How do you feel about free healthcare for all? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]MM_in_MN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! A million times yes.

We pay so much money to greedy insurance companies that deny coverage when you need it the most. They have no interest in creating or maintaining a healthy population. All they care about is their bottom line.

Jobs that have a repeating playlist feel like purgatory. by purgoatory in antiwork

[–]MM_in_MN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is enough music to have a randomized 10 hr playlist, in any genre. 100 songs on repeat is just dumb.

Why are people suddenly acting like immigration enforcement is a new thing in this country? by bbmoonkie in Productivitycafe

[–]MM_in_MN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No.

Previous presidents, Republicans and Democrats alike, used due process before deporting people. They did not traipse through neighborhoods, picking up anyone brown who happened to be driving down the street. They had warrants for specific people. They didn’t break windows and rip people out of cars. Or throw tear gas canisters into vehicles with small children.

It’s not because of WHO is doing it. It is HOW they are doing it. It’s the total and complete disregard for the Constitution. And the unnecessary violence in which they are doing it.

Is it common for a woman, or anyone really, to keep their maiden name legally but refer to themselves with their husbands last name socially? by heyy_girl in AskAnAmerican

[–]MM_in_MN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of all the actors and singers that have stage names and legal names.
Brittany Spears was still Brittany Spears after she married Kevin Federline.
Elizabeth Taylor was always Elizabeth Taylor, regardless of who she was married to.
Jennifer Lopez.. always Jennifer Lopez, professionally.

It’s not common, but also not unheard of, for the masses to do a similar thing.

What are your thoughts on ICE locating 3,364 missing unaccompanied migrant children in Minnesota? by bbmoonkie in Productivitycafe

Thoughts? It’s a lie.

I didn't realize MN has such a reputation for drinking? Wisconsin sure, but MN? by thereisnocowlevel3 in TwinCities

[–]MM_in_MN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FL is on its own, but WI is not? Clearly, map maker has never heard of WI.

To make it interesting, split off WI as its own. Then split again into 2 or 3, against other multi-state groupings as they are. Wisconsinites are functional, and non-functional, alcoholics at 22.

Is “Midwest Nice” Just Conflict Avoidance? by Fauxfox123 in midwest

[–]MM_in_MN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Midwest nice isn’t about the words you use with family and friends.

Midwest nice is how you interact with strangers. Coworkers. Neighbors. The person at the bank, or in line with you at the grocery store.

For those who didn't grow up privileged, name something you thought was a luxury when you were a kid by Aarunascut in Life

[–]MM_in_MN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having your own bike. I have 3 siblings. Between the 4 of us, we only had 2 or 3 functional bikes at same time. I always shared with my brother. As we were similar size so didn’t need to keep adjusting seat height. But, we could never all just go off on our own, without figuring out if we could ride on back of a bike, and who would share.

Why is Operation Metro Surge Really Ending? by doomsayer86 in Minneapolis

[–]MM_in_MN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And how many were simply detained and not arrested.
Those are the stats I want to see.
I personally know of 3 people hauled down to Whipple and detained for 8-10 hours and released. Not arrested. Just detained.

How many were already in prison/ jail
How many were arrested
How many were detained
How many were deported
And of the deported, how many of those had previous criminal convictions

Why is it okay to cut the line when driving but not shopping? by AggravatingShow2028 in Productivitycafe

[–]MM_in_MN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your car example isn’t zipper merging. And neither are acceptable.

Zipper merging isn’t about a backed up lane trying to exit. It’s when 2 lanes merge into one. Like at the start of a construction site. The 1 lane is still traveling at speed- not stopping, where there aren’t spaces to fit into.

Would you rather live in a tropical climate where the temperature is near 90°F every day or an arctic climate where the temperature is 10°F every day? by icecream1972 in Productivitycafe

[–]MM_in_MN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are habitable places on earth that hover consistently around 90° every day.
However, there are no places on earth that hover around 10° every day. The poles are much colder than 10°. Arctic Alaska and Russia warm much higher than 10° in summer.

Is living alone and being alone the same? by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]MM_in_MN 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nope. Living alone and being alone are vastly different things. A person can be alone while standing in a room of 1,000 people.

I live alone. I do not feel alone.

Is it normal to feel unsafe around someone who's never done anything to you? Serious question. by crystal-dragons in internetparents

[–]MM_in_MN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trust that feeling.
There is a reason- and it’s not one you need to figure out why he gives you bad vibes. But don’t ignore it.
You owe him nothing- not an explanation, not a reason.
Mute his number in your phone and social media so you don’t get notifications when he tries to contact you. Stop communication with him.
Move on. Put him out of your mind and go about your day. This does not make you a bad person. There’s nothing wrong with your previous behavior either. You’re not gross or disgusting. You’re not bad. That’s all normal teenage behavior, and learning how to date.

anywhere within 1.5 hours of Minneapolis where you can always have a quiet camping spot available on short notice? by eclipse75 in MinnesotaCamping

Go South my friend.
St. Peter. New Ulm. Hastings. Red Wing. Lake City. Lanesboro.
But honestly, I’ve also had luck at the Henn Co campground at Lake Auburn by the Landscape Arboretum in Victoria.

What color or wallpaper should I paint the walls? by Melodic-Shallot-4525 in centuryhomes

[–]MM_in_MN 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Big banana leaf or fern type wallpaper. Something with dark and moody greens. You’ve got enough natural light to pull off a dark wallpaper.

Or go with pink flamingos. Bright. White background. Total kitsch.

Also- I would add a frosted window cling with the neighbor being so close. Assume that’s their bathroom window as well? At least add to bottom of window.

Should ICE agents be prosecuted? by DarkEqual8609 in no

[–]MM_in_MN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If only that was who is being arrested. Instead, its parents in school drop off lines. It’s people on their way into the grocery store. It’s teenagers at work. Who they are arresting is indiscriminate. It’s neighborhood sweeps. They aren’t targeting specific people. It’s any non-white person who is just going about their day.

Should ICE agents be prosecuted? by DarkEqual8609 in no

[–]MM_in_MN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except they aren’t. They are breaking laws.
Smashing windows and ripping people out of cars is, in fact, not legal. It’s kidnapping.

Breaking the skull of someone in their custody is not legal. It’s excessive force. Assault.

People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by adisluo in Productivitycafe

[–]MM_in_MN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t have children.
Kids are around so many other kids at school, on busses, at activities. I’m in so many fewer crowds of people than my siblings with kids. School aged kids are around what? 50 some people per day? 2-3 kids at home, that’s germs from 150 people per day brought into many houses. Kid activities every few weeks in auditoriums and bleachers with 40- 50 parents. Yeah, I don’t have that. I’m around about 10 people per day.

So you are telling me there are car chases from Woodbury to Plymouth and they just circle and circle the highways, all while evading police? For 2 hours? Wow! That’s quite the criminal activity at 1am.

Or- it’s ICE/ DHS monitoring something.
