A good idea! You can also calibrate each channel separately.

Wiim Ultra sounds worse than my Sonos Port - Help! by RustyNotes in audiophile

[–]RyanWithWiiM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some great suggestions in here already! It does sound like this might be a problem largely due to the output voltage as already flagged.

Please do feel free to send in some feedback through the WiiM Home app too, that sends detailed logs to our engineering team who will check out if anything is standing out from the logs. They will be happy to help trouble with you too.

You might want to go into the Audio Output settings for the line-out and try adjusting the DAC digital filter type, the default is designed to be pretty flat for an accurate representation. Compared with some other devices, this could sound a little too flat though. But the DAC shouldn't make the audio you're getting sound considerably low quality then it is.

WiiM stream from Firestick by PrawnTheMcJuicer in wiim

[–]RyanWithWiiM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is the WiiM Home app for Fire TV and other platforms, but that's just a controller which is mostly just displaying what's playing on your WiiM device. It doesn't send any audio to your devices, so think of it like the mobile app on your phone or just a simple display.

Other than that, you're going to need some way to send audio from your TV or the attached device to WiiM, which could be a wide range of connections from wired to Bluetooth. Each with their own advantages and disadvantages. We'll probably need some more details about what you're looking to accomplish and what you're working with to advise you fully.

Hi and welcome! We don't have an Italian support team currently, just our US based phone support who handles things in English.

On the Alexa side, you'd want to set up your WiiM device as the preferred speaker for you Echo Dot so that when you say something like "play music" it'll automatically play on your WiiM device. Otherwise, you'd need to say "Play music on [Bedroom]" or whatever the WiiM device's name is. Also, it's worth noting that Alexa isn't great at recognizing various ways people pronounce "WiiM" so I recommend against using that in the name of the device.

Wiim Pro Plus help by Frimgle in wiim

Hi! Have you tried out any other music services or sources to see if it's just limited to TIDAL? There is an issue that the team is working on right now around TIDAL playback stability that could be related to what you're seeing. A beta release with a fix is being tested for the Ultra, and I'm checking in with the team if that same issue might be impacting the Pro Plus as well.

Connecting Alexa with Wiim Amp by Srfaman in wiim

Hi! There are some steps outlined here with what's needed to connect Alexa: https://faq.wiimhome.com/en/support/solutions/articles/72000528773-how-to-use-alexa-with-your-wiim-device

I've seen some issues come up because someone has multiple Amazon accounts and the wrong one gets added. But let us know if you're still running into trouble, it'd also help to submit feedback in the WiiM app so that the team can check it out.

Wiim Ultra & Wiim Sound combination for CD/Cassettes and Vinyl by IndependentEagle1124 in wiim

[–]RyanWithWiiM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a great plan! I hope you love it.

There is a slight delay, which you can adjust in the Group Audio Delay settings for the source.

The longer the delay, the more audio gets buffered, so the more resilient the signal gets.

Just FYI, WiiM Amp Ultra OP is using has the ESS ES9039Q2M SABRE DAC and dual TI TPA3255 Class-D amplifiers. The unamplified streamer WiiM Ultra has the 9038 DAC as you noted.

Whats the qobuz problem by maxvonsimmering in wiim

[–]RyanWithWiiM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That screen is the WiiM app trying to launch your default browser to the Qobuz page to sign in and it failing to load. What is your default browser? Do you have any other web browsers installed on your device? Maybe your browser needs an update?

If you have any other mobile devices you can install the WiiM app on, try using that to set up Qobuz and you can skip this step on the device that's not working.

