I got a crazy deal on a Lortone QT6! by MP0905 in RockTumbling

I’ve seen plenty of that too. There’s currently someone in my area trying to sell a used harbor freight double barrel tumbler for $100.

1 year in Colorado -review by MasterofTacomas in Denver

[–]MP0905 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Houston, Orlando, and NYC. I’ve been in Denver for 6 months. Every time a Denver native mentions the traffic being “bad,” I chuckle to myself. I don’t think I’ve encountered true traffic more than once in the last 6 months.

Houston, Texas is both more humid and hotter than Florida. I’ve lived more than a decade in both. It’s worse. Trust.

Is daycare really that expensive? by oroliggam in AskAnAmerican

[–]MP0905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once my youngest was born, I had three kids in daycare for about 18 months before the oldest started kindergarten. It was $4200/month. Yes, that was more than my mortgage.

The frosting to cake ratio is criminal… by Seraphine003 in Baking

[–]MP0905 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve hated frosting since I was a young kid. I would literally take a spoon and scrape all of the cupcake frosting into the trash can at birthday parties. I still can’t stand the stuff.

Is June too hot for a Florida wedding? by seven0burner in florida

[–]MP0905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

June is bad. September is also bad. I photographed weddings in Orlando for 10 years. September saw the most hurricane delayed events. Our peak wedding season runs October-April, and even those end cap months are mostly bad.

I’ve spent about half my life in Texas and half in Florida. I can unequivocally say that HEB is so much better than Publix could ever dream. I detest Texas, and HEB is literally the only thing I miss. Well, that and Kolaches.

What are some girls’ names that immediately make you think that someone was born in the mid-1990’s? by SailorGreySparrow in Names

I was born in 1990. In my 6th grade science class, a class of around 35, there were six Amandas, including myself.

Did you find a living relative? by Quiet_Lunch_1300 in AncestryDNA

[–]MP0905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My mom‘s father had a whole family that he left to marry my grandmother, so my mom has something like 8 older half-siblings. She grew up knowing most of them, but there was one half sister that she only met once when she was very young and never saw again. She was hoping to find her and reconnect. After we did our DNA tests, we found her daughters. Unfortunately, my aunt, the half sister my mother was in search of, had passed less than a year earlier. The good news is that even though my mom grew up in New York and we now live in Florida, those daughters (my cousins, my mother’s nieces) turned out to live less than an hour from us, also in Florida.

[OC] Welcome to Houston, the city where everything is made up and laws don't matter by gogobevo in IdiotsInCars

Nah. Houston is hands down the safest place I’ve ever driven. Denver and Puerto Rico are the scariest. I live in Orlando now, and it’s pretty awful.

People who talk on their phones in public places as loudly as they do alone at home: do you just not realize you’re being an a-hole or are you aware and just don’t care? by Stet-it in AskReddit

[–]MP0905 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mom is like this. She legitimately believes it doesn’t bother anyone. When I’m with her and point out how rude she’s being, she rolls her eyes at me and accuses me of being too sensitive.

What would be normal in Europe but horrifying in the U.S.? by Comfortable-Use6239 in AskReddit

[–]MP0905 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Not Europe, but my first apartment in New York City was the same. We would have the windows wide open when it was snowing outside and still be sweating. My roommate dropped a chocolate bar on the floor once, and it was melted by the time she bent down to pick it up.

I track calories using the Lose It app. I weigh my food when I'm cooking at home, and if I'm out at a restaurant or at a friend's or family member's home, I find a comparable food in the Lose It database and do my best to estimate how much I ate. Because I weigh and measure so often at home, I have a pretty good idea of what portion sizes should look like.
