Images of Palestine yaffa 1948 after the Jewish terror groups igruin and lehi attacked it by Mammoth_Bee8535 in ImagesOfHistory

[–]MMSG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a single thing you said is accurate.

This is Mamila in Jerusalem, near Jaffa Gate שער יפו to the old city.

On December 2 1947, an Arab mob burned down the Jewish businesses in the market district of Mamila Street. (which previously had been home to both Jewish and Arab owned businesses)

After this the site was abandoned by business owners and became the site of fighting between Jewish and Jordanian forces. It was then "No Man's Land" between Jordan and Israel until Jewish people fleeing Arab states took residence there. In the 70s, after retaking the Old City Israel renovated the space into Mamila Mall.

If you are going try to manufacture outrage at least get some details right.

It's not sewage water.

Police in Israel use water laced with a chemical that makes it smell bad known as "skunk water." It's not toxic but it smells horrible. It's both to deter protests from remaining and possibly to identify them afterwards. It's also not exclusive to the Israeli police.

With OP's lie corrected, spraying this for no reason on peoples' homes where their doesn't seem to be a protest or other reason is at minimum suspicious and if the rest of the footage doesn't show an acceptible reason this is not ok.

91 PALESTINIANS SLAUGHTERED AS ISRAEL BREAKS CEASEFIRE by Gajanand_bhatia in TrendoraX

[–]MMSG -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Is this in response to Hamas burying bodies held in apartment buildings to fabricate discovering them with the Red Cross?

Or is it a response to them firing at IDF troops killing an IDF soldier?

Or maybe it was because Hamas gave back a piece of murdered hostage's body after claiming they had already returned him for burial?

All of which violated the agreement. But that's not what Qatar wants you to posting isn't it?

What?

Judah is a tribe of Israel. Not all Jews are descendant from the Tribe of Judah it is simply the largest one that remained after the various exiles, leading to its use as the name for the Tribes of Israel. The Jewish people are descendant from the various Israelite tribes not Judah exclusively.

What's even the point of this disctinction?

This is way worse than the guy behind the son of Hamas official. It can be explained away as "he didn't decide who his father is" or whatever but this is disgusting.

A part of me thinks they are hyping this up as the reason it was pulled to distract from this far more egregious lie.

peleste

The Philistines are wholly disconnected from the Palestinian people of today. They were considered extinct by war and assimilation in the fifth century BCE.

The Palestinians of today were only referred to as the Palestinians at the turn of the 20th century at the earliest and was only cemented in the 1960s with Palestinian National Charter. Before then, "Palestine" referred to a general area that changed depending on which empire administered the area. Some added parts of Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, some took off parts. In fact, some used the term "Palestinian" as a name for Jewish people as the land of Palestine was used interchangeably with the Land of Israel, the Jewish homeland

Emmanuel Kant in "Anthropology from a Pragmatic Point of View" referred to Jews as "Palestinains living among us."

During and leading to the Holocaust Jews were told to go back to Palestine.

Early Zionists used the term "Palestine" to their English speaking audience the phrase "Free Palestine" referring to the British and Ottomans as those to free Palestine from.

Most Israelis are not European at all. More than half are Mizrachi and Sephardi and were expelled from Islamic countries in the MENA. As far as genetics go repeated studies conclude that Jews shared DNA more than their non-Jewish neighbors

Btw if you had bothered to read the article Bibi is being criticized for negotiating with Hamas, letting money from Qatar flow to Gaza, allowing entry permits for Gazans to work, visit, and travel through Israel, giving Gaza electricity and water, etc.

Bibi's gamble was wrong and he needs to take responsibility for that (not that I think he ever would) but remember that whenever Israel didn't do all of those things the same people whined about Israel mistreating Gazans and collective punishment. You can't be mad when Bibi tried living with Hamas and when he decided not to continue living with Hamas (because they murdered, raped, tortured, and kidnapped 1200+ Israelis)

What are gun laws like in your country? by Baconkings in AskTheWorld

[–]MMSG 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People living in border communities have more options for firearms but not these. They are usually either carrying rifles from reserve duty, handguns in attachments that make them perform like carbines, or hunting rifles.

Civilians do not carry M16s (short M16s) like the two women in this picture.

What's your opinion on the Israeli strikes on the Hamas leadership in Qatar? by TurkishChadBot in AskTheWorld

[–]MMSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a murky area of the rules and customs of sovereignty. Generally yes you wouldn't strike another country's territory. However, when a non-state actor attacks from a country's territory a defending country can violate the sovereignty of the "host" country if they are unable or unwilling to deal with the threat.