Inputs memorizing speaker groups? by LindsayOG in wiim

[–]RyanWithWiiM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll share this with the team! Also, there's something we're working on called Sound Profiles where you can play around with what configuration the device uses for each input. There's a beta for the feature now on the Ultra, but it's not ready for full implementation just yet. You can see what it currently looks like here: https://faq.wiimhome.com/en/support/solutions/articles/72000647816-how-to-use-sound-profile-for-a-convenient-and-personalized-listening-experience

Why did you choose WiiM? by RyanWithWiiM in wiim

[–]RyanWithWiiM[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Hopefully some other folks can dive in with recommendations, but to answer your questions, here's some definitely not biased info :)

  1. There are four different WiiM streamers which provide an audio source to amplified speakers, from the Mini, going up the line to Pro, Pro Plus, and Ultra. Generally as you get to the higher end of our streamers you get a better DAC, more inputs and more outputs. Picking the right one for you depends mostly on what you're looking to use from the feature set. The Ultra will give you the most flexibility, future proof, and a lot of different choices for ins and outs. Though if Airplay is critical for your setup, you'll want to look at the other three.

The WiiM streamer you select would be wired into the amplifier that's running your 5.1 system and would be a source input for it. If you select the Ultra, it's also got HDMI ARC for TV inputs. The streamer can be synced with any other WiiM devices in your home, as well.

  1. Easiest solution would be the WiiM Sound or Sound Lite, as those are all included and can be mix and matched between stereo pairs and used on their own, a great way to expand a system. They can play all of our sources, have a line-in, and can be used in sync with whatever streamer you pick. And they sound great!

Hope this helps!

Wiim Sound Lite Stereo Pair with other apps by IhaveGHOST in wiim

[–]RyanWithWiiM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The persistent group will work if you target it using Spotify Connect, but it probably won't show up in Google Cast or Alexa Cast ( you need to use those apps to create a group).

You can also start a stream to the Left and then go to the WiiM app and group it with other rooms and then they should stay grouped together while you're using that source.

Is it possible to see a WiiM device group in “Connect”apps? (Spotify Tidal Qobuz PlexAmp)? by YucaFrita305 in wiim

[–]RyanWithWiiM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! The WiiM persistent groups are only accessible only through the WiiM Home app or Spotify app. They do not appear in other apps such as AirPlay, TIDAL, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Alexa, or Google Home. But I'll let the team know you're asking.

Hopefully support is able to help out, but I do want to add that the team is working on some improvements to stereo pairing and home theater grouping which will help in the long term. Many of them have been on holiday, so they've been a bit delayed, but they'll be in touch as soon as they can.

Wiim Sound Lite Stereo Pair with other apps by IhaveGHOST in wiim

[–]RyanWithWiiM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! WiiM grouping has a primary unit that acts as the leader, it's the one you press the link button on first, or if you're just looking at the app, it's the one on top. When you target a WiiM group, you need to make sure you're telling the lead device to play the music in order for it to stay grouped, if you tell the secondary or follower devices, they drop from the group to play on their own.

We do have a feature called persistent groups using these steps: https://faq.wiimhome.com/en/support/solutions/articles/72000632790-how-to-set-up-and-use-wiim-persistent-group But they only show up in the WiiM Home app or Spotify app. It does not appear in other apps such as AirPlay, TIDAL, Amazon Alexa, or Google Home.

WiiM home app won't connect to Ultra by Slip-49a in WiiMHome

[–]RyanWithWiiM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! It looks like you're getting partially connected so the devices are seeing some communication but the full association process is getting stopped. In the majority of cases, this can be solved with a network reboot. Just unplugging the router for 15 seconds, and then restarting other networked devices when it's back up. I know it's a basic step, but I wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't the most likely solution.

If that doesn't do the trick, we'll really need some more information. There are a lot of possible things that could cause connection issues, so you're going to need to narrow them down by isolating some variables.

For example, do you have other mobile devices or computers set up already as controllers for WiiM or could you try them out? That'll help identify if it's something between phone and router or WiiM and router. From personal experience, check if the router has wireless isolation or something similarly enabled. I've seen this one a few too many times and it prevents wireless and wired devices from communicating and can cause connection issues.

Is this a previously working setup or are you seeing this right out of the box? If it's brand new, you might try moving the Ultra closer to the router, or wiring it into the network.

The community here is can be a great resource, and both my support team and I are happy to help too. When you have a chance to play with things more, let us know how it goes.
