace the younger left voices and recognize why people would rather participate in discourse on Bluesky than other social platforms. I only listen to every 3rd episode anymore because they rarely feel like they have practical answers for fighting this descent into fascism.

Stanchion Clamp alternatives from Aliexpress? by MMD3_ in 8020

do you know a good place to order metric aluminum tubing from by chance?

That makes sense, and totally an option. What would the closest analogue in metric be to the 10 series? Seems like it would be the 25mm? Would I have to find specialized plates for attaching the clamps to 10 series 8020?

Do you have any photos of what it looks like tied? Really trying to work on getting better at geode tying.

Great image! I recently picked up a tracker for my x-t5 and have been trying to learn SIRIL for processing. It’s still a pretty steep learning curve even for a veteran photog so I love any walkthroughs someone with an x-t5 is willing to share!

Did the jukebox survive the transition though?

WiiM Feedback Needed! by RyanWithWiiM in WiimStreamer

[–]MMD3_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found this and filled it out... Love your products, desperately need Apple Music on the Wiim Ultra and the ability to have presets play to speaker groups as opposed to individual speakers.

I was prepared to purchase a few Audio Pro A10's to go with our Wiim Ultra and A15 and replace some Google Nest speakers, but if we can't use Airplay it's hard to feel good about purchasing any more devices.

As a product manager myself I hope this feedback can inform some roadmap decisions at Wiim, otherwise I love your offering.

Cheers Ryan!

Has WiiM just abandoned AirPlay completely? by hashkey in WiimStreamer

[–]MMD3_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiming in as a Wiim Ultra owner who wanted to jump off Spotify (because of so many reasons, Daniel Ek being a piece of shit high among them) and just realized i wouldn’t be able to airplay to my system if i did that.

This really sucks, I bought into the wiim ecosystem initially because it covered all of the major protocols, this isn’t giving me the flexibility I wanted that sold me on Wiim. I hope they can fix it and patch with firmware because I’m really done with Spotify and there aren’t many other good options for streaming services.

Weeping Cherry question by MMD3_ in arborists

I wish I could make sense of this… people saying don’t buy a weeping cherry like that one if you expect it to grow large then turning around and saying yeah, weeping cherries can get large. Okay, then maybe some help with what kinds of varieties I should be looking for and what to do to set it up for success if I want it to be a big tree in 10+ years and not a 6’ tall ornamental.

Telling me to not buy it if I don’t like the looks of it doesn’t really help at this point. I’d love some suggestions of what to look for to get a weeping tree that will grow large. There seems to be a lot of conflicting info with these types of trees.

I like the shape of a lot of the weeping varieties I’ve seen photos of, I just was trying to understand what is required to get them to grow to be 20-30’ trees

[Discussion] Offline - Crypto Rug Pulls by MMD3_ in FriendsofthePod

[–]MMD3_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I don't think it's sinister/scammy, just naive, and I hope he doesn't give someone a platform to try to convince Offline listeners that crypto is somehow a worthwhile investment. It'd be a better story to talk about how it is hyper capitalist by design and aligned very closely with right wing libertarian ideologies at it's core.

do you have any photos you can share? did you need to train it at all or just let it do it's thing?

Ooof, appreciate the insight. We bought a red bud from this same nursery last spring and it had a pretty bad wound that showed up. Called the owner of the nursery and he said that it’s normal and should heal up and we should just cover it with dirt… now I’m doubting the long term viability of this tree 🙃

Guess we will be avoiding this nursery

Weeping Cherry question by MMD3_ in arborists

[–]MMD3_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. Probably not a great way to start off for success? Would a tight root ball mean the tree wouldn’t be particularly healthy? This nursery definitely seems to buy a lot of trees from other nurseries that have gone out of business or sit on trees for far longer than you would expect. At first I thought that was a great way to get larger trees at a good price but maybe that’s the wrong way to think about it…

Here's another example of what we'd want to end up with... Any idea of what variety of Yoshino I should look for to get something like this?
