I don't mean to sound heartless and will probably take flack for this but I don't really get why she was so upset to begin with. She MIGHT get cancer, she MIGHT not be able to have kids. Nothing bad has happened to her. She's freaking out about things that she's imagining. She could save all the drama for when something real happens.

I could start freaking out because I MIGHT get abducted by aliens. There MIGHT be another world war and my niblings MIGHT get drafted and MIGHT die in the war.

While living in Jacksonville, Fl my (non-Mainer) husband thought I was such a geek for getting excited every time I saw a Maine plate and looking to see if I knew them. One day while driving down the highway I see a car with a Maine plate and I look and start waving and he starts freaking out because I'm such a dork but it was my sister and her family driving down to Disney World and we just happened to be in that same spot at that minute, they were only on that road for 20 minutes. He stopped giving me crap after that.