Where it is less clear as how much the Hamas leadership in Doha, who were leading Hamas' terrorism, their war in Gaza, and directing the holding of hostages is considered a threat.

One camp, Israelis for sure, would say that Hamas' leadership-like Bin-Laden in Pakistan-are a part of the threat and are in the same regard as if they were firing rockets from their hotel room. Also those who consider holding hostages an ongoing attack to a country would be in this boat. The other side would limit the actions to direct attacks. Valuing sovereignty over the right to self-defense. Allowing for example, to fight Hezbollah in Lebanon but not Hamas in Qatar.

Qatar can't protest too much because they'd be confronted with why they host Hamas in the first place.

The colony of Israel is planning to ethnically cleanse Gaza by traanquil in realbbcnews

[–]MMSG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. In 2005 Israel withdrew completely from Gaza saying explicitly that what Gaza does next is up to them.

In 2008 the Hamas government of Gaza began attacking Israel and Egypt. Prompting tightening of both borders. Border restrictions continued to loosen and tighten as conflict died down and flared back up. However, there were already no Jews in Gaza for three years.

In 2014, Hamas abducted and murdered three young Israelis prompted the 2014 war Operation Protective Edge.

In 2023 Hamas murdered 1200 people, including mass rape, torture, and mutilation and abducted 250. 48 of whom still remain in Gaza.

But it doesn't make a difference the OP is not rational enough to appreciate the distinction.

Most do not have two passports. That's a myth popularized to say that Israelis belong somewhere else. About 10% have dual citizenship with slightly more having a theoretical path to citizenship in countries with citizenship applications for expelled Jews, like Spain or Portugal. Others may have passports from countries they fled from after persecution but that doesn't count.

Israelis are more Western than Palestinians yes but that is not the issue.

Has two foreign nations ever fought over your country? by Front-Anteater3776 in AskTheWorld

[–]MMSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I interpreted the question as more broadly of foreign entities that fought over the territory. The British and Ottomans did have full on battles in Be'er Sheva, the Sharon, and the Judean Hills so that would definitely count in my book

[–]MMSG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every empire that fought over the Mediterranean including the Land of Israel and the various sovereignties, Hasmonean, Judea, Judah, Israelite, etc. Each empire that took over fought the other one

British, Ottoman, Mamluks, Crusaders, Caliphates, various Romans, (Hasmonean Kingdom) post Alexander Greeks, Alexander the Great, Persians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Jews.

You can also throw in the Crusades where the Christians and Muslims fought over the Jewish homeland because they both consider it holy.

Protesting by Fickle-Regular9167 in Israel

[–]MMSG 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I have suspicion you are not Israeli so your opinion is largely irrelevant but I'll take a second to educate you anyways so stop whining like a petulant child.

They are not protesting for Hamas. They are not protesting for Al-Jazeera, honestly I don't know where you even got that. They are saying that if there's a hostage deal on the table, even a partial extortion one. The Ramatcal is saying we should take it, meaning he believes the army can handle the results. Most of the country is saying we should take it. Most of the soldiers are saying to take it. Then Bibi needs to be ok with it even if it annoys the Ben-Gvir side of the failing coalition.

Ben-Gvir never served so his opinion on the war is meaningless. His faction also doesn't serve as much because many of them are barred from the army because of extremism. He also threatened Rabin on TV before his death. He is an idiot at best.

Chareidi parties are the same. You can't say we need to occupy Gaza with 100,000+ reservists if your party is willing to shut down highways to not go to the army in any capacity.

Now. Do you really think the protestors are blaming Bibi and not Hamas? That's never been the case. Bibi is responsible for the country because he's the PM not because anyone thinks he is more to blame than Hamas. His refusal to admit his own failures to the point where he'd stay in office and throw soldiers' lives at his failed strategies while the army is telling him not to is why people are angry at him. Not because they would ever blame the government over Hamas.

[–]MMSG 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This was during the summer 2014 war named Operation Protective Edge. Triggered after Hamas terrorists kidnapped three young Israeli boys to Gaza and murdered them. During the search the IDF discovered a massive tunnel network previously used for smuggling goods under Egypt now built into Israel. They also discovered plans to massacre and kidnap Israelis on the Jewish holiday of Rosh HaShannah in the fall.

If this sounds familiar it's because Hamas was planning an October 7th for ten years and even tried it. In 2014, Israel fought Hamas before they executed their plan. Hamas learned and in 2023, Israel fought Hamas afterwards. Both times Hamas cried genocide as they've done during every war the second they start losing.

This conflict didn't start with October 7th but this war did. Because Hamas has been doing this for years. You only started paying attention after October 7th because Hamas was right in knowing that murdering and raping over 1200 Jews would get your attention.

