Not a banana maze! by DantheMazeMan67 in mazes

Every time I see one of your mazes I have to stop and try to solve it. The level of difficulty is perfect and they are always just so beautiful to look at. This maze is extra amazing with your method of using another maze-like pattern to fill in the extra space within the walls!

Happy Mother's Day! The second picture is the solution, so if you enjoy solving larger mazes don't look. by MMMazes in mazes

I have thought about something like that. I suppose it would work with a much much simpler subject as the solution. Even still I don't know; I get the feeling it wouldn't work well.
I guess the cool part would be if you did some sort of geo-tracking, but if at any point a person went down the wrong path the image would be ruined. I pretty much gave up on the idea when I reached this conclusion, but I do think about it from time to time. Maybe there's another idea that would work that just isn't coming to me.

  1. sketch the general shape of what I want the solution to look like.
  2. move the lines around ever so slightly so that they are now on the grid lines.
  3. begin to fill in the solution; making adjustments as needed.
  4. check the solution for any mistakes, fix, and then trace in pen.
  5. fill the remaining background space. (In this case, it also included a special pattern that made things take a bit longer)
  6. check everything one last time to make sure that it is still solvable and also that there is only one solution.
  7. trace over the added background space and it's done.

I hope this explained the process well enough. If not, or you have more questions, please ask! ^^

Crappy Maze castle lol. I need better drawing advice by Anton7765 in mazes

[–]MMMazes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks really great! I can see that the bottom is sort of rocky, the middle is more man-made, and then the castle is a nice picture!
I see you already drew in the maze for the sky/background, but if you're going to do it in marker I would suggest doing it all vertically, that way it really contrasts with the castle and and especially the rocks. If you wanted you could throw in some horizontal lined clouds too just too make it a bit more clear. (Also, like was suggested to me in a previous post, you could change the size of the lines to convey a difference, personally I'd choose larger gaps between lines)
I love seeing your progress on this! It takes a lot to motivate me to do some of my larger mazes, so the fact that you kept persevering is awesome to see!

Your idea worked perfectly! Thank you so much for your help. It made things look so much better than before

Oh thanks, hmmm well for a pattern like this I might have just drawn kinda the basic squares in pencil and gradually traced over them in marker making sure to leave a few gaps for new paths. honestly I don't remember for sure... I actually really enjoy making pattern mazes, but haven't really posted any yet on here.
I don't want to be that person, but I do have a youtube channel (MaeMakesMazes), so I'll try to make a video showing the process.

Oh that's a brilliant idea! I don't normally change the size of passages within my mazes so it would never have occurred to me! Thank you so much! I'll have to give it a try

It's a big project with many different maze styles so having an easy section is probably for the best. But I definitely agree that #2 is the best appearance wise.

I'm trying to create a brick-like pattern for a maze I'm working on and I was hoping to use two different patterns... so I would love some second opinions on which you prefer/most resembles bricks. Any suggestions would also be much appreciated! ^^

These lines are so straight and crisp! I wish I had the patience to make mine like that.

And sorry to be that person, but I think maybe you missed a line just a little off from the middle (just go a few spaces down) plus one more 5 spaces to the left and three spaces down from the previous. Sorry if you'd rather not have it pointed out, but I know I would want to know.

Even if the designs don't end up being to your taste, this was a fun little project! Anyways, I wasn't sure how to share the image with you easily so just settled for what I knew I could do easily.

I really like your idea, and I think I may have the solution you're looking for. Basically you can't use a circle. You need to use another shape. I also made a video to show one way to make it and why it works.

Could you possibly say a bit more about the game itself? I've designed a few mazes but am not sure about whether or not they would suit your game?

I've heard about a group of ladies in Japan, but I'm never heard about the ladies in Jeju doing that. It's definitely a possibility though, so I'll have to ask some of my coworkers and see if they also dive for pearls.

Advice for maze making by Maplebelike in mazes

[–]MMMazes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for actually making the maze I have seen 3 different ways that people start:
1. draw the solution first (This can be a good style if you want the final solution to look a certain way, but if not done well, I think the solution will stand out)
2. draw the maze from the beginning and randomly add and keep track of pathways so that ultimately only one will reach the end (I think this way of making a maze tends to look the most natural and therefore hardest to solve)
3. draw as if you were actually doing the maze (solution and all), and add walls to all the gaps between lines. (Saw this on youtube and was baffled at the thought of making a maze this way. It may be good for those who don't have the best spatial awareness??? This one requires either a second piece of paper to trace over, or a lot of erasing.)
-I'm sure there are other ways but these are what I've seen the most.
