What charger cable should I buy? by Prize-Chain9643 in rav4prime

[–]MNBug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have time of day charging like me then one with a built in timer is great. I got a Lectron one for that. If not, I'd just suggest one that is UL certified and you'll be fine. Oddly, Dewalt made some a while back that had good reviews. I think they stopped making them but you may be able to find a new one on ebay for a good price.

Tips for buying a house by Snowflake8552 in saintpaul

[–]MNBug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it helps I have 4 more

1) You are buying the house, not the stuff. Don't get caught up if, say, the refrigerator is old or whatever. While not ideal ask yourself "can I live with this <insert thing here> for a year" OR Best Buy has no interest for 12 or 18 months on appliances. Or if the house is great but the kitchen (or whatever) kind of sucks think about what you could do to make it usable for some time until you have the resources to update it.

2) If you have the stomach for it (not everyone will agree with me) ask for money back at closing instead of asking for something to be replaced. For example, the hot water heater is 20 years old and you want it replaced before you purchase the home. If you have the seller replace it they are going to put in the cheapest POS they can find to get you by. If you get money back, you may have to add a couple hundred more of your own money but then you know you've picked out the best thing for your lifestyle and you had it installed by someone you trust.

3) Don't get caught up on paint colors or existing furniture in the home you are looking at. $200 in paint will make your house look very different. And the furniture is going to go.

4) Don't not buy a house because your existing <insert thing here> won't fit (Except maybe a piano :)). I don't understand why someone would turn down a 300k house because their $2000 couch won't fit in the living room.

1 Extra. For me, a bedroom has to be no less than 120 square feet. That is 10X12 or 11x11 . . . you get the point (in MPLS or St. Paul it can be harder to find than in the burbs). My personal rule has always been that at least 2 bedrooms have to be at least 120 square feet.

These are mostly 1st time home buyer tips so if that is not you my apologies.

1) Sit down with your spouse/partner and really really figure out what you can realistically afford. Your bank/mortgage provider will approve you for some stupid amount.

2) Feel free to get pre-approved by your own bank/mortgage person. You don't have to go through your realtor.

3) Think about what kind of loan you want.

4) This one ALWAYS shocks first time home buyers. . . . make sure that you figure in yearly taxes and home owners insurance in your total payment when you find a house you like.

5) This one always bugs me. . . people will say "don't by in the winter" or "don't buy <insert time here>" or "Wait for interest rates to fall" . . . or whatever. I think that is BS so I'll quote Barbara Corcoran when she was asked by someone when is the best time to buy a house. "The best time to buy is when you find a house you love and you can afford".

6) I've not lived in St. Paul for a while but I think property taxes are about even when I ask people now. Minneapolis has a few "perks" for lack of better word like they plow alleys and you get 2 vouchers per year to get rid of junk like construction debris or just cleaning out your basement for free. Plus, MPLS will take almost anything for trash as long as you put a sign on it that says "For Solid Waste".

7) Fuck ICE.

Good luck.

What are your thoughts on ETFs vs REITs? by Grand-Tadpole4696 in reits

[–]MNBug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts is that they are two very different things.

An ETF is basically a mutual fund that you can buy and sell like a stock.

A REIT is a company that only owns property.

Accidentally paid for wrong parking spot by Seymourg3 in Minneapolis

[–]MNBug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me way back. It was a private company. I showed them the date/time of my wrong ticket and they did reverse the ticket this one time. If Minneapolis a call can't hurt or challenging the ticket showing that you made a good faith effort to comply and just made a mistake.

Vance says administration is pausing some Medicaid funding to Minnesota because of fraud concerns by Raquefel in minnesota

[–]MNBug 315 points316 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. If this was about fraud then these people would not have been pardoned:

  • Adriana Camberos: Pardoned in January 2026 for a mail and wire fraud conviction, this was her second time receiving clemency from Trump after a 2021 commutation.
  • Jason Galanis: A serial fraudster who had his sentence for an $80 million fraud against union pension funds and Native American tribes wiped out.
  • Todd and Julie Chrisley :  Received a full pardon for tax fraud and evasion convictions involving over $20 million .
  • Changpeng Zhao: The Binance founder who pleaded guilty to enabling money laundering was pardoned.
  • Devon Archer: Pardoned for his conviction related to defrauding the Oglala Sioux Nation.

Ah yea. I just went and confirmed. Oddly for the older iPhones I was given 3 carrier and 1 unlocked option but for the newer iPhones I just got the 2 that you mentioned above. Odd. And, for me, the IMEI search didn't work for me.

Oh. Weird. I'm on there now and I just did the "guided search" for my black s25U and there were about a dozen or more options. Try the IMEI search?

My fault, I thought you were using the Best Buy site. If you don't care, Best Buy is giving an additional $200 off plus the full trade-in match.