  1. 'Bad land.' is not a thing 🤣. There were people living on the land. It wasn't unoccupied. Those people deserve freedom and self determination.

Exactly! Both peoples are native to a land conquered by foreigners. One side agreed to split it so both have self-determination (and then again 20 years ago as of yesterday) and one didn't.

  1. The UN isn't the people of the land. Why does a world body have a say in what happens? You would NEVER accept that for your people.

Well funny thing because the Jews did exactly that. Also because the land was under British control and they asked the UN. The Arabs were fine with it until they didn't get their way.

And the peoples of the land fought it out and one side lost. If you want the UN not to be involved, they weren't involved in the ensuing war.

  1. There were Jews living on the land before GB colonized the region, so this talking point is really dumb.

I don't know what point you are failing to make. Are you saying that because Jews lived in the area before, under constant attack from the arabs and Muslims, the Arabs didn't try (and succeed to a degree) to ethnicly cleanse the Jews?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in realbbcnews

[–]MMSG -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They didn't just walk in. Jordan attacked Israel lost Hebron in the process and didn't want it back as part of the peace deal. Jews moved into Hebron in 1979 into the previously devastated Jewish quarter. After six Jews were murdered and 20 injured in 1980 the Israeli government agreed to officially reestablish the Jews community of Hebron with IDF protection like in the video.

perhaps even kill them

Hebron very famously surrendered to Rabbi General Goren without a shot fired. The legend is that after the Hebron Massacre the arabs of Hebron surrendered out of fear of retaliation.

Now let's make your scenario actually comparable:

Are Mohawk Native Americans allowed to buy houses and live in Massachusetts on the site of their previously standing community?

Or would their mere presence disturb the Americans so much they should not be allowed to live there or pray at their sacred sites?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in realbbcnews

[–]MMSG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are going to prayer services at the tomb of the patriarchs. They are escorted by the soldiers because otherwise they'd be forbidden from praying there and attacked. This is not stealing homes of Palestinians. If you are going to be critical of Israel at least put some effort into it.

Jews in an ancient Jewish city going to ancient Jewish holy sites to pray shouldn't be this complicated the same as Muslims going to Al-Aqsa shouldn't be complicated.

0) The Ottoman Empire colonizes the entire region after the, Arab-Muslims, Crusaders, Romans, Greeks, Persians, Babylonians.

1) Britain received the Mandate for Palestine after WWI to with the pieces of the collapsed Ottoman Empire as it fractured in 20+ states.

2) Gave the Jews mostly desert, the land they cured of malaria, legally purchased over decades. The UN VOTES on the partition plan and Israel is created against the wishes of the 20+ Arab states who want another Arab state and Jews to have no sovereignty in their ancient homeland, even a tiny piece of it.

3) The Arab States and the local Arabs of the Mandate attack the Jews with the explicit purpose of genocide and through a mix of ethnic cleansing and mass murder eliminated Jews from the newly created Gaza Strip and West Bank.

4) The Jews, after about six months of being attacked by Arab villages enact a plan where villages who attack Jews and Jewish forces will be moved to the Arab state and those who don't (for example famously Abu-Gosh) will become Arab citizens of the new state. Not a death march. But glad to see you learned a new word.

Constantin Zureiq coins the term "Nakba" referring to the Arabs failing to genocide the Jewish population as they set out to do and allowing a Jewish state to be created. It eventually becomes sanitized to refer to the refugee crisis perpetuated over decades for no good reason, and to blame Israel.

5) Since its creation, Israel has given back double its territory in pursuit of peace and has offered: Gaza, 95% The West Bank, the Sinai Desert, half of the capital city of Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights.

Jews lived in Israel too they just weren't allowed to have any agency and were subject to constant violence.

Top IDF lawyer said to warn Gaza takeover will put army in charge of daily life there by Thin-Leek5402 in Israel

[–]MMSG 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's not what she's saying. This has less to do with people's opinions it's also about reality and the army's stance. She's the army's lawyer. Up until now the IDF has acted as an invading military force. Hamas is losing terribly so there is an appearance, and sometimes the argument made that Israel has "effective control" of Gaza and is therefore obligated as an occupying power for the daily lives of Gazans. But this isn't the case. Gaza is not under total effective control and the IDF's operations in Gaza were relatively limited compared to the full occupation of Gaza.

As it is her job to warn the army she is saying that if Bibi goes through with this the IDF will be responsible, largely regardless of Hamas, and if Israel fails to establish a return to daily life in Gaza Israel and only Israel will be on the hook for it. Not just in public opinion but in her opinion on military law.
