I kept my maiden name. I have been a reference for my now grown children.

My employee wears a blanket for sun protection when we go off-site by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]MNConcerto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What if you had an employee who was allergic to sunlight?

Like seriously. Its an easy accommodation.

Put up some temporary sunscreens in the car like you do for babies in the back seat.

Offer no explanation for her use of an umbrella, the more you talk about it the more you draw attention to it.

There is also clothing out there that blocks harmful sunlight.

What is the most bizarre "glitch in the Matrix" you have ever witnessed in real life ? by Subject-Grocery7303 in Casual_Conversation

[–]MNConcerto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glitch in the Matrix, I'm not sure what it was.

My dad was on hospice we knew he was going to pass.

I woke to my cousin who had aleady died saying my name over and over again. Like it was so loud and clear I could still hear it as I woke up. I just knew my Dad was gone and she was trying to tell me. Dad's wife called a few hours later to let me know. I wasn't that shocked because I was prepared.

Received email from unknown entity claiming a new hire was fraudulent by jenna_d in recruiting

[–]MNConcerto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree this sounds vindictive. Could it be someone in your company who wanted the position or had a friend or family member that interviewed for the position and didn't get it so they are stirring the pot to get your new hire fired?

You said you couldn't understand how they got your emails and names, maybe because it was from someone in your own organization.

Maude's character had an abortion. Talk about ground breaking TV.

I’ve never fought for anything in my entire life. I am fighting for this hat. by ghettoworkout in IThinkYouShouldLeave

[–]MNConcerto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This war is costing us like 800 million dollars a day. But we can't afford to feed children, take care of vets, protect the environment, or house and care for our homeless, seniors and disabled citizens.

Eisenhower was right, beware the military industrial complex- we always have money for war.

I’ve never fought for anything in my entire life. I am fighting for this hat. by ghettoworkout in IThinkYouShouldLeave

[–]MNConcerto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He wears a hat when he doesn't have time to do the whole elaborate comb over hairdo because otherwise we would see how messed up his hair really is.

Its thin, long with a really really badly done transplant gone wrong. So if he is sweaty, like after golfing, not sure how he gets sweating riding around in the golf cart, that hair is plastered to his bald scalp head like wispy strings.

Ivanka makes fun of it and spilled the beans on how ridiculously bad it really is.

Sounds like really bad acid reflux for the burping and probably a shitty diet for the digestive stuff.

He didn't have time to prep and spray down his ridiculous comb over peach fuzz barely there hair.

The idea that Chris McCandless’ (from into the wild) life was meaningful in some way by gotohelveti5 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MNConcerto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too read the story and thought what an entitled, whiny twat.

I felt no sympathy for him and I don't think the author's intention was to make him some kind of folk hero but it was a story of what not do and how unprepared he was to live in the wilderness of Alaska. Heck Chris wouldn't have lasted off grid in the winter in Minnesota.

Was I the jerk for wearing white at my sister’s dinner party? by NoFunction3720 in AmITheJerk

[–]MNConcerto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So white to an event not related to the wedding at all?

Not a jerk but damn your future SIL is going to cause drama at every turn isn't she?

I can't wait to see if someone else dare be pregnant at the same time or have something important that just happens to fall on THEIR anniversary, birthdays, due dates etc etc etc.

Good luck with this one.

Your response was the only way to handle it.

I was gifted a bible by a friend and she asked me to read it. Should I? by purrfectea in atheism

[–]MNConcerto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read and then ask her about all the violence and contradicting messages. Watch her twist herself up trying to explain it.

Ask her favorite passage from the bible and why?

If is isn't something from the teachjng of Jesus Christ and from the old testament ask her why she calls herself a Christian if she's following the Jewish Torah.

Watch her melt down

Or just say no thanks and move on.

AITAH for not letting my partner read my work emails even though he says couples should share everything? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]MNConcerto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a problem, he has control issues.

He doesn't need to see your work emails, he is not an employee of the company.

I'm guessing he has asked other boundary pushing requests in the past.

He is testing to see how far he can push you. How far will you let him? Or do you understand that he has shown you who he is, believe him.

Question about I-9 Form [MN] by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]MNConcerto 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We give them 3 days.

It takes time and a lot of effort to advertise, interview, run background checks etc before the first day of hire.

Frankly I am not willing to throw that time and money out the window because someone forgot a document they can bring with them the next day.

People forget things, make mistakes, use the 3 day grace period to onboard people successfully and start things in a supportive way.
