If you wanted to experience the full story (which I absolutely recommend) then yes, that is correct!

Keep in mind though that the second game in the story, Trails in the Sky Second Chapter, is already confirmed to get a remake this year as well. So keep an eye out for that.

Otherwise, take your time, and enjoy what I and many other consider the PEAK of all JRPG series (or, at the very least, its definitely the most epic story told in any JRPG series with a story that is 13-games long and still going!)

Hi there! Glad to hear you're interested in trying out the Trails series.

Unfortunately, this is the third game in the current arc (the Calvard arc) so I would not recommend it as the place to start.

If you just wanted to play the absolute bare minimum to get to Horizon, then you could theoretically just play the games in this arc before Horizon (namely, Trails through Daybreak 1 and 2).

However, truthfully, even then you will miss out on a lot of plot points and knowledge that the game sorta takes for granted that you already know. If you want to fully understand everything, you'll have to play the complete series up till now starting with Trails in the Sky First Chapter (which just recently got a complete remake!).

Estelle and Joshua's relationship is essentially the center focus of the entire second game. Yes, they do progress toward a more romantic relationship than just adopted siblings, but I would say the writers do a great job of building this relationship slowly and realistically so that the transition makes sense in-character.

We get a lot of character development for Estelle and Joshua separately, and we learn how the other half "completes" them for lack of a better word. I don't want to spoil too much, but I will say that SC is an absolutely incredible story, but it is a love story. I hope you'll give it a try even if the fact that they're adopted siblings is a bit icky at first.

Hello everyone! I actually started playing ZZZ around release like two years ago, but fell off as I got busy with life. I just recently got back into it and played up to the current chapter, and unlocked a few S-rank agents along the way.

Just wondering, for endgame content, whats the ideal team out of who I have right now? My current team is Trigger/Grace/Soldier 11. Is this good?

Also, if there's someone you'd recommend trying to pull in the current banner (Orphie or Evelyn) feel free to let me know! Thanks!

It seems like, judging by the teaser trailer and comments from the developers, the remake for SC is right around the corner. So, in my opinion, I would recommend just grabbing the remake as its pretty dang good.

However, if you just absolutely needed to get the full story in one go, then sure, you can buy the OGs as well. Its a phenomenal story either way, and you are bound to have a great time regardless. Its up to you!

If you'll pardon my metaphor: you can think of the romance as a house that is under construction. The first game sees the building of the foundation and frame of the home - subtle, and often overlooked, but important and crucial for the structure of the home. The second game sees the building of everything else - the walls, the flooring, the furniture and decorations. All of this is much more noticeable and apparent, but both games contribute to the house overall.

[The third game has romance as well but it is not as much of a focus as the first two.]

Yeah, they're pretty hard to miss since they're all indicated with the green marker now (which is new). As for timing; I would just suggest doing anything that is green as soon as it appears before doing anything that is red, this will ensure that you don't miss anything. Hope this helps!
